Barca's defence was quite shaky to with kounde and alonso as CBs christensen should have started instesd of alonso and araujo should hsve played CB and kounde at RB like usual Kounde can't desl with pace like araujo and he was up against a ST in rashford
Alonso was never supposed to be in that defense .he is a very very slow defender. That was a novice decision by xavi . All man utd wanted to do is kick the ball over the top for 1 player to run behind and everyone know that's rashford. Why xavi put a slow defender when he knows their tactics ? Watch their goal. Rashford running with Alonso and Alonso cant keep up . This is all xavi fault

It's weird that eventho that kounde insisted that he played better as a CB, a lot of times when he played at cb (at least this season alone) he looks a bit uncomfortable. He became his best when he played at right back position than on CB position.
Maybe it's because he's been partnered with alonso, someone he doesn't have a chemistry yet at that position. Hope things will get better for him

I think both managers get an 8 from me for letting players play and not choosinf negative tactics that could have made the game cagey.
Fans all over regardless if they support Barca or Man U or are neutral, will remember this fast paced exciting game where each team are like well trained boxers exchanging punches non-stop.

Tactically the match was pretty like a chess match, but united players had a better approach to the game, won more duels especially in united final third, ManUtd could have 8:12 scored at least another goal and barca changes had no impact, so a pretty good match that both could have won but United slightly better in the singles.

As a Barca fan, I rewatched the match and have the following to say: Barcelona made too many mistakes when building up. Of course, credit goes to Man Utd for pressing, but the amount of sloppy plays by Kounde, Alonso, Alba and even Lewandovski were about to cost Barcelona the whole tie⊠Extremely poor decisions by Xavi, absolutely no idea why he, yet again in an important match, completely changed up the back four. When all four - Kounde, Araujo, Balde and Christensen played the last 30 minutes, Barca looked so solid and calm, while defending. Looking forward to the second leg, may the better team win and advance

Anyone can make mistakes, and you have to acknowledge them to improve. Credit to Xavi, he recognised that XI wasn't working optimally and Barca started to play better towards the end

Xavi fucked up with the starting lineup. We achieved our impressive defensive record with Balde, Christensen, Araujo, and Kounde. I will start by saying ...is it just my view or it is a fact Barcelona always get favoured in Europe especially against English teams? I have seen this with Chelsea and Arsenal but Chelsea especially. That been said It was a great game for me. Manutd keep growing game by game and they deserve this. On paper analysis manutd should go through in the next leg, it is theirs to loose given they will Martinez back who can play through the press with line breaking passes and also sabitzer coming back from suspension who has more purpose and creativity on the ball than Fred with good work rate as well. This will create lots of problems for Barca given their injuries and suspensions it remains to be seen .
