  • Mac and Rachel are in Iris's office going through files. Mac says the more material they have on Felicia, the better, because Mac knows Felicia is innocent and he wants everyone else to know it too. Rachel asks Mac if he'll be editing the articles himself, and he says no, he'll assign them to someone else because he's too personally involved. Rachel says it seems like a great idea. When Mac catches Rachel looking at her watch, he asks her if she has to get home, and she replies that she's just wondering if the judge has sentenced Felicia yet. Mac is distracted because he's looking at the framed photograph of himself and Iris on Iris's desk, so he misses what Rachel says at first, but when he tunes back in to her, he replaces the picture and reminds her that Cass promised to let them know as soon as he heard anything about the sentencing. Rachel offers to go through everything in Iris's office for Mac, but Mac declines, saying he wants to keep busy, and anyway Felicia is all that's important right now. Rachel asks Mac if he understands that if Mac does these articles on Felicia, all of the information on Iris will come out because Cass has made Iris a suspect with a very good motive. Mac tells Rachel he knows that, but it's still hard to believe that Iris was not only was behind the takeover attempt but that she was also paying Jason Frame blackmail money to keep quiet about it. Rachel offers to handle the articles for Mac, and again he declines because he wants to keep busy, and he vows to find some way to help Felicia, no matter what Iris has done. Then Iris shows up, much to Mac and Rachel's surprise, and Mac asks Iris what she's doing there. Iris greets Rachel, then says that she came in to get some work; she thought she'd go over a few manuscripts this evening, and after she's edited an excellent article on the Greenhouse Effect, perhaps Mac would enjoy it. When Iris sees the picture of herself and Mac lying face down on her desk, she puts it back up, then says there's a new artist who's started in the layout room that she thinks would be perfect for Brava's fall article on men's fashions. Mac's response is to tell the shocked Iris that he wants her out of Cory Publishing by tonight. He will have her things delivered by tomorrow, but she is to be out by tonight because she is no longer wanted there. "Daddy, please!" Iris exclaims, but Mac ignores her and leaves her office, and Rachel goes after Mac, leaving Iris standing there alone.

Sadly, in soap land, I consider Iris deceased as every portrayer of this character is now deceased, too.

And the show is deceased, as well.

I think they should have tried to at least found an iris that had some resemblance to the original

Who would have been your choice?

Carmen was a perfect replacement, Beverlee was a tuff act to follow. Carmen did a wonderful job.

Donna mills and Abby Dalton that sounds great boy what a casting that would've been another world was always perfect when it came to stunt casting but I did love Carman as well as Beverly as well as the brief iris they had back in 80 actress Carole Shelly of the old odd couple t.v serise fame

I loved Carman she was awsome but my second choice would've been actress Jane Elliot aka Tracey from general hospital they should have lured her away from days of our lives which she was doing at the time and brought her back to New York City ( she was once on guiding light ) can you imagine Jane playing actor Douglas Watson daughter wow what a casting coop that would've been . Jane and actress Victoria Wyndham playing rivals another world was always great and I mean great when it came to casting Jane would've had the perfect chemistry with whom ever AW. Actor or actress that she had scenes with the entire cast already had the best chemistry with each other but yeah I'm so glad that they chose Carman but if they would've gotten Jane man oh man

There was a time that I would have agreed with you. But looking back it was actually better that they didn't - I think it made it easier for us to accept Carmen Duncan. And I loved McKinsey's take but Duncan did a great job too. She was able to find some of the same notes that McKinsey played, and played them so well, especially about "daddy."

I never understood why Iris tried to steal Mac's company from. Clearly she never loved him.

Why do I remember as older

Because she was. She was originally portrayed by the great Beverly McKinsey. The funny thing was she was only 14 years younger than the actor playing her father who was the equally great Douglass Watson. The fans didn’t care though because they were amazing. Basically, Broadway in daytime. Good memories.
