    This video goes into how I am shifting my nutrition to support balancing my hormones and getting a regular menstrual cycle. Your food plays a big role in hormone balance and eating in sync with your cycle can make some major shifts to reduce PMS and promote a regular cycle. If your periods are irregular or you suffer from PMS or any other period-related issue, eating for each phase will help you feel so much better!

Recently someone told me I should aim for 14% body fat (which I don’t want) and seeing you be at 20% fat yet super in shape has given me hope! Was it a guy presumably wanting to date you? It sounds like typical "negging" where a guy goes from complimenting you like crazy to insulting you. They want you to "work to win them over." I believe in gender roles and for me, men have to win me over or I'm better off alone.

    • @MissFitAndNerdy
      @MissFitAndNerdy  Před 3 lety +2

      Honestly, I didn’t consult any doctors about coming off the pill. I was only on it for birth control purposes, not to “treat” a medical condition, so there wasn’t too much concern. I did talk to my NTP about it but she knew that I knew what I needed to know so it was more just for reassurance lol. During my last annual physical I told my doctor that I had come off birth control and he had no comment 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Is it possible for you to talk over the extreme effects of hormone imbalances and your period?
    I agree with you that there is not enough education about how diet effects your hormones, and your overall mood. I suffer from PMDD and I have switched my diet around to a lot of the same things to try and balance things out as “naturally” as possible.
    I don’t think the world understands women’s issues and I sincerely appreciate you being an advocate to a healthy lifestyle.
    Oh. PS. The foods she’s talking about do help. I eat all of them to maintain a balance. It works. Trust me. You can also indulge on your favorite things sometimes. It’s called maintain a balance for a reason folks.

    Ive been tracking for 2 years now & DEFINITELY noticed a trend. First two weeks seems more balanced between fats proteins and carbs but typically more eggs, 3rd week a TON of protein in the form of meat which is something I didn’t crave while on the pill, also alwayyys Cruciferous brussel sprouts etc & “warm foods”, keep in mind I’m from Canada. Also methylation of estrogens have improved over one year of eating like this, checking via DUTCH test. & the 4th week is always easy to digest carbs like potatoes & squash, also tea weirdly enough lol. Its such a routine when I start my cravings I know what part of my cycle I’m in without checking. Also I muscle test when I’m about to go grocery shopping because like you sometimes it would be weeks later when my body actually wanted the higher carbs. Also when I started supplementing with magnesium the chocolate cravings left after feeling practically addicted to it😅 dutch test also showed I already had high dopamine so I really didn’t need any extra support for that from chocolate. Other than that I almost always feel better when following my cravings, our body’s are cool 😄

    Hey Marisa, is wanting to "reset" my hunger and fullness cues a good enough reason for wanting to embark on a 3 day fast? I've done a 3 day fast before a long time ago, and it helped with my hunger and fullness cues tremendously, but I dont know if this is considered a disordered approach to a 3 day fast. I dont want to lose weight from the fast but I feel like I am able to feel my fullness more after a fast. Any thoughts? Also greattt video!! Love your content sooo much 😋💜💙

    • @MissFitAndNerdy
      @MissFitAndNerdy  Před 3 lety +1

      Honestly, only you can truly answer that question for yourself. I recommend taking some time to really think about what you’re hoping to get out of it. If by “reset” your hunger you mean decrease your hunger so that you can eat less and lose weight, then that might not be the best reason to do it. If you’re currently feeling hungry all the time then fasting probably is not the best solution. But if you’re currently eating because you’re bored, tired, etc. but not really hungry and you want to break that habit then it might be helpful

      Im not tracking or weighing. Eating specific foods to support your body isn't complicated at all imo :) It's the same as taking a vitamin haha. My smoothies tend to be 700-1000 calories! I personally love to have a big breakfast because it keeps me full and satiated and prevents me from having any cravings for the rest of the day. People often get scared of “wasting” their calories on breakfast and instead save them for dinner but fall into the trap of over eating at night because they have felt hungry all day. Whereas if they just had a bigger breakfast they would be a lot happier and be able to redistribute the calories a lot easier
