  • Curt from Curt's Corner takes you step by step through the tear down process of a TH350 automatic transmission.
    He shows you what tools to use, how to use them and some tricks to make the job a lot easier. He also lets you know what parts to keep and what can be disposed of as he goes through each part of the transmission.
    This is just the beginning of your TH350 rebuild, watch the Sub-Reassembly and Rebuild videos for in-depth instructions on putting it all back together.

    Outstanding instructional video. I learned a lot. Enough to decide not to rebuild it myself and happily pay someone for all that work.

    I followed this video step by step and I successfully rebuilt my own TH 350 and it’s amazing, so smooth, thank you I saved at least $1250 and I KNOW I did a perfect job with high quality B&M part kits. THANK YOU MONSTER TRANSMISSION

      Yeah but he fails to show you exactly where your check balls are. There are 4 and some transmissions have had a shift kit put on them so then there sometimes is only 1 so i have seen in several other videos. Also a few other things he does leave out in this video like alpt of parts have to be lubed back before putting back toether and lip seal tool it takes to lock other parts back in amd soaking your clutches in transmission fluid for a couple hrs before rebuilding.

    I could take it apart for sure, but by the time I get to putting it all back together I wouldn’t know what bolts went to what and totally forget how to put it back together, it’s definitely worth paying somebody no matter how you have to raise the cash. IMHO

    I just finished rebuilding my th350 and have it in the car. The transmission performs well (shifting, etc...) But I have an issue with tranny fluid pushing out the tranny dip stick when I shut the engine off. After diagnosing the problem I blew air into the dip stick to check the that the breather vent isn't blocked in any way. I removed the vent tube and found that the passage way to the breather vent cap doesn't vent. So the tranny is building up pressure and blowing out the fluid through the dip stick tube. I followed all steps when rebuilding and can't figure out what the blocked is caused from. Anyone have any ideas before I pull the tranny from the car and take it apart again. Thanks for your help

    Great video for the "DYI" guy. I would use more specialty tools, i.e. a seal puller tool as well as a front pump removal tool.
    By the way, what glove are you using? I have tried several types, but haven't found ones I really like. Those seem to fit well without hindering your dexterity.

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  Před 6 lety +2

      Thanks! Yes, we try to show how you could do it in case you're missing tools. Curt is wearing Black Nitrile gloves by Safety Director Elite. They are industrial gloves, latex free and powder free.

  • @mathewshackelford8037

    The amount of water that came out of the transmission is crazy! Great video though!

    can i use a c clamp instead of the compression tool?

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  Před 3 lety

      This is not the preferred way but it has been done in the past by other builders we always suggest to use the Compression Tool. Thank you for choosing Monster Transmissions!

    • @MonsterTransmission

      The price will vary depending on the build and application of your custom built transmission.

    A tow truck driver towed my company's 1981 Silverado K10 wrong and destroyed the tranny. Yes, we're suing. I spent the winter of 2022-23 IN NORTH DAKOTA ON CRUTCHES. On ice, thru snow above my knees. The tow truck driver's employers were heard to say, "We've gotten away with this before, and besides it's just some Indn's truck". Racist and arrogant and they don't deserve to be in business.
    This video has been a LOT of help, since I have not rebuilt a TH350 in 3 years. Yes, this Indigenous woman rebuilds vehicles.
    So thanks, Monster!
    Btw, the rebuild by a top local transmission shop cost $2,365(.56, including replacing the front u-joint in the drive line). Add in lost income and pain and suffering and we're talking serious money. Not to mention the lack of respect of the opposition for business.

    Yeah how to you release the band at 11:50???

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  Před 4 lety +1

      You can apply the band through the valve body area and use a large flathead screwdriver to help pull it out.

    • @keenaconner2108
      @keenaconner2108 Před 4 lety

      Yes i figured this out.. Was trying to do what's in the case before messing with valve body..but figured out the servo has to come out first so it will release it. Thank you !
