  • In this I show you how to fix a common problem of the headlight either not wanting to go up or down without a little nudge.
    Please check back for more updates on the restoration of this Fiero and for modifications that I have planned.

    Heh. I found Headlight motors for my '86 GT. NEW motors. From basically ANY auto parts store.
    THEY ARE THE SAME AS A FIREBIRD'S, ONLY OPPOSITE SIDES!!! I've rebuilt sooooo many of these, early and later models, and they aren't bad. Just buy the new ones... Also check the fusible link by the "firewall" if neither are working.

      @@LonnyPayneApologies. Just wanted the info to stand out from the rest. I was that excited to share hahahaha. Also, the years of the cars will coincide, might have to splice the connectors.

      It’s odd they don’t market it that way. But if the part number doesn’t match, the world is gonna end. lol

      @@LonnyPayne Indeed. i matched up the pics on websites, realized they would work. I emailed the parts distributors to let them know, but who knows if they read it. I used to have an 87 trans am, and worked on earlier ones, so i knew they were the same.
      My 86 GT is gonna have a 3800 SC pretty soon...... Wish me luck!

      @@alexalvarado7397 the two lower bolts are in slots so you just loosen them,then remove the two upper bolts and lift out the whole assembly after unplugging the wires

    You don't have to take the headlight assembly apart.Just 4 bolts holding it in

    My 1984 headlights don't want to go down. Could it be the switches?

    • @LonnyPayne
      @LonnyPayne  Před 3 měsíci

      I could be the exact same problem with the other switch. If you turn the manual spinner, with they activate and go down?

    Doesn't seem like my symptoms are covered here, maybe. Right headlight comes up weak. Hood open light up all the way. Hood closed light comes up only half way. Leads to weak motor. But would like to hear what you might suggest. Fiero, 87GT, 29k miles. Some years ago I did replaced the nylon cylinders pieces.

    • @LonnyPayne
      @LonnyPayne  Před 9 měsíci

      Yeah. Sounds like a weak motor. When the hood is open and the light comes all the way up, does it do it fast or sluggish because it should be pretty fast. I would probably take the mech apart and make sure all the gears are clean and not gummed up and then re lube and see if that makes a difference.

      Great video i have to pull mine to diagnose why it dont stop running when it goes up. What does that single wire plug into? I just got the car and both relays were removed. I got new relays but domt see what that single wire goes to.
