      Hey Kayleigh - think of it this way it could have been a natural disaster, a war or even a famine. We're privileged to live in a country where things aren't adversely affected and even though corona has hit the entire world - you have to just accept it as a major challenge - and look beyond that. Ask yourself where you want to be post corona - in fact check out some of our tips/advice for students like yourself: czcams.com/video/juxECTCSAtM/video.html

    ~ advice for doing 4 A levels ~ so I did maths, physics, biology and Spanish (the first 3 I needed for uni and Spanish bc I really enjoyed languages at GCSE). Doing 4 was hard work and overwhelming at times, especially bc spanish was so different to the others (so say if you did 4 a levels but 2 were maths and further maths or if you do a language you are fluent in then you may find it a bit easier). My main struggle was keeping up with homework and extra study bc I had less frees and more work ! This made making revision resources as you go along difficult and I didn’t really manage it (though other people did a better job !). It was also hard to balance when trying to sort out UCAS. HOWEVER although this sounds a bit negative, doing 4 a levels made my time at sixth form so worthwhile ! I wouldn’t change it ! It was a struggle near the end but was doable and somehow I managed to come out with 4 grades I’m really proud of ! xx

      thanks for the advice! I’m applying to college this year and I still am unsure of what to do. I’m stuck between doing double maths, physics and film studies. Or maths, physics, film studies and politics. I wanna go to uni for engineering (I think) is double maths would be better and I do enjoy maths but I can just imagine the amount of work. Sorry for the ramble aha

    • @lauren3409
      @lauren3409 Před 4 lety +2

      Ellie Rose okay so I applied for biomedical engineering at a few unis which only asked for maths and physics or maths + 1 science subject. I did consider Oxford (though got rejected before interviews) who said at the open day that you should take double maths and physics unless you had a valid reason why you couldn’t (not that it was in their entry requirements at all ! And no other unis to my knowledge expected this). What I think I’m trying to say is you won’t be disadvantaged by not doing double maths, so maybe consider doing the subjects that you enjoy and find the most interesting ! If perhaps you later find that engineering is not for you, you’ve got a bit more variety of subjects if you do film studies and politics. Defo not qualified to give this advice but I did contemplate between taking double maths or spanish- and I’m not sure even now I know which one would have been better ! xx

    • @MrBrandonHDGamer
      @MrBrandonHDGamer Před 4 lety +2

      Ellie Rose I agree mostly with what Lauren has said but thought I’d add a little extra. I do double maths and yes the workload is hard, but with any a level you get a load of work. If you are passionate about maths and are semi good at it you will be fine :) just make sure you don’t take it because you’re good at it. Also if you do take double maths obviously it does hinder your next path so I would only advice taking them if you want to go into something mathematical (maths, physics, engineering, etc) as most of these require/ want further maths. If you are unsure of what career path you want to do down, you could try taking 4/5 (not sure if you’re college would let you do 5) but then drop one/ change within the first few weeks if you don’t like one of your subjects as that’s totally possible, but yeah if you are unsure just make sure you’re taking subjects you enjoy.

    • @zazatwoisfab
      @zazatwoisfab Před 4 lety +3

      Ellie Rose I agree with Brandon! You should definitely do FM if you want to do Eng - the course often will not require it but you are at a great disadvantage for more competitive courses without it. I’m starting engineering at Oxford next month and everyone I met at interviews had FM or were self teaching it to sit an AS instead if their school didn’t offer it. This was the same case at Imperial interviews. Obviously depends what league of unis you want to apply to but for top courses I would 100% recommend double maths - especially since you’re only doing 1 science subject! Taking 4/5 A-levels is totally possible & isn’t hard as long as you don’t compare your own workload to your peers - if you do compare yourself it can be really demotivating. Also if you’re still unsure about degrees I would recommend doing all (or at least 3) facilitating subjects - I’m not really sure how many doors film studies & politics will open for you, so do take that into account. Good luck !

However, I seriously don't know which one to drop because they are a totally different subject. Chemistry is the only science I'm interested in and I got a 8 in gcse. I know that university loves chemistry and it will widen my subject choice for uni but I'm not confident of getting a good grade (maybe a B/C) On the other hand, I really enjoy textiles and got a 9 in gcse and quite confident of getting A/A* but uni doesn't really like art subject :( I kind of want to get into durham/birmingham for marketing + management and i need AAB/ABB. So i am not doing textiles in uni/job. CHEMISTRY OR TEXTILES???? I am so frustrated nowwwwww!!!!!!!!

      Me and my friend both want to study medicine, he’s doing psychology and I’m doing English Literature as my third! I did psychology at GCSE and absolutely loved it and it goes so well with the other sciences but I chose English because I love it more...which one do you think you enjoy more? Stick with that one💓
