- i think this summer im gonna upload a bunch of vids of sega games i played back when i was little... i dunno why.. anyway.. this was the first ea nhl game (i think there was one before but it wasnt nhl teams) for the sega genesis/megadrive. i pretty much played through a game (and sucked... sorry im more used to 94 and playing on the genesis.. im not as good with emulators... the one timers in this game are a bit slow for me) with my philadelphia flyers. this isnt for showing skill... its for showing the game n all that. i ended up winning the game 3-2 surprisingly in the end if for some reason you were wondering... anyways, good old school game...

This game was hilarious because you could start fight every single time a goal was scored and it didn't matter what players were involved

Im not even a hockey fan but this was and still is one of my all time favorite games. I'd spend hours playing as the LA Kings, beating up the computer and then picking fights.
Great play by John Ogrodnick in the Ranger Capital game with the OT winner! Comes back to drill John Druce who was about to score, almost scores on his own net, then skates the length of the ice for the winner!
it's amazing how far technology has come man, blows my mind.
Man that theme song bring so many memories of me any my bro playing this in our PJs always arguing over who would be the Leafs.

This ones is my favorite because it has Troy Crowder in it one of the best fighters in NHL history. Also the one after this one was good because if you beat the @$@$ out of someone bad enough you could injure them and when they fell to the ground they would squirm and blood would come out of there head. They would wobble to the bench too lol. That one actually used fight ratings as well so Probert and Domi were sick.
it's great seeing this again,ahh the memories age 5,watching my brothers playing this in the basement,good times! :)

I wish they would make a modern NHL game, using the group of teams here; ya know with the north stars, jets, nordiques, and whalers....and have the old arenas, logos, and uniforms...
this was the first NHL game released on Genesis. However, in '91, there was "EA Hockey" released for genesis, that only had international teams. I had (and have with the emulator) both, and both were amazing.
I loved this game. The fierce fish win the cup!

What made this game epic was the out of town scores, and the replays from other games...
20 years later.....look at the difference! Watch this, then NHL 13. This, then NHL 13.
Hardest game to rent back then. Took me months to play it. Crazy Canadians and their hockey.

I got my first NHL EA game on the SNES. I got NHLPA 93 for SNES. That game was great to I loved it.

I played this game and after a little while just wanted to see how many penalty minutes I could get and how many fights I could have, Topped out at over 600 minutes in penalties in a 20 minute game.

Thats the only hockey game i ever enjoyed playing, beside Blade of steel on the NES but NHL 92 was more fun than todays game for some reason . . .

@saynotodrug999 they should pretty much take 94 and add 93's blood and fighting... that's the only thing 94 is missing
@DaveSwayer I have a habit of hitting players after the whistle... in 94 nothing happens... but in 92, they always want to fight, so i accidentally end up fighting a lot of players haha

With this one and NHL 93, when you are headed straight up the middle of the ice, if you hit pass instead of shoot, the puck will float right into the goal about 80% of the time. I could take the weakest team and beat the strongest this way, used to make mad all my roommates, thought it was cheating, I said, how, I just shot the puck and it went in. Works going down the ice too--pass straight up or down instead of shoot. I used to get scores like 25-3, etc.
You could also score on a breakaway 9/10 times if you know the trick its easy. Just come in from an angle and cut it back and shoot at last second and goalie cant stop it. I liked the fighting with blood spilling on ice.
I played international teams version those days actually. Damn, there were some intense matches with friends and ofc we played motherfucking USSR vs Canada. Not to mention going into school tackling each other with the same sounds as ingame players. Those were good old days.

@elniniocool San Jose was an expansion team so that makes sense... I know this is the Devils team that should've beat Pittsburgh in the playoffs so yeah that makes sense too
@ECWnWWF yeah they should do a remake of this or 94 with better graphics and sounds, etc... and try to not mess with the movements, etc.

I wish they could do highlights of other games, and show the scores while you were playing. Sadly, It would take 4x the work

yup emulator... although i have this for genesis.. i used gens movie... its an emulator that records videos.. and i think it might have been... cant wait to see it man... and its fine haha

The line changes started in nhlpa 93. But you could edit lines in 92.

this game has a another versioni in europe then with internatinal teas like Canade the Soviet union Hungary ect
That was NHL 91 and the teams were all NHL players. They just used international teams because they had no NHL license yet.

There was a 0 rated guy in NHLPA '93
Shawn Chambers would’ve been with the Minnesota North Stars in this game if NHL 92 had an NHLPA License in addition to the NHL Teams license.
