- This is a delightful encounter involving two of the greatest all-time profiles in bluegrass music, Jimmy Martin and Tony Rice. It’s filled with mutual respect, love and the omnipresent Martinesque Rambunctiousness. Jimmy’s massive output of verbiage reached a new high at this festival...

Smiling from ear to ear listening and although tony rests with our hevenly father with Jimmy martin up there too i love this mix of early grass and tonys sublime picking its just mega!!!!
There's a reason this has no dislikes.
Jimmy pushed the Grand Ole Opry more than anyone on it. But the powers that be who were in charge of the Opry, wouldn't let him be a member or nothing. Dang shame.
The hell with the grand ole Opry!
From what I can see, you had to be A suck ass to get there and Jimmy dam sure wouldn't A suck ass.
seriously?, he got drunk and went backstage at the Opry and verbally assaulted Ricky Skaggs and then proceeded to call out others including Bill Anderson threatening to "knock his ass off". That was the last time he was allowed anywhere near there.
@@dabneyoffermein595 Ricky Skaggs is an a-@&le. Him and Bill are probably both overdue for an a- whoopin. Jimmy Martin was a real a person as ever was. Not perfect. I guarantee he would sing on the bed of a pickup truck in a parking lot if people showed up there to hear him. He didn’t care if it pissed Bill Monroe off or not because he was true to himself and had love for bluegrass music. Ricky worried about hurting peoples feelings if he sang with him. Really? Jimmy Martin? The King of Bluegrass asks you to sing on a song with him and you can’t cause it might hurt somebody? Jimmy was top notch and while not perfect (neither are they) absolutely deserves to be in the Opry. It’s political BS and if you ask me cheapens it’s value but not allowing him in.
@@chadbelcher6208 Love Jimmy Martin, but wasn't it Martin that said disparaging things about Ricky when he got drunk and went backstage of the Opry? Yea, and he dissed Bill Anderson that day too. But I don't care , maybe Ricky had already refused to play with him by that drunken episode. Jimmy just knew how to hit people's hot buttons, but he is the King of Bluegrass and they can't take that away from him.
@@dabneyoffermein595 indeed
this is top shelf!! damn, i miss these guys!!
I love it!
Sure wish bluegrass was still that good. King Jimmy Martin, the greatest of all time. Tony Rice was top notch too
Hey Jan, this festival was always the 3rd weekend in July, don't remember the exact date. Thanks for the cool memory, I was in the front row to watch the King of Bluegrass
Thank you, Buddy...Don’t know where I got the October info from...
What an entertainer!
Wow.
Now here's a channel I love! Glad I stumbled onto it!
Glad you enjoyed it..,
@@JanJohanssonmusic I've been enjoying your channel very much! Thanks Jan!👍
Pure bluegrass excellence
Tom Adams on banjo maybe? He was with Jimmy for a short time in the mid 80s
It is Tom Adams… Charlie Cline on fiddle
I would lose. My. Mind. If i got to see Tony, Jimmy, and Tom play together. That is a ridiculous trio 😹😹
