      Agreed. Seems like what I eat during the month effects me differently which has me believing it's my cycle. I can feel so trim and on top of the world and then 2 weeks later eat the same and train the same and feel like a bloated lard!

    Great summary of the info! I've been fascinated by this topic for a while now. I track my cycle with Clue, most times when I have a killer workout where I say, 'whoa, when did I become such a badass?' I am always on day 12-14 of my cycle (ovulation period!) It is empowering to know that there are scientific, hormonal reasons that my energy and mood may drop the week before my period. It is NOT my fault and I can anticipate this and work on taking care of myself as needed throughout the month.

    This is so helpful to me, I have a habit of beating myself up when I'm unusually tired and can't get a weight up for a Deadlift for example that I would normally have no problems with. I had definitely suspected that the issue was my cycle, but it is certainly helpful to know that it's actually fact and that I haven't suddenly lost a tonne of strength.
    I also find this informative and honestly validating because my fiance obviously doesn't experience these highs and lows so I had in the past felt like I was obviously doing something wrong because he was getting all these gains and I was struggling more.

      Dude it’s crazy how many women are having this same experience upon learning this! This NEEDS to be taught in schools so that women don’t feel like something is wrong or that they are failing when they lose strength temporarily.

    This is SO interesting! After quitting hormonal birth control I had noticed very significant differences in my performance during my menstrual cycle. In the last part of my luteal phase my lifting max literally would drop by 20%

    This is such great info! I always feel a bit tired right before and the first day of my period. And now I understand I should be taking it a bit easier, and that actually this will be beneficial! I guess I kinda always thought I felt subpar bc of uncomfortable symptoms of “pms” or cramps, and not hormonal fluctuations directly affecting strength and energy!

    Thank you SO much for this video!! I love your style, you make it so easy to understand something that could otherwise seem intimidating or just too complicated. :) I'd love to see a video that dives more into specific foods to eat throughout the menstrual cycle, specifically for fat loss but even just overall! But until then, do you have any advice for overcoming excessive hunger during the 7-10 days leading up to your period? I don't have cravings for specific food, I just seem to have insatiable hunger. I don't have a super restrictive diet but I could easily eat over 3000 calories day after day during this time in my cycle and it's soo hard to manage it.

    Oh, where have you been during my 5- month- weight loss journey??!! 😊 You really are a true gem! 🙂 I realized that when I tried sticking to my vegan keto (while being in a caloric deficit) during my cycle...my body was like, "no ma'am"! After the 2nd month, I decided to just listen to my body & eat intuitively. However, I want to make sure I stay consistent in how I nourish my body as my goal is to build muscle & get a faster metabolism! 😉

    Thanks a loot!! I was on the pill for about 10 years and now that I stoped it it was a huuuuuuuge change for my hormones cuz basically they are comming back to normal and I have've been struggling to try to figure out what to eat and when and you just explained that to me.     I’d LOVE LOVE LOVE a video dedicated to those on hormonal birth control (iud, pill, implant etc.) and how they can optimize their workouts! I’ve been struggling to feel energized ever since I started my hormonal bc journey and it’s greatly impacted my health and ability to workout and see progress.

      If you're on hormonal bc, you don't really have a cycle and can train much more like a male. The only fluctuation is right before/during the beginning of your period when your hormones drop so you should treat that like the end of the luteal phase. But if your energy overall is low then you should talk to your doctor about a different bc option
