    In a day and age where every vehicle seems to have every bell and whistle in the options book, sometimes it's nice to just go back to the old school. In the case of #Toyota and their truck/ SUV market, they seem to be taking this to heart. Enter the 2021 #ToyotaTundra. A full-size 1/2 ton who's roots go back to 2007 on it's current platform and is still surviving with the same formula. While other trucks from the good ol' USA are throwing every piece of modern tech and design at their trucks, the Tundra takes a more laid back approach. Add in the aggressive off-road nature of the #TRDPro trim and it's TRD-tuned FOX suspension, rugged design and massive 5.7L #iForce V8 and you'd think this would be ideal for the trucks of today. But is it still enough to keep up with the growing demand for the competitors? Watch the review to find out!

    Nice work with this review of the 2021 Tundra TRD Pro, Bobby! Your commentary is always extremely spot-on.
    Also, that exhaust note while you were accelerating sounded spectacular! ...very throaty and almost like an American Muscle Car! 💯😎
    I agree! The Tundra is beginning to show it's age in areas. Especially when stacked up against its newer competitors, but the price of one of these is quite compelling. For someone looking for a rugged go-anywhere 1/2 ton pickup, the Tundra is a rather solid choice (that theoretically won't pose any unexpected reliability issues).
    By the way, I really love those red center caps and the imitation hood scoop. Definitely adds to the athletic and aggressive persona of this pickup. As always, from one auto reviewer/enthusaist to another, keep up the great work, Bobby!! 🙌🏽

      You got a great deal. Right now on my state used trucks between 2019-2020 are going for more than that. I jut ordered a 2021 limited a couple weeks ago with the trd package and it was $52,230 before taxes and fees. Almost $57k out the door. Hopefully picking it up next week. Cars are too much right now. A year ago I could have probably got a 1794 or trd pro for this price or less. When I ordered this truck they had a 2021 sr5 on the lot going for $50,989. They also had a left over 2021 platinum with 100 miles going for $58k. Those were the only two tundras on the lot. Can't keep them on stock right now.

    I wonder what it would be like if Toyota made heavier duty Tundras 🤔

    • @actionsportster7686
      @actionsportster7686 Před 3 lety +5

      If you buy into almost every prediction being made about the 2022 models, it looks like Toyota is heading in the opposite direction. Those that think they know something are expecting a smaller displacement engine (twin turbo V-6) and independent rear suspension (coil springs vs. leaf). Sounds like a copy of the F150. Despite these things, spy photos show the 2022 trucks with 6-bolt wheels (suggesting higher towing capacity) and the smaller motor is expected to have higher hp and torque numbers. But moving away from a larger displacement engine and changing the rear suspension seems counter intuitive for heavy duty truck. Toyota did recently filed a patent for a high compression engine without spark plugs, and it does not need DEF ... Does that mean a new diesel motor is coming? Only Toyota knows for sure, but given the above mentioned changes, it doesn't seem likely Toyota will offer a diesel in 2022. The 2021 Tundra might be the last model year to get the 5.7 motor, and that to me is disappointing. As the old saying goes, "there's no replacement for displacement". A naturally aspirated V-8 will outlast almost any forced induction V-6. I don't know about you, but I want a truck that will last a long time without troubles. The new motor may not provide the same reliability IMO. I don't understand why Toyota and Nissan have stayed away from the heavy duty market, but if I had to guess I'd say there is probably a bunch of BS government regulation as a result of lobbying going on inside Washington from the big 3, and that has made it very difficult for foreign brands to throw their hat in the ring. Ford, GM and Dodge don't want Toyota to be a player in the HD truck market, and that to me is bad for consumers.

    • @AzenBerries
      @AzenBerries Před 3 lety +1

      @@actionsportster7686 very unfortunate that Toyota is getting rid of the V8. Would want one because those are tried and true engines and everything. Im sure they're new TT V6 will be good since it's probably been in their cars longer over in Japan. I know the LS500 has that engine in there (unless it's a different variant). But I agree with you about the big 3 and government preventing Toyota from making heavy duty trucks (if it's possible but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a reason) hopefully Toyota will offer a V8 again since Lexus brought back a V8 for their IS sedan
