It's clearly inspired by the MI-24...
I was thinking the Chinook due to the similar transport capabilities, but other than that, yeah, those were my thoughts. The speed and firepower of the former with the transport and VTOL capabilities of the latter.

I think episode 2 is very underrated. Although it a lot of down time, it makes up for it with shining action scenes. I always love it when the clones first hop out of the gunship.

Why are Gunships in The Mandalorian emitting orange light from their rocket launchers /engines ?

Dude... The Mandalorian design of LAAT misplaced the engines with the top missile launchers. The engines are BETWEEN those missile launchers. How could they miss that?
