  • In the summer of 1988, Cory Publishing was the object of an attempted takeover by Bennett Publishing, whose contact was known only to Mac Cory as "The Chief." After a summer of hell, during which Mac was framed for murder, spent time in jail, and nearly lost the company he spent his entire life building, Mac's estranged daughter Iris Cory Wheeler returned to Bay City and reconciled with him. In the spring of 1989 when client and personal Cory friend Felicia Gallant was on trial for the murder of Jason Frame, Mac's wife Rachel learned that Iris was "The Chief". In these scenes she confronts Iris about being "The Chief" and insists that Mac know the truth first before the rest of Bay City does, meaning Iris has to tell Mac immediately since Iris is testifying at Felicia's trial the next morning...or Rachel will tell him herself.

Donna was the one who discovered that Iris was "the Chief." Donna inadvertently heard Iris on the phone with someone we (the audience) didn't see and identifying herself as "the Chief." Donna then told Cass, who was representing Felicia. Cass told Rachel because Rachel and Mac were also his friends and his clients, and after talking to Cass, Rachel confronted Iris, seen here.

Yes, I do have Iris on the witness stand at Felicia's trial. Mac throwing Iris out of the Cory Mansion is in the clip titled "Iris Confesses to Mac That She Was "The Chief." I also have the next day with Mac and Rachel, and Mac's memories of Iris (including flashbacks from 1988 and '89). Douglass Watson passed away about seven or eight weeks after this, I believe.

The story is that Iris spent so many years in Europe before she returned that we were to believe she just naturally retained her Europen accent she picked up over there.
Carmen Duncan is actually Australian. From her Wikipedia entry: "As an actress in Australia, Duncan was trained in the Cultivated Australian English dialect, which is often mistaken for a British accent."

Sadly, yes, SN yanked AW from the air after showing an episode on April 6, 2007, and has no plans to return it to the schedule. :-(
