  • In this video i show you my Virtual Pinball machine. It not a "how to build" video but more to show the ideas I had for features and some of the things I did different with mine. If you are looking to build a VP, maybe this video will give you some ideas and I hope you have fun with it.
    Here is the link to the controller that I used in this game.

    The red and black theme on the table is right up my alley. I made a red and black touchscreen jukebox as well as a Van Halen bartop. Your pin cab would look great alongside mine LOL. Well done sir.

    I love your solution to getting max screen right up to the edges! And I think those red panels look really slick and give it a nice accent. Honestly, before you got to the part about why they were there, I was taking mental note to maybe put something like that on my upcoming table. Great work!

    A good upgrade would be to add all the internal toys - exciters, solenoids, shaker, etc. Nowadays they not only look good but have a lot more real feel with all the physical clicks and parts moving inside. Nice build!

    I'd love to see a build video! I also agree as to "sinking" the playfield.I have 3 old pinballs from the 70's that had the grid of holes instead of a normal playfield.They were never very popular,but had gorgeous stained wood cabinets.Think I'm gonna refit 1 or 2 to VP machines,so any info on the plunger setup,or your entire build would be awesome!!!You obviously gained a sub!Thanks for sharing!

    very cool, nice job! totally echo your reasoning for having a virtual pinball setup and how its not a 'replacement' for real pinball, its just a compromise that provides many capabilities that just arent possible going the real route (space, huge library, - and i hadnt even thought of the 'plugin headphones' aspect)... again hopefully nobody sees it as an actual replacement, just another way to appreciate the nostalgia and fun of pinball. I'd like to see videos from you on software setup, utilizing multiple platforms in the same build (vpin + other virtual pinball platforms) etc

    Really great idea choosing to maximise the screen for the play field rather than the stickers and information at the bottom. Such a killer the plunger gets cut off though. Am wondering if an additional small screen can be mounted on the bottom to show this 🤔

      I actually play it more than I thought I would. I think VPs can be set up so differently with equipment and software that some play great and some are awful. Mine plays great and it is a lot of fun. A lot of the VP software out there is real cartoonish and I don’t care for that. I want it to be a more realistic experience.

    If you used the same size tv in a widebody machine the virtual play fields would be the same but it would look different relative to the cabinet itself? Sorry, trying to decide if a similar cutout method is warranted or just putting the same size tv in widebody machine

    • @LonnyPayne
      @LonnyPayne  Před 3 lety

      The bigger screen allows the image to touch the sides of the cabinet. This looks more like a real machine. It tables are adjusted so the edge of the table stops at the side of the cabinet so there is actually a little bit of the screen not used. This also allows the screen to reach closer to the back. Using the same size screen in a wide body would leave the bezel around the edge of the screen between the tv and the side of the cabinet. I personally don’t like that but it’s up to the user. There are a lot of different ways to set it up. The way I did it added some complication to the build process but it was worth it to me.

    • @paulharder407
      @paulharder407 Před 3 lety

      @@LonnyPayne thanks. Also on your guts video, it wasn't clear if you added any solenoids or anything for the typical flipper, slingshot, bumper sounds. If you didn't, do you feel that would add a lot to the VP experience?
      Do you find that your side of the cabinet is weaker since you've cut out sections on both sides for the tv?

    • @LonnyPayne
      @LonnyPayne  Před 3 lety

      @@paulharder407 I have not added those yet but I would like to do that at some point. I think it would add some extra realism to the experience.

    Lonny, I’m in north Louisiana and was wondering if you know of anyone in our area that is willing to come set up my cabinet with the visual X software. I have a fully finished cabinet that works with FX3 games that I purchased I have tried to upgrade it myself but it gets too involved for my computer knowledge. Maybe someone that can connect to it remotely if they won’t travel. Thanks of course I would pay for this not asking for someone to do it for free. 😂

    i dont quite get how you could play this over the real pinball machines?

    • @LonnyPayne
      @LonnyPayne  Před 4 lety

      As I mentioned in the video, it is not meant to “replace” pinball machines. It’s meant to compliment them. You can play games that you don’t own and will never own. It’s all about the set up. I have played VPs that suck. If you have the right computer and the right set up they can play amazingly real. With the new 4K tables our now, it’s impressive. I have 14 real machines in my gameroom and I still play my VP all the time. And it’s also nice to play with headphones after everyone is asleep and “real” pinball is not an option. I have a video that should be posted in the next day or two on the “guts” of this machine. Thanks for the question.

      Thanks for the response. I saw all you're real tables, that's why I couldn't really fathom playing VP if I had access to real ones, except maybe, I don't know, to try a table out, but I'd just use a PC and use the money you spent on the virtual one on a real pinball machine. I don't have the money you seem to have, maybe that's why my perspective was initially tainted, plus I could see why you'd play with headphones if you wanted to be quiet and that is great for that.
      Thanks again!
