    Slight correction, the wheel is not made of carbon fiber but composite/plastic (with some carbon fiber for the finish look). Makes sense to keep the price down, just like they didn’t use carbon fiber for the paddles.

      @@joelriva5424 well looking at their website it’s clearly advertised differently, the word “composite” is not mentioned on the GS GT or FSR wheels for example.
      KS= Carbon Fiber Reinforced Composites
      GS GT= Forged Carbon Fiber Frame
      FSR= Toray Carbon Fiber
      I just wanted to highlight the difference in its construction.

    Handlebar tape from any road bike shop might solve the handling issues with the KS Steering Wheel. At least if there is enough room to add a few Millimeters on the inside of the wheel.
    Which should be the case, else gloves would not fit very well either.
    Seems like an easy 10€ fix and you get easily replaceable leather if you want. Might be a much better solution than gloves to be honest. Should work fine for F1 / GT style steering wheels because you don't let those slip through your hands all the time, so the road bike style leather tape should give you all the grip you want.

      @@lowproscrumbum What should I do until then? A PC is out of my budget for the foreseeable future. Console sim racing is what I have and what I can afford. I can’t just stop racing because it’s on a console and not a PC. I’m enjoying my time having fun and learning a lot by racing on my PlayStation. But would like to upgrade my wheelbase to a very good DD that I won’t need to change once I do make the big jump to PC sim racing.

      @@JuniorSwingman Yes you have the right idea make sure when you get a base it is also compatible with P.C and you will be stoked. Fanatec is your best bet if you have to buy for console as well. just don't get the GT bundle get the normal not GTsport branded DD with the universal hub and then you can use all kinds of rims with it. Also, I would focus on the P.C. first. The console can't even use a quarter of what the DD can do anyway it's a waste like putting Pzeros on a Civic. Any way you do decide to do it good luck and have fun.

      @@lowproscrumbum Which one is the normal Fanatec wheelbase that supports both PC and console?

    • @The_Levkir
      @The_Levkir Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@JuniorSwingman Fanatec console support usually depends on the wheel-bases. They are usually Xbox and PC compatible (Xbox comp chip is in the wheels itself) or you can buy a specifically licenced PS variant (PS comp chip is in the wheelbase), which will let you play on all systems depending on the wheel you use it with. Compatibility is always listed on their website. I do not think you can buy a non-DD wheelbase directly from Fanatec anymore; if you want a non-DD, I think second-hand is your only option. CSL Elite and CSW 2.5 are probably your best bets if you want a belt-driven wheel from Fanatec; just check the console compatibility before purchasing because it may vary (e.g. the CSL Elite had a variant which was compatible with Xbox and PC only and also a variant which was compatible with PS, PC). If you want a cheap DD for console you have to go Fanatec. I do not think there are any other DD wheels from other manufacturers with native console support. Here you have 2 options again, depending on the console of your choice: for Xbox, buy the CSL DD with an Xbox-compatible wheel (eg. the McLaren V2). For PS, buy the GT DD, here the wheel itself does not matter (also if you want to spend a lot, you can go for a Podium DD1 PlayStation edition, but I personally would not do that unless you are certain that you will buy a PC too in the foreseeable future). Side-notes: all Fanatec wheels are PS compatible with the right wheel-base, so in the future, you can purchase any in the Fanatec eco-system, and it will work. Also, all wheelbases are PC compatible too, so if you decide to switch to PC in the future, you will be set. Hope this helps.

    • @Traumglanz
      @Traumglanz Před 11 měsíci +6

      Fanatec just lowered their prices for the DD entry wheel bundles down to 399€. I don't think that they are ignoring the competition. You get now a CLS DD with CLS Pedals and a CLS Load-Cell Break for 540€, do some wiring magic and it's doing 8NM for 540€ + shipping, 20% Vat included.
      Doesn't make the Moza R12, R9 or R5 bad, etc
      But certainly both companies seem to have notice that they are in pretty fierce competition to each other.
      Meanwhile Thrustmaster charges 400€ for a T300 GT and don't get me even started on the price tag on Logitechs DD-Wheels. ;-)

    • @vvs6433
      @vvs6433 Před 11 měsíci

    • @NamePend
      @NamePend Před 11 měsíci +2

      @Traumglanz of course they know but it's the fact that we still have no qr2 and moza has a better and more reliable quick release. The price drops makes it look like a way to get rid of extra units and not as a way to answer to the competition. If I remember they dropped their price before moza.

    • @Traumglanz
      @Traumglanz Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@NamePend IIRC, Moza dropped them first, but Fanatec responded with giant price drops in comparison. So yeah, clearing stock might be the reason for the low price, which would suggest that they either fear some new 5NM wheels coming out that destroy the DD 5NM and Moza R5 or have something in the pipeline themselves for the old price bracket.
      Either way, it's a win for us. Getting a good DD wheel never had been as cheap and the competition is great.
      Besides that, the quick release on the Moza really is something else, love that, one of the big reasons why I really would like to upgrade to the R12. Alas there are a lot of other things that come first for me. ;-)
