    Yeah so my 85 Cutlass wouldn't shift out of first gear , so i couldn't figure out what was going on. A few weeks passed , and i went under my car and felt for this vaccum modulator and felt with my hand that a hose was missing for it, felt around a little more and found a loose hose , stuck that sucker back on , took a test drive and that sucker was shifting like a charm ...

    Will a bad modulator affect transmission not going into reverse?
    I inadvertently poured
    2 qts of Dextron 4 synthetic transmission fluid, my jeep calls for only type F fluid.
    Now will not engage into reverse, shifts into drive easily., I've drained 4 qts X 2 twice
    Still no change, fluid looks 👌 like new, and level is spot on! Do I need to rebuild ?

    8 months after installing my hose it cracked where it fits over the flare in the hard-line. The hose has never come out of the garage (ha!), and I softened it up some with heat so it slipped right on. Perhaps it's just junk, but it came with the modulator from a reputable shop who built my transmission.

      @BMRacingPerformance  Před 6 lety

      When upgrading your current vacuum modulator to the B&M Racing GM Vacuum Modulator you can expect to have some ATF spillage during replacement if the transmission pan is on and transmission is at the correct level. Prior to removing the old modulator, you can place a cup, bowl, etc. below to catch the residual fluid. You can then use the container as your "measuring cup" to calculate how much ATF was lost and use that as your guide on how much ATF you'll need to top off the transmission.

      Similar. The Shift kit shifts a lot more solid and harder than the modulator set screw. With a shift kit th350 trans, I was chirping tires hard throttle into 2nd gear. WITH a terrible 2.73 rear. I don’t think the highest setting modulator is doing that. Although it will make it shift quicker.

  • @draculinapublishing1508

    My TH350 goes into gear when I first start it but then it loses it. I can put it in any gear and it won't engage. When I shut the car off and restart it it will go into gear again. Change the filter & fluid!! If you have a stopped up filter it will stop pulling completely as soon as the transmission warms up!! It's also the cheapest easiest thing to try first, but I've seen a dirty tranny filter cause that issue of not pulling many of times in my 46 years!
