- another genesis video.... this is the third madden game to come out i think... this is pretty much just showin you a drive on offense and defense... not tryin to show skill obviously haha... good game

To this day, this is the best Madden game. It doesn't have to be 100% realistic to be good, just fun.
My favorite line was "Where'd that truck come from?"
This was the first Madden game I ever had back then and we loved this game. Especially my older brother. Good memories :)
Clothesline tackle was the best. All the years I've played this game I've only returned by three or four kickoffs but returned punts on a regular basis

Man, I think I remember... wasn't this game packaged with Madden 2002 on the Playstation? And man, I always loved that opening title song... so, so addicting...

This is the first football video game that I ever played. No season mode, no free agency, no franchise mode. All we had were some classical teams, a small random playoff format, and a few buttons. However, it was still lots of fun and the best thing was that the non-technical nature of the game allowed me to play it with my dad, who knew nothing about video games.

Yeah this was the third Madden game on the Genesis and the last one to be named "John Madden Football"...
Without the NFL license back then, they had to use city names without team names, so to differentiate the Giants from the Jets, the Jets were named New Jersey.

im not sure about 2002... i heard you can play it on the madden 09 collectors edition game though.. even though i've never seen a video of it.. and yeah i agree haha... the old madden themes are so catchy

4-3 - Cover - Man Zone 1
Call that play on punt/FG/XP and I SWEAR you could block it 50%+ of the time; you would blow right thru the O line!!! Try it if you have the game??
It was the first video game glitch I ever found. Please, someone, tell me you found this too??? I swear it's real but it's been 25+ years lol
I don't remember the 4-3 Cover glitch. I would just crowd the line of scrimmage and get as close to the center as possible. About 20% of the time you would break right through for a FG/punt block.
There was another ridiculous things you could do. I don't remember if it was Madden 93 or 94, but if you ran the ball with Pittsburgh RB, you can literally keep mashing "B" to spin and you could spin all the way down the field and all the tacklers would bounce off you. Worked enough to run the ball every play.
this was when videogames were very simple...compared to these games that are complacated now of days.

yeah, since they couldnt call them the jets, they probably put them as new jersey so people wouldnt mix them up with the giants or something... although they play in new jersey so it kinda makes sense

@gear377 exactly haha... i just found out today that you can't put custom players on custom teams in madden anymore... not a huge deal but you could do it 5 years ago

Hey, can you upload a video where somebody makes atouchdown in this game? I haven't heard the music for a thouchdown in this game or seen one of the players dance in almost fifteen years and I'd love to see and hear it again.
@dboz29 not sure... they probably didnt use the nfl names because of the copyrighted ones.... like the 49ers for example... just my guess
I miss this game (sniff). THIS WAS THE LAST TIME THE REDSKINS WERE GOOD (SNIFF) (SNOT BUBBLE) LOL
haha, i think it's because Philly only plays certain teams in the first round.
@GuyPatrowski I have to clue why they would do that, that was half the fun of Madden, creating ridiculous teams with your friends was fun stuff

@agollaglee haha, try a lot of short, safe passes... that seems to work best for me. It's still tough though haha
for me it was the ambulance that would come in randomly and run over the players and Maddens commentating
great stuff lol
I loved that as a kid. Made no sense. Like whole game is serious and meant to be this real football simulation. The somebody gets hurt, and the ambulance plows through the players like a 85 year old lady driving through the side of the pharmacy.
back when Madden was about playing football, not XP rubbish turning it into a RPG, notice how 1993 had highlights at the end of a game during playoffs??? EA can't even do that since now they just recyle features every 4 years, the irony of that dallas cowboys philly game is cowboys smashed them in the 92 playoffs when this game come out and the game hate the eagles rated better then them on all defence lol
