For Super Earth!
@@king_supreme1102, by the mouth of many witnesses a thing is established. Habakkuk and Ezekiel speak.
Habakkuk 1:9-13 "All come, Hamas, assemble the horde of the east, gather the captives like sand. Mock the ruler, and their judgment a joke, laugh as all strongholds become rubble, seize them, then pass through like the wind, pass through guilty by the strength of your god. From of old Yahweh, He is the god Holy, who died? Yahweh, the appointed judge, and the Rock will establish the judgment. The one who was overcome is pure. He sees the evil's power. Look at the evil. What do you see? Do you favor the ones who do wickedly? Are you silent when the wicked swallow those more righteous than them?"
Habakkuk 3:11-13 "From the east the crescent stood at the heights, walking in the light of the weapons, the radiance of Barack (Husein Obama) from the thrust. There is indignation at his march on the Earth; in anger he trampled the nations. He went forth for the salvation of his people; for the salvation he's anointed. Now strike the head of the house of the wicked; lay him open from thigh to neck, commune with the Lifted High."
Ezekiel 1:13-14 “for the living being was like a consumed ember, a consumed vision upright, shall he walk among living beings, fiery and bright was Barack, he had come out of the consummation. The living beings ran to and fro before the vision of Barack.”
Ezekiel 21:2-5 "Son of man set your face towards Jerusalem, and speak against the sanctuary and prophecy against the land of Israel, and say to the land of Israel, "Thus saith Yahweh, "Behold I am against, and the drawn sword from the sheath, and cut off shall be the righteous and the wicked. ON THIS ACCOUNT cut off the righteous and the wicked, thus the drawn sword from the sheath, against all flesh south north, ALL FLESH SHALL KNOW YAHWEH, the drawn sword from the sheath, never to turn back again."""
Ezekiel 21:9-12 “Son of man prophecy and say, Yahweh utters, “a sword, a sword is sharpened and moreover laid bare, sharpened for slaughter the slaughter of laid bare Barack, for shall we rejoice at the son who rejects all the branches of humanity? For it was first given laid bare the handle sharpened and laid bare and set into the hand of the destroyer (Abaddon or Apollyon). Cry out in anguish, son of man. And my people, all the so blessed of God’s Word (Israel) are delivered unto the sword. My people! Thus I shall strike him at the thigh.”
Ezekiel 21:13-15 “Test your community. Truly, also the scepter which despises shall be no more, declares the Lord Yahweh. Son of man prophecy and clap your hands together, the sword twice, and now the third time, the sword pierces, the sword for the great one as it pierces those who indwelt and surrounded them. The inner being (demons) weaken greatly, they were brought down to cause stumbling, All of them are at the gate (of hell). Give them to slaughter by the sword. Alas, they had made Barack (Hussein Obama) and caught themselves up for the slaughter.”
Ezekiel 21:28 “and son of man prophecy and say, All utters Lord Yahweh, towards teaching towards this reproach, say a sword, a sword has been drawn and laid bare for the slaughter to consume Barack.”
Do Job and Moses the earliest writers of the Holy Bible agree with this testimony?
Job 26:6 "naked death before Abaddon, and nothing shall cover them over."
Job 26:13-14 “by his breath the heavens are cleared, his hand shall pierce BARACK, a serpent. Behold ALLAH the end of his ways. How? A whisper, a word, hear the strength and the thunder. Who can discern?”
Deuteronomy 29:25-29 "and they will say, 'ALLAH (the accursed), for they forsook the covenant of Yahweh the God of their fathers, Asshur (he who shall come forth) shall cut off they who were brought out of the land of Egypt.' They will come to serve another god (Allah), and prostrate before a god, Asshur (he who shall come forth) shall know to divide. And the breath of Yahweh shall burn against that land (Palestine whole - see Isaiah 14:29-31) to bring upon all a curse written in this book. Yahweh shall uproot the land in anger, fury of great wrath, to cast another land as it is this day concealed. Yahweh our God. Uncover the Son. For unto the last, this is the observance of all of the words of this book of law."
Deuteronomy 32:41 “Truly I cut into Barack with a sword, for My hand shall accomplish justice, I will turn back the vengeance of My adversaries, to repay all those who hate Me.”
Zephaniah 2:12 "Moreover Cush (horn of Africa black man) I shall slay by My sword."
I can't imagine a religion so stupid as to pick a man to be their leader who already had two times, was cut off to prosper in the sense Trump made hatred grow, denied the desire of women in that Hillary was denied, but they froze the vote in six states to give you an image of his time. He came into office with Nobel Peace Prize already in his hand and put a piece of paper (grain offering) into the wing of the temple (Wailing Wall) and even turned the key to a bottomless pit by WikiLeaks and an Arab Apology Tour that ended with him kissing the ring of the Saudi Prince ove the Ka'aba and during that Arab Spring three kings were removed in Egypt, Libya, and Tunesia in less than one month (29 days) and since this Arab Spring the second beast under a false prophet has been burning down churches in Europe in the thousands such that it can be said they give their power unto the image of a beast.
Imagine picking someone to prostrate to that will literally rule for one hour with ten chosen important Arabs to also rule with him for one hour, but that's it. Palestine melts when Palestine is whole per Isaiah 14:28-31 because Barack Hussein Obama has already fulfilled all the Bible passages about him and so Muslims just want to rush to burn in hell with demons. Too dumb to know pick someone else and maybe you could avoid hell for seven years as that man might have to fulfill some things before they all go to hell.
@@SeeFoodDie, so now how many more witnesses beyond four (4) do we need, when the witnesses wrote the Holy Bible and thus are reliable?
Psalms 77:10
"and I uttered, 'it is making me sick, that the year has become the right hand of ALLAH.'"
Psalms 77:18
“The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind, BARACK lit up the whole world. The Earth shall tremble in agitation, shake.”
Psalms 77:16-20
“The waters shall see Elohim, the waters shall see a whirling in the depth, yea, tremble in agitation. The clouds shall pour forth the waters, the skies shall give forth a voice, arrows shall flash. The sound of your thunder was in the whirlwind, BARACK lit up the whole world. The Earth shall tremble in agitation, shake. The traveling was of the sea, the path in the mighty waters, and your footprint shall be known. You led your people as a flock, your hands, Moses and Aaron.”
Psalms 97:4
“BARACK lit up the whole world, the Earth, see it tremble.”
Psalms 97:1-6
“YAHWEH reigns on the Earth so rejoice, many lands shall rejoice in the clouds, a mass surrounded in righteousness, the judgment shall fall on the foundations, for His throne. Fire comes before to consume the adversaries round about. BARACK lit up the whole world, the Earth, see it tremble. The mountain melted like wax before the face of YAHWEH, before the face of YAHWEH, all the Earth. For the heavens declare His righteousness, all the peoples see His glory.”
Job 20:25-29 “Draw out and go through the back, BARACK shall remove all strength, a dreadful overcoming shall flow forth. All is darkness, the reserve he has stored it up, an unfanned fire will devour consuming the survivor in his tent. The heavens shall reveal his iniquity and the Earth will rise up. The increase of his house will desist downward the run forth, the day of his anger. This wickedness of man is the portion of gods, and the inheritance decreed by the Word of God.”
Job 38:35-36 “Can you send BARACK, and make him go and say, “Behold who pierced wisdom in the inward parts to run forth,” also given understanding to the appearing.”
Isaiah 14:14 "ALLAH OBAMA ab (in dark outer garment) dama (I will become) elyown (the god over all things)."
Isaiah 27:1 “In that day YAHWEH will punish the beast of the sea, BARACK, a serpent. The fierce and great and mighty sword ALLAH, the beast of the sea, crooked, a serpent, and He will kill it, the Dragon, ASSHUR, of the sea.”
Isaiah 30:30-33 "YAHWEH the voice of authority, and listen BARACK, for the strength shall be seen as rage in the nostrils and flames shall consume with fire storm in a downpour, the voice of YAHWEH. Asshur will be terrified. He shall strike with the rod. All shall be hit with the rod of punishment, Asshur. YAHWEH will rest at the sound and work in battle, for the wave offering of the battle is a burning of flesh long set in order. Moreover the firm King shall cut deep and large at the pyre in fire and shall stand breathing. YAHWEH shall whirlwind the fire and the brimstone shall ensure all is consumed.”
Psalms 18:13-15 says, "Yahweh thundered from heaven, and Allah uttered his voice, hail of ember and fire, and he sent out arrows, BARACK had an abundance, confused, the channels of the sea appeared the foundations of the world laid bare, by the rebuke of Yahweh at the breath of His nostrils."
2 Samuel 22:14-16 says, "Yahweh thundered from heaven, and Allah uttered his voice, and he sent out arrows and BARACK was confused, the channels of the sea appeared the foundation of the world laid bare, by the rebuke of Yahweh at the breath of His nostrils."
Zechariah 9:14 "Yahweh shall appear over the arrows coming from BARACK. For the Lord, Yahweh, will blow the trumpet, and they will march into the storms of the South."
Daniel 10:6 “His body was tan, his face the appearance of Barack, and eyes a consumed shine; his legs and feet to the eye a burnished bronze, and the sound of his voice where like words given to a multitude.”
Nahum 3:3 “horsemen lift up the sword, and blade pierces Barack, the multitude is slain, and the mass of corpses is innumerable dead bodies, and they stumble over the dead.”
Psalms 144:4-6 “Adam was like unto vapor, for his days were in shadow and culminated. The reach was the heavens for YAHWEH and yet he descended touching the mountain and it smoked. The flash of BARACK dispersed sending forth arrows (nuclear weapons) with noise."
Luke 10:18 "I saw SATAN as BARACK OBAMA."
Matthew 24:27-28 "For as BARACK cometh out of the East and shineth even so far as the West so shall it be at the coming of the Son of man, for wherever the bodies lie so too an EAGLE IN UNION."
Revelation 16:17-19 “For even the seventh was poured, a bowl into the air, great voice came out of the temple from the throne saying, “DONE.” BARACK voiced thunder great, shaking of a manner as never had been from the time man had come into being on Earth, this person was of great lineage, great earthquake like unto this. The great city split into three parts, a city of nations fell, Babylon great was remembered in the sight of God, to give her the cup of wine, PASSION for wrath."
Quran 13:11b-14a says, “Never doeth Allah change the condition of a people, excepting they change themselves, and Allah intendeth evil for all people, and there is no stopping him. Neither doeth he accept an equal. Barack is he who showeth you the face of Allah, giving a fear and a hope, though heavy the clouds and the thunder, exalt and prostrate to him, for even angels fear him, for he sendeth forth thunderbolts, striking whom he wills, while they dispute before the face of Allah, and he is severe in his attack. To him alone are the prayers in truth."
Quran 7:45-47 says, “Who shall avert people from the path of Allah? And who will be declared the maker of deception? They were focused on the Hereafter, disbelievers. Between them shall be a barrier a family of men of Obama, who shall recognize them all by their markings. And one (Barack Obama) shall call out to the companions of Paradise, “PEACE ON YOU.” They shall not have entered, but shall have the assurance. And his eyes shall turn towards the people to be torched for they cry out, “Lord let us not be cast into fire among the wicked” but the man Obama shall say, “I know you by your looks, but none of your riches or pride of life shall avail you now, for these men have sworn that you may never earn the mercy of Allah.” Then he shall turn to his own BARACK (the blessing) shall say, “Come with me to paradise, for you will have nothing to fear, neither regret.””
While they're talking to Barack Hussein Obama they are worried about the fact they're about to be torched. Good to know.
"Dune" and "Star Wars" are related and I read "Dune" the book as a child, but don't forget the writer Edgar Rice Burroughs.
I love "Star Wars" since a child. I hated "Dune" in 1984 with Sting. I love Sting as an musician. "Dune" in 2021 is good and I really liked it, but somehow the Anti-Christ (Mahdi) making it to Jerusalem is unlikely to surpass "Star Wars." It might be interesting in a SCI-FI film to see Islam's vision of peace, and so I am glad that "Dune" will have a part two, but I'm not holding my breath that it will make the top 100 favorite movies. But the vision of the first one showed it just might.
As a child when I read the book I felt it pulled from Lawrence of Arabia and Islamic culture of the Caucasus or Bedouin tribes of Arabia, but I never got the idea of Atreides being America with capitalism waning. The movie in 2021 helped me see that connection. The Fremen call Paul the Mahdi is a dead give away that this whole thing is an Islamic end times vision. Hence the dead bodies that Paul sees piling up as he fulfills his place in history, by leaving America and being a Muslim as that is how the movie ends.
Here is where these three related series have fallen so far and any you don't see aren't loved enough to mention.
20) Star Wars: the Empire Strikes Back (1980)
21) Star Wars: a New Hope (1977)
112) John Carter (2012)
148) Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983)
269) Dune (2021)
To quote the author "I am showing you the superhero syndrome and your own participation in it." - Frank Herbert, speaking about "Dune."
"A Princess of Mars," from 1912, inspired things like: Star Wars, Avatar, Indiana Jones, Superman, and Dune. "A Princess of Mars" even inspired Ray Douglas Bradbury. If you want to see a movie of it, see "John Carter" from 2012.
But the main reason for me to watch Dune 2 is to see whether Zendaya Coleman surpasses female actresses I loved in the past.
10) Spiderman: No Way Home (2021)
96) The Greatest Showman (2017)
190) Spiderman: Far from Home (2019)
197) Spiderman: Homecoming (2017)
269) Dune (2021)
Now you bring up LOTR and I only liked three of those movies enough to put them into my top 350 movies.
65) The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)
74) The Hobbit: an Unexpected Journey (2012)
130) The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug (2013)
the black sun creating a black and white environment but in the shadows its colorized really just did it for me re giedi prime
I loved the scenes in Giedi Prime. The sandworm riding was so intense. I loved that scene and the choreography with Timothy Chalamet and Austin Butler was great. Just a great job all around.
It was absolutely gorgeous. That whole section of the movie really did it for me. Diabolical stuff.
I'd watch a whole movie about Feyd doing his thing on Geidi Prime.
@@johnjungkook2721 me too!! I needed a little more time on Giedi Prime. I also liked seeing Lea Seydoux as a proper Bene Gesserit.
The fireworks were really cool as well, he nailed Giedi Prime
The IMAX experience is mandatory, the vibrations from the sounds and explosions are just incredible. Also of note is the amount of wide, sweeping vistas that really bring out that Lawrence of Arabia vibe, the tiny silhouettes against massive objects.
It was my first experience in imax and boy oh boy. Seeing this in 70mm prolly just ruined standard theaters for me 😂
Yeah I can see why the source material was deemed unfilmable for decades. It was remarkable what I was seeing conveyed on screen basically every 5 mins, something that I know without a doubt, a lesser filmmaker would’ve absolutely ruined. They found a way to nail such challenging, complex, bizarre, and risky concepts in a really digestible and serious way.
100% agree. You can probably count on one hand the number of filmmakers alive today who have the talent and track record even to attempt a production like this.
I just got home from the IMAX fan preview. It’s incredible.
Yes. It is very rare for me not to be able to say anything bad about a film. enjoyed every minute of it.
It was like a religious service in the one I went to, it was packed but everyone was silent throughout the whole movie
IMAX is the ideal format for this flick. One of the most epic experiences I've had at the movies in years.
I'm overwhelmed. Took tomorrow off of work so I can ruminate on the film. This is like 6 years of anticipation come to a close so I feel weirdly cathartic.
I know the feeling. I've lived with such an intense mix of dread and excitement for so long, it is hard to put into words what a relief it is to see how it all turned out.
@@geekinwithJamesHancockMaybe the real Dune is the friends we made along the way.
same, I have too many feelings, I am tired. But it is everything i ever could ask for, and more.
So true. And now that i have seen it, im worried about waiting to see it again!
@@SJ.INFO5000What a strange comment to make.
MY "plans within plans" in the lead-up to seeing "Part II" on Thursday all relate to how to manage my 65-year old bladder...
😂 The struggle is real! Best of luck from a 60 year old!
Definitely take it easy on the caffeine and water ahead of time, but even if you miss or two scenes, that's just a good excuse to watch it all over again.
You’ll be so immersed it won’t be a problem, trust me.
Take a liquid v in the morning and drink nothing else. You'll sail through the movie with no issues.
Sit in the back row, you'll have a bucket sized soda cup, and the movie's so loud nobody will hear you peeing into your cup. 😅
I had to take a pee break & saw other guys jogging between the theater and the restroom.
Absolutely loved it. As a novel reader, the changes were done in good taste and worked better on screen and better served the film narrative in my opinion. Just an epic triumph. This is cinema. This is Sci-Fi.
Finally we have some proper sci-fi for diehard fans of the genre. So many sci-fi movies feel like thinly disguised fantasy, but this flick knows exactly what movie it wants to be.
Adaptations are always a challenge and this one must have been monumental but they nailed it in every way possible. So many great bits from the book made the film. “Old fashioned artillery! Brilliant” 😂👌
I'd watch a whole movie about Feyd doing his thing on Geidi Prime.
100%. Nothing quite like watching a kick ass villain who loves being a diabolical badass.
Watching this film felt like watching a historical drama, just like when I read the books. Dune is one of those sagas that feels like something that has taken place already and is so epic but also so alien that when I revisit, there is always something new to appreciate.
Despite the deviation from the last half of the first book, I did get that feeling with this movie and did love it. Everyone in the theater was silent and very attentive, which tells you how hooked they were on this.
While I wasn't sure about Geidi Prime when I saw it on the trailers, it did work once I saw it in the big screen. The black sun reminded me of black star from David Bowie. And I like how the designs of the Harkonen fiefdom and their soldiers was very Giger-esque
Just seen it as well. Completely blown away
Just a colossal experience. I was spellbound for most of it.
I don’t have any issues with how they handled Alia. A time jump like that would’ve completely taken audiences out of the movie and disrupted the flow.
It wouldn't have required much of a time jump. This flick already tackles many months of constant warfare. I doubt the audience would have even noticed if told the war had been going on for two or three years.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock okay even if the time jump didn’t disrupt it (which I still think it would’ve), are you really gonna have a 2 year old believably running around acting like a full on adult? Would you have preferred a cgi mess? They really couldn’t have handled it better.
the fact that right when i started getting into denis movies dune part 1 got announced, he instantly became my favorite director from prisoner, sicario and enemy. And on top of that i got into timothee chalamet movies and he is great in every character he plays. So when i found out these 2 were doing a movie together although i haven’t heard of dune this got me into to lore and made me fascinated.
They make a great team. Chalamet is rapidly turning into a full blown superstar. Loved his performance in this latest movie.
FINALLY, a great movie emerges early in 2024! Seeing this in Imax!
I've got a lot of movies on the calendar that I'm fired up to see but this is an early contender for my favorite flick of the year.
It’s pretty remarkable how well the first movie did in the box office given the circumstances. I think part 2 will make twice as much
I'm thinking the same thing. That simultaneous digital release on HBO Max definitely took a massive bite out of the box office the first time around.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock and Covid. We were still fresh off the pandemic. I think Dune and Godzilla vs Kong did a lot to get some people back in seats so I’m REALLY happy Dune 2 is getting the release treatment it deserves
This was literally a once in a lifetime experience for me. It's the first time ever, especially as a netflix generation kid, where i actually understood why cinemas exist. What the word cinematic really means in film, what epic really means in film.
After my first watch i literally became depressed that there might be a possibility i would never see this on the big screen ever again. I went for a second time after that lol. Guess what, going again this week.
just saw it tonight at the fan showing. OMG. First thing I did when I got home was to buy a ticket for Thursday when it officially opens wide. 🍿🏆
Excellent call on your part. I imagine this flick is going to get a ton of repeat viewings.
I've seen it this Saturday. I adored it. Thank you Denis Villeneuve.
I went with my mom and after we talked a lot about messiah, faith, war, nuclear war, water resource, love vs duty, it was such a good conversation.
Years ago, whenever I went to see a movie, I would hold that 2nd half stub of the paper ticket in my hands during my viewing. When I came out, I would check it - a bent, creased, fold spindle and mutilated stub was a zero or one star equivalent, while a nearly perfect unblemished stub was the sure sign of a five star rating.
I dig it! I used to have a drink test. If my drink was full at the end that was a very good sign, but I've given up paying ten bucks for a drink at the theater.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock totally get that and I agree the snacks are overpriced. The thing to remember is, those snacks are what actually pay the bills for the theater. They have to share ticket revenue with the studios.
But the studios aren’t paying the multi-million-dollar loans that the theaters need to take out to buy good projectors and sound systems, and build/renovate their space into a theater. If you think a mortgage is bad, you will faint when you look at the expenses to run a movie theater that have to be done through a loan.
So the only way the they can cover their bills and maybe turn a profit is through snacks (and some arcade games in the good ones.)
It sucks for all involved (except the studios), but the status quo of the film industry kind of requires theaters to put a heavy markup on snacks.
It almost makes me wish the “United States vs. Paramount Pictures” Supreme Court case never happened. Almost.
I saw the movie last night and was completely captivated. It’s great to hear the perspective of someone who’s read the books. Can’t wait to see it again!
I have a feeling that there are going to be millions of us who feel the same way where we're dying to see the movie multiple times.
I read an interview by DV where he said tha during writng Part One he knew he had to make a choice between the Bene Geserit and the Mentats as who he would focus on. That he couldn't do both and so he chose the Bene Geserrit.
That seems like an easy choice to make if that's what it really came down to. As much as I might've liked to see more exploration of that part of the lore, the book is packed with so much it's easy for a film to get bogged down, so I understand streamlining the story.
As it relates to Paul's ascension to becoming the KH, the mentat training isn't exactly needed. I think having the carefully crafted blood lineage coupled with BG training, and the spice being the catalyst that opens his mind, there's enough there for the formula to work.
That's fair, but I've always loved how Paul's Mentat training plays a role in allowing him to foresee the mathematical probability of possible future outcomes.
I just hope they refer to him as the Mentat Emperor at some point at least once in the next movie.
Gonna see dune part 1 and part 2 together as a double feature double billing cant wait in Dolby hrre in Australia we have VMAX so best i can get on Wednesday February 28 here in Australia so glad to see both movies in the theatre in one sitting
You’re gonna experience the rumbling friend
Yeah I wanted to watch both on Wednesday in imax but have to work 😢
That is going to be a colossal evening at the movies. Definitely pack a picnic.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock thanks will do can't wait.
Just got out of the film. It was absolutely incredible. I love the novels, and I can't wait to see Messiah adapted. Great review, I appreciate your input as always.
Dune(2021) was also released during a COVID effected timeframe. And released same day on HBO. So it may have done more than 40 million if it released at a different time.
I think the Dune you want as in the book, would need to be a 13 hour long episodes series with GoT budget. I would love that obviously but I'm happy to get Dune as is and since a lot of people didn't read the books they wont know the differences.
The worst part of seeing this movie will be having to hear all of the unintelligent, low attention span takes.
Hopefully I don't fall into that category, lol!
A guy i know saw the first one and called it a stupid Star Wars ripoff lol.
Didnt even have the patience to tell him that Lucas wrote SW because Dune inspired him.
@@geekinwithJamesHancockYou don’t lmfao

Every emotion finally released.. found your reviews through part one, been a follower since. Got the best seats in the house, perfect movie. Chills.
Thanks for sticking with me the last few years and I'm thrilled you had the same experience that I did. The chills were insane.
Finally saw it. 2 hours and 40 minutes of Sci Fi bliss. Lived up to every one of my expectations
I also disliked some of the creative decisions that deviated from the book. But I still think it’s a 5-star movie because it rises well above its seemingly obvious flaws.
Agreed. We can have fun debating what the flick got right and wrong on a few key details, but overall the movie is a thunderous experience.
When I saw the length of the video it was clear how much you loved this film. As always you nailed it on many levels. I agree Villeneuve and Nolan are amazing.
Thanks for the kind words and I did indeed love this movie dearly. Haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Can't wait to get back in the theater for round 2.
I saw Dune Part 2 once at the very first available showing at my local theater, then five times later on the very last possible showing at my theater. Unbelievably rich and thorough piece of cinematic art. I feel like knowing about the books would have diminished my enjoyment of the film.
Just got back from seeing it in IMAX. WOW…..excellent movie. I was surprised at how moved I was with the closing shot.
I don't think its better than Arrival or Sicario tbh. The first hour I find the pacing odd and transitions abrupt. Final hour was beyond amazing, worm's coming through the smoke is the best thing I've ever seen in film, incredibly well done.
Okay, James, you've sold me on this one.
Hope you it, Fred! This a strong contender for the movie of the year.
I understand why you have an issue with Hawat's absence in the film, but honestly, even though he has a role in that part of the book, his role is not really necessary to the bigger story in my opinion. So I understood why they left him out.
Shai Hulud! I'm glad you had a good time. that argument in the men's room is hilarious. I'm saddened by the changes but if you're fine with it than I'm fine with it. I am also thinking positive thoughts that the film will do well. Great review. Can't wait till Thursday. Does Austin Butler walk out of a steam room with just a black leather speedo showing off his rock'n bod?
I really did not like the Alia change. The other changes I was mostly ok with.
No silver mankini but I have a feeling Austin Butler's star power is going to soar even higher after this. He really leans into Feyd and all of his sadistic qualities.
Just saw it in IMAX and can't remember having so many chills in a movie. Just one epic eye-watering shot after another - and the religious, false-prophet themes were explored in such an interesting and thought provoking manner. Will be watching at least another couple of times.
10/10 review. You're always killing it man!
Many thanks for the encouragement. That kind of reaction definitely helps me get fired up for my next video.
Rebecca Ferguson amazing again! I'm just not sold on Chalemet at all, he's just saying his lines with no conviction, even when he yells. Not trying to be a hater, he just seemed flat and there for the paycheck. Amazing big screen movie made with love and reverence. Thank you Villeneuve!
Just got out and no other way to celebrate than watching it at the state of origin where dune came from itself Oregon! Read the book since I was 12(26 now) and I am still in disbelief how mainstream this franchise has gain! I felt cathartic the entire time watching the premiere…
I visited the sand dunes of Oregon back in the summer of 1995. Awe inspiring.
@@geekinwithJamesHancockI’m hoping to visit there someday, wanna work on encouraging my introvert self on a stillsuit cosplay and hoping to do photo shoots at the location itself!
Villeneuve has said in an interview that the hardest decision he had to make was to take out Thufir Hawat, that he adores his character and the mentats as a whole but as he put it, he was making a "Bene Gesserit adaptation", he didn't have the time to include him.... I think the Spacing Guild was treated worse, first time viewers didn't really understand this universe from the first movie. The importance of spice.
The film was absolutely incredible. One element of the film I wanted to mention that you passed on was the score. Zimmer's score for this film was knock-your-socks-off good - at least in my opinion. Right up there with Interstellar and Inception.
My wife and I saw Dune 2 last night. The hype is real. Visually stunning, from wide, big landscape, action/battle shots/sequences to costume design and sets. Good story and good action. Terrific sound and score. Chalamet pulls it off. Didn't think he could. Austin Butler is great, as is Rebecca Furguson. Very highly recommended for a movie theater experience. Seeing it in IMAX would totally rock if you can. Some of the scenes and the sound and score gave me goose bumps even in our small theater. My only criticisms are that some of the time frames jump too much and there's still not enough character development. Oh and I had a hard time taking Christopher Walken seriously as the emperor of the universe.
Many thanks for the nuanced review, a big brained analysis is a prerequisite of the text.
Cheers.
The thanks goes to you for being patient with the video as my over caffeinated brain nearly tripped over its own feet as I tried to get my words out.
What an amazing experience this movie was. So This is what a religious experience is like. True highs and lows. Evil and beauty. Masculine and feminine. Switching from one archetype to the next. And the acting... God. I honestly think I would fear Austin Butler if I were to meet him. It was almost too good. The casual, sociopathic murder of such innocence. Wild. Denis Villeneuve may have worked his way up to my number one living director.
I wish the scenes with the water of life were more in depth. In the book they were a psychedelic right of passage. Also, yes. The mentats. Im actually surprised at the lack of these. Unlike the dinner scene in the first movie, which would have been hard to film, those would have made sense. Still tho. Its 2 and a half hours. And its 2 and a half AMAZING hours.
I cant wait to see it again!
Austin Butler is definitely the most hardcore sadistic villain to emerge in the world of big budget movies in quite some time. He absolutely nailed it. And I totally agree about the water of life. I wouldn't have minded some David Lynch style dream sequences as Paul struggles to emerge from his coma.
It was so epic. Like avengers endgame, mad max fury road, lord of the rings level of epic. 9 out of 10. Best scifi film i have seen in many many years.
Definitely deserves to be mentioned alongside those other classics. And speaking of Fury Road, I wonder how well Furiosa will compare when it comes out later this year?
Masterpiece!!! Fan First Screener!
It was definitely cool seeing it alongside a packed house of diehard fans.
I think if its done right (claudia in interview with the vampire) the 'old soul in a childs body' can be extremely compelling in a tragi-horror sort of way even in the medium of film. Its a shame they changed alia but still sounds like an amazing adaptation of Dune
Good call! Kirsten Dunst nailed it back in the day.
I love your plans within plans! LOL!
I might be suffering a small case of paranoia but I was willing to crawl over broken glass if that is what it took to see it last night. Luckily nothing so extreme was required of me, lol.
Just saw Dune pt 1 & Dune pt 2 double feature yesterday. Yup, it was a loong watch but it was immense!! Can't wait for Dune Messiah.
Seeing it on Friday on IMAX. Can't wait! Also feeling paranoid about theatre outage of some kind
Glad to hear I am not alone. I was freaking out right up until the movie finally started rolling.
hes doing dune messiah and thats it. denis has said it many many times, the trilogy ends with messiah
I wonder how Warner Bros will feel if this flick makes a billion dollars? I suspect very few execs at the studio have any clue where the story goes in subsequent books. They might greenlight the whole series which means Leto II would eventually be seen by the world at large.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock Denis has always said he feels for cinematic purposes, ending the story of Paul with Messiah works best. He has said that the books get too psychedelic for the big screen after Messiah and I see what he means. Its the same reason he chose to change Alia in the movie. Some things like Leto II’s live still suit might be too goofy for the big screen. If someone else can figure out how to do Children in the same style as Denis I’m all for it, but I’d be very skeptical. And Denis is adamant about ending the trilogy of Paul with Messiah. If he choses to incorporate aspects of Children of Dune into his Messiah movie, I would imagine it would be as visions. And I wonder if he’s going to leave Paul’s death ambiguous as in Messiah or make sure that for his trilogy he actually dies so that nobody else can come in and ruin his vision.
Spoiler
As a long time fan of the novel, I was actually really happy with Paul killing the Baron, had a more fitting end to me. I kind of wanted that ending in the book when I first read it. Well done Dennis 🙏 I've only just finished watching it so I'm still a bit shook
Slight spoilers
After the water of life part, I really did feel like Paul was a badass. Honestly, I was scared of him (which I think was the point). And his plan in the end works so well that it feels like nobody else stood a chance. My only issue with the movie is this: Before and After the water of life ritual, Paul is a completely different person. And I didn’t feel the film did a good enough job of explaining what made him flip. I’m not a book reader so I don’t know. I can only infer that this was the only way he saw to victory. But still it feels so polarizing compared to whole Paul was in the beginning, and he’s SO cold to Chani afterwords. Despite the promises he made to her, now it feels like he couldn’t care less about them. I felt we needed a much stronger explanation for Paul’s flip.
One of my complaints
I would have loved a deeper dive into the water of life sequence and what precisely is the narrow path that Paul foresees. I think you would absolutely love the novel as it gives all the granular detail any Dune fan could ever ask for.
The movie hinted he saw two different futures: one where everybody followed him and there was famine, other where he sees Chani dying in his arms sufferinc the effects of radiation.
I think he choose the first one trying to save Chani from pain.
Excellent movie I agree, but man... the fight scenes need a choreographer and proper action cuts. The fight between The Beast and Gurney, really need to be get uglier (since he killed his sister), there had to be some hatred in that fight, but there was nothing. Fight ended in two seconds, quick and on to the next one. No one defends The Baron at all, just walks up and kills him, done. The best fights were with Feyd on Geidi Prime. These are just my minor gripes though.
Totally legitimate gripes as well and I agree with on how the Beast and the Baron were dispatched. But as you said, the scenes on Giedi Prime were awe inspiring.
i love that the book is about telling the future.....when that first pre-paragraph in the book tells you the outcome of the book, thus telling you the future. Future is set, enjoy the ride
All roads lead to Leto II and his Golden Path, lol.
Just don't let Brian Herbert get to this. The property lost all of its mystique and grandeur when he ineloquently added where no additions were needed.
One of these days I'll read books 5 and 6 by Frank, but I have no interest in reading Brian's spin-off books. I've never heard anyone claim they are required reading.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock They definitely are not required reading. They confuse the canon and lack the depth and sophistication of the original six novels. More like fan-fiction than a worthy addition to the series.
Dude, "Heretics" and "Chapterhouse", are the best of the entire chronicles. MUCH greater character exposition, & focused on the Bene Gessirt. Miles Teg, anyone? @@geekinwithJamesHancock
Tryin really hard not to judge all the people who are saying these movies were boring and too slow... but DAMN, you must have the attention span of a fly. Social media and modern marvel movies that _never_ take a breath must've gotten to those people. I thought the pacing, thoughtfulness, depth, and complexity of these movies is a breath of fresh air in a world of gogogogogogogo movies and media.
Also, I really hope Denis does all the Dune books! I don't think the weirdness would keep people from loving them. Hell, they make a lot of horror movies these days with the _weirdest f*cking sh*t_ in them. Just disturbing, creepy, WEIRD stuff. I don't watch horror movies, but I've seen too many trailers of stuff like that. If the public can handle weird AF horror movies, they can handle weird AF sci fi.
Just saw it today. Haven't been so excited seeing a movie in theater for years. I had goosebumps several times. Fucking epic with arthouse sensibilities
as a fellow lover of the book ( had my copy since 1970-16 yrs old) i really appreciated your enthusiasm and love for my favorite book...i am truly happy that you enjoyed this movie....but his portrayal of the Bene Gesserit is unforgivable...jessica is alway anxious and scared...as for the Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, i have no words, except i pray for villeneuve to live out his life in a pain amplifier! imho, peter jackson was the only person to direct this movie...now in my short life span time, left.... this will never be...
Last movie I saw 4+ time in the theater was Fury Road. Hoping this is on that level!
That's a really tough call. Fury Road was such an extraordinary achievement and without any great source material to draw from. I'm not sure if I can identify which film I think is superior until I have seen Dune Part Two a few more times.
Agree that it is a visual spectacle and an impressive experience, but it nonetheless sidelines a lot of major features of the Dune world building. Paul doesn't even really come across as the messiah let alone a mentat/ Bene Gesserit and instead the narrative leans into the religious propaganda. Characters like the Baron get reduced to just being maniacal since there is little to no political. I do think though that the sound design was absolutely amazing, and the visual aesthetic is perfect.
Loved the review … intelligent and insightful. Now a fan … subbed!
Many thanks for the sub! I'll do my best to keep you coming back for more rants in the future!
Been waiting for this review, nice.
Thanks, Simon! I was very jealous of those people hitting the press screenings but in the end I'd rather watch the flick with my fellow Dune enthusiasts.
Keep the Rings of Power showrunners away from Dune lol
Keep the Rings of Power showrunners away from all film and television projects until the end of time.
The Spice must Flow
Cannot wait to see this I’m beyond excited for this
This looks like the massive epic the cinema needs now
Fingers crossed this flick generates a lot of repeat business. The movie biz desperately needs a win right now/ Maybe this can be the Oppenheimer of 2024.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock
Fans and fanatics (aka consumers) deserve a win! We're the ones paying the tab.
When moviemakers can consider their customer's interests, everyone wins!
Theres a reason Dune 2 is the only 3rd film Ive viewed at a theatre since 2018.
It’s odd; I used to detest the 84 film cause it was too weird for me. However, I felt like this iteration needed it & felt too sterile. Also I like the more “heroic” tones of Lynch’s film
Unbelievably incredible film.
Ohh man I love Alia in the book
Same. That change will always remain a major flaw in this movie for me, but the rest of the movie is pretty goddamn good.
There are only two natural stopping points for the saga: end of the first book, and end of the 4th book, The God Emperor. I'll be happy if he adapts Messiah but it will leave me wanting another trilogy for Children of Dune and God Emperor.
Saw it 3 times in theaters! Denis did justice to Dune like Jackson was to the lord of the rings trilogy
Wow do you think it’s better than blade runner 2049 ? Wow-high praise indeed . I not only considered that to be the directors best film but quite possibly my favorite American film of the 2010’s
It is better. Dune 1 and 2 as a singular feature will go down as one of the greatest achievements in the sci fi genre. An instant classic and a masterclass in filmmaking, character driven story and weighty action. 10/10
Yep both blade runner movies are in my top 5 favorite films so to hear this is better is high praise
For me, I prefer Dune: Part Two over Blade Runner 2049. There's a propulsive building momentum to this new movie that is really addictive as it unfolds.
My standard for judging whether or not I am watching a good movie is "do I forget I am sitting in the dark"?
Excellent system. Anytime you stop looking at the movie analytically and instead get completely sucked into the story emotionally, you know something really special is happening.
Denis Villeneuve is already working on the script for Messiah so at least the next film will be in safe hands.
Fingers crossed, but that is a very tough adaptation. It doesn't have the benefit of being a kick ass war movie, and I suspect a lot of fans will be irritated by the direction the story takes when it comes to Paul's character.
Besides the first two, Denis V says he has no wish to make any other of the books into movies because they are too esoteric. He says he will leave that to others.
I'd love to see the reaction on the Warner Bros executives faces when someone finally explains to them the plot of book 4.
There’s a commentary for “driller killer” by Abel Ferrara where every shot almost he goes “ahhh nice look at that shot that’s cinema baby”. Can’t tell u how many times I said that while watching this in imax lol
Thank you for your review, James.
The thanks goes to you for listening!
Guillermo Del Toro is the only director I trust to carry the torch
Good call! I'm a massive fan of his work as well.
Immense, overpowering and majestic. Villeneuve aimed for total greatness and achieved it. As a lifelong fan of the novels I am totally awed by this film.
It’s like Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones set in space, I absolutely loved it. One of the best films I’ve seen in a very long time. What an experience. His best movie by far and his magnum opus!
This may be too cheesy for some, but since Count Fenring was an older generation attempt at the Kwizatz Haderach that didn't pan out, I was secretly hoping that Count Fenring would be in this movie played by Kyle MacLachlan.
Masterpiece. Honestly, Dune part one and two together make one of the best films of the decade
100%. This flick is going to make so many big budget movies look pathetic by comparison.
This is going to be one of those Early in the year masterpieces where every time I see a new film this year I'm going to be like, "Yeah but, is it as good as Dune Part 2?"
Gonna see it as a double feature both parts 1 and 2.together here in Australia on Wednesday February 28 I can't wait to see it as a big adaptation of dune I can't wait.
@@geekinwithJamesHancock it is really amazing how much Denis has achieved for sci-fi cinema. The bar is now sky high.
I agree about the mentats. I've asked people who haven't read the books if they know what they are and what they can do after seeing part 1 and they can't.
Such a giant missed opportunity creatively. The full story of Thufir Hawat deserved to be told.
I have IMAX shows booked for this Saturday and Sunday. I assume that I'll be champing at the bit for another viewing right away!
Hell yeah. I like your style. I'm definitely ready for round 2.
I'm so Excited to see this on Thursday!!!🎬🙌🏿👏🏾👍🏼🕺🏽🕺🏽💚🐲🔥
Diehard fans are going to lose their minds. Hopefully the casual fans come along for the ride as well.
Arrival is his best in my humble opinion! I loved the 1st part of Dune, the new movie was effing awesome, the world of Giedi Prime or how you spell it was stunning, the parade they had for Feyd Rautha was a panoramic marvel though it was short!
Mentats and mentat training are completely superfluous for a movie. They really are stretching it with almost three hours, and you can't cram that in a movie. The don't contribute anything to the actual story (Paul's rise & fall). They add nuance, and a lot of interesting ideas but are not anywhere near essential. I get it, you've always wanted to be a mentat since you read the book, but they're not that important.
None of what you wrote is accurate in any way. I'd much prefer to be a wizard.
Here we go!
I had been chewing my nails over this for a long time but holy cow it delivered.
I'm one of those people who thinks Alia was done well. That is if you consider the incredibly hard problem of adapting Alia faithfully to the screen. I had heard Alia would only show up in the movie for 10 seconds so my expectations were very low. I think it's impossible to adapt her without copious amounts of expertly done CGI to modify an actress playing Alia. And even then I don't know if the end result would be good enough for this movie. So I get it. I was more disappointed with no mentats and with Jessica being excessively manipulative.
That was great, thank you. So happy for Denis.
Hopefully he'll rewarded for his efforts with the biggest hit of his career.
James, where is the Shogun review?! Cmon man!!!!
I loved the novel to the point where I'm dreading watching the show. I guess I'll have to pull off the bandaid and have a look.
I LOVED this movie, and share your criticisms…yes still LOVE it just as you do. I’ll probably see this 4+ times in the theater while I’m able to experience it that way
Agreed. The options at the theater have been so lean as of late, I'm eager to throw some repeat business this film's way. I doubt any movie for the rest of the year will be able to hold a candle to it.
Got my imax tickets for friday almost a month ago! Lol most anticipated movie of all time (wasnt old enough to see LOTR in theatres)
I'm old enough to have seen the LOTR trilogy in the theater and back then we had to get in line hours ahead of time. Fandango made life a helluva lot easier, lol.
@geekinwithJamesHancock Haha yes indeed!
Can't fucking wait to see it this wednesday. Been rewatching all of Denis films (from Incendies) so I got Blade Runner 2049 and Dune Part 1 ahead of me before I will let fear pass through me with Dune Part 2
Sounds like an ideal retrospective to get in the mood for Villenueve's latest. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
Better than Prisoners? That is a bold statement!
This movie really is one complete work, it really has everything the movie needs to have, this is not empty action but completely rounded story like Lord of the Rings for example, battles are great but there is a build up, intimate moments that take you to giant battles and all of it, i just loved this movie .
Austin gave me Bill Skarsgard in IT vibes. I full expected him to open his mouth and show a hundred teeth or something.
I just wish they'd age up Alia like in David Lynch's movie but not give her that goofy voice over. Just have a child actor talk like an adult and see how it goes.
But this is probably the safest way to do it.
The best ideas are often the simplest. I like your solution!
First review from you I've watched. I'm a 70 year old who has been a huge science fiction BOOK fan since the 1960s. I'm not a fan boy type and not into comics. You're obviously a Dune lover, and as such I'm a little surprised that you didn't mention the Sci Fi Channel series from 2000. Admittedly that wasn't great, but there were some scenes that were very good. But I did like the Children of Dune series from 2003, especially the performance of James McAvoy. Enjoyed this review, but I haven't seen the movie yet so I didn't watch the spoiler section.
