However with that being said I 100% stand by my previous comment that the aforementioned Hall of Fame left tackle (LT) Willie Roaf was the best offensive lineman of that group followed by Hall of Fame right guard (RG) Will Shields. I will say 6x Pro-Bowl left guard (LG) Brian Waters is next in line as an Honorable Mention while the aforementioned center (C) Casey Wiegmann, & right tackle (RT) John Tait each were above average players at their respective positions but in my humble opinion they weren’t on the level of Willie Roaf or Will Shields to have the title of best offensive lineman from this team for clarification.

I was born and raised in KC and Trent Green was one of my favorite Chiefs players growing up. However I moved to Florida when my dad had a job change right after high school. Been in Florida ever since with a handful of trips back to KC to see family.
On our most recent trip to KC, we ran into Trent Green and his family at a local BBQ joint. They were sitting at the table right next to us. When I showed up after ordering, Trent was chatting with my wife and kids. She had no idea who he was but he was super cool and legit. Nicest guy you could have met and I'm honored to have met him in person. Stand up guy on and off the field and wish him and his family only the best.

Mother worked at Barns and Noble many years ago. One day Tony G walked in and asked for some books. Mom had no idea who he was but could swear his name was familiar. She asked him if he played for the Royals and he simply smiled and politely said “No, I’m not a baseball player.”
In fact she didn’t know who it was until my father went to get a haircut. She’d told him the story (my dad doesn’t care much for sports) and as he’s relating the story to the barber he couldn’t quite remember the name. “Antonio Ga-... Gon...”(etc.) until finally someone just screamed “TONY GONZALEZ!?!!! TONY GONZALEZ!!!!”

@@tempest20000 idk how HOF voting officially works, idk if anyone does haha( yes I could come up with a formula but then we all know guys left out who shouldn’t be..) but in terms of Ricky, I honestly think that his career stats are...no...I know they are good enough for the Hall. BUT a lack of playoff success AND he’s a black spot in the leagues eyes for retiring and all of the failed drug tests when not only was he one of the most popular backs, but he was so popular other pros were coming into the league and mimicking his dreads and visor( legit someone argued this with me last week so I looked it up I found so many articles written about how he made the visor famous and the dreads etc etc etc. I KNOW they both existed well before him, but Ricky Williams was SO popular in 2002. Mega star. It was Cuz if his college career, then over 3k yards his 3 years with the saints, and then of course Mia)
I honestly think Ricky should be in the Hall. It feels so wrong for the story of nfl history to be told without him. Because of the entirety of the story AND because of the happy ending. I mean it’s so amazing to me that he not only made his way back into the league but he finished near the top 10 in rushing with over 1,000 yards not even being a full time back. And he had idk like 4 or 5 total successful years after his return. It’s not like he is Vick or anything. He is one of the kindest people in NFL history. Just one of those guys who hated the attention that game with the NFL and had anxiety get its worst at the same time he joined the league. Don’t take my word for it though warch the nfl films on him.
Also haha, he is near the top of the list of most rushing yards per game for a season twice. Not just his 2002 but in 2000, only his second year in the league, he averaged 100 ypg but got hurt and only ran for 1000. He also turned the saints from jokes into a playoff team....and had his success with the ravens later on.
I know at the end of the day so many backs and players should be in the Hall who aren’t. I love Ricky. I love priest. I like Ricky Watters even. Priest doesn’t have the career rushing totals of some of those, never hit 10k, but how can we leave out possibly a top 5 back in his prime to ever play the game!!?

I love watching quarterbacks throw blocks like that he was so good and that Chiefs O-line back then was one of the best offensive lines ever put together along with FB Tony Richardson. That offensive line played and started in like 20 or 30 something straight games together as a unit without anyone going down with injury it was like the longest streak at that time to ever do that.

Ricky Williams was a beast mode in the early 2000s until he retired in 2004, then got himself involved in using marijuana during his retirement. When he returned, he was suspended for the 2006 season and had to play CFL Football one year, and he was never the same after he returned. Sad downward spiral of what looks to be perhaps a potential H.O.F. career
