In 1973 I was stationed in Charleston AFB. Right out side of the base there was this 66 or 67 vette on the main drag for sale. I wanted this car so bad, but I did get to test drive, it was a 327 with 365 HP. We were at a red light and a Camaro was next to me, we both took off I hit 2nd and all of a sudden the steering wheel comes back. I didn’t know they had telescopic steering wheel, I just panicked and started pushing it back thinking this was going to take care of this little mishap. I went back on base and called my father and said sell the GTO but that didn’t even begin to workout. Thanks for listening to this ole man and enjoy these rides of yesteryear
Finally, a guy that knows how to drive a Corvette! Great job! Love that growl when going through the gears.
I thought the steering column was gonna drop out. That's some serious vibration there towards the end of the clip
Beautiful Corvette! 🏆🏆
Sorry I opened my big mouth about a 350 had to be in this car I checked and they did not start putting 350s until 1969. So I stand corrected!!
Beautiful vette love it 🇺🇸
Them sidepipes!
Start up side pipes spitting 💘💘💘
Long ago a dude with non ironic sideburns used to drive this every day.
Steering, front end needs serious attention.
Nice hot rod...looks great
Looks like Tarzan, runs like Jane!
Steering???
A scary rebuild!
Beautiful Corvette ❤ I have one question? Where did you get the valve covers with the C3 logo on them.?? I can’t seem to find them.
Better have your big boy pants on when you get out 🎉🎉🎉
It’s a ‘68 alright but I immediately see 4 things they never came with, sidepipes, vent trim, a ‘69 steering wheel, and a fender “Stingray” emblem. The big block hood on a small block car does look nice. NCRS decal suggests it was judged by them but they’d see all the mods at a glance.
well said
Those pipes are aftermarket for sure... but I love 'em. Hooker maybe? I've been poking around looking specifically at the '68s as I'm interested in one & I've seen 2 others online that have the vent trim & "Stingray" emblem. Maybe people really like that look so added them later. But, I know they changed several things during the model year on the '68, some things more than once - something that causes people to shy away from them since parts are so HTF. It seems possible to me that the items you mention other than the pipes are original.
Further research shows pineyLt appears to be correct on all counts. Lots of stuff did change through the '68 model year but it doesn't appear they included these items. Maybe they stole that decal... 😁
Whats with the steering wheel vibration??
I just got my first Corvette and I’m thinking about adding side pipes. I’m worried though because I’m a bigger guy and I have to slide in and out of the car since there’s no tilt column I don’t wanna burn my legs. How far do the pipes typically stick out?
Hermoso Auto 😍 lo venden 😍 ahun esta disponible 😍? Les mando un cordial saludo y un fuerte abrazo desde México 😃🤗👍👌😍👋🏼.
Look at their shoes! They're like the old "hushpuppies." lol! Are they in their dad's 'Vette??
For sale???
I don't own a corvette. I'd own one. Unfortunately, I only own a car that rides like a '63'.
Front end needs a full rebuild. Stop riding that clutch while waiting for traffic, use neutral.
Yep ; engaged clutch is crazy bad, in fact plain bad driving. But he sure can change up, it's a beast.
How much
what headers are those?
hooker or obx
'68? Sure it's not a '69? The Stingray badge over the fender vents did not arrive until '69.
What's with the extra 3rd pedal?
And people that know 'VETTES know those side pipes are cute, but disfunctional. I saw the comprehensive video on Corvette exhaust systems and again, cute.
Front end needs work bad
The clock isn't working.
corvette's never have full tank of gas. range of about 100 miles
I seriously doubt if that is a 68 that that motor is a 327 if it's the original motor is probably a 350 or or a 427 but I can't imagine why you would downgrade to a 327!!
68 came with 327. 350 only came in 69!
You know what is wrong with this car? Absolutely nothing!
Beautiful paint but hidden front end issues.
front end issues...look at that steering wheel vibrate
Steering vibration scares me just watching
