Fallout 4: What happens if you're banished from the Institute before speaking to Dr Li?
Vložit

- So, you've spent years infiltrating the most secretive organisation in Boston, yet somehow managed to get banished within five minutes because of an axe incident. Don't worry, it happens to the best of us. Let's see what happens.
I enjoyed this one.
Professor Scara becomes the replacement. - Hry
So you deliberately sabotaged the most crucial mission for the brotherhood at this moment, refused to say why you did it and came back with nothing but a "sorry" and a suspiciously bloody axe.
Well knight Im very disappointed in you.
However you wont be kicked out of the brotherhood or even demoted or reprimanded in any way besides me telling how you have been very naughty, in fact lets keep you working as the most important operative on the liberty prime project.
Now go get us a scientist with the same qualifications as the last one you were supposed to get but this one is VASTLY easier to locate, persuade and hire to the brotherhood and isn't an traitor so she can actually be trusted. Oh we also knew of her all along but for some reason still went with dr Li despite our project being extremely urgent.
Anyway go get em knight!

Caesar: Yeah, I know you've got out of your way to dismantle my entire empire, putting my plans for the Mojave in complete ruin, but I forgive you. How's about you join my army?
Crocker: Yeah sure, you're a known Legion asset. You've blow up our train, assassinated many high-ranking military leaders, crippled our army *and* killed hundreds of our citizens, but we forgive you. Here's a pardon, go ask the Boomers to help us please?
House is the only one to actually fire you if you blow up his robots.
@@CyberController- Yes Man is the only one that always welcomes you.
@@CyberController- too be fair, Caesar was very desperate and the Courier was the only way for him to get rid of House.
It is less that Caesar is dumb. Caesar just didn’t have a better play besides just hope that the Courier didn’t betray him.
Subverted the intended plot? Dont worry, we can railroad you back into the main story whether you want to or not
So like how you can secure the independence of a Mojave that's population is made up of you and a dozen children because the nice AI has an infinite supply of working robocops to inhabit.
@@akramirez ...what?
@@goldeneyekiller101 You can kill everyone in New Vegas and you can still beat the game because Yes Man will always respawn and you don't need to actually do anything for a Yes Man playthrough.

Hi there.
There can only be one
It´s fascinating how this game manages to say different things in different ways, just so the conversation doesn't change course at all.
- yes
- yes with an accent
- no but actually yes
- [leaves]
Etc., etc.
Its not really that fascinating when the prequel. Fallout 3. New vegas also practice the same thing. But i am impress with the voice protagonist saying all of those dialogue.
@@lordhoboofsavior36 That is not true at all in regards to NV, and you know it. Low intelligence, terrifying presence. Gay/straight unique dialogue. Skill related dialogue, perk related dialogue, faction related dialogue. All allowing to bypass or do different actions when conversing with someone. Because NV is what was once known as an RPG.
These are just perks not including stat related, faction and others. That's hours of content. It is not an Xbox choice wheel.

@@jamieenoshima5147 dude, you realize you gatekeeping rpg right? Because if you do, you're an arse.
End of story.
Also, I never talk about perk/special check dialogue. I'm talking about the basic dialogue where the game gave several dialogue but the reaction is 100% the same.
And now that I think about it, even those non-skill check dialogue receive similar reaction but they diff so i wont count them.
Yeah I did this exact thing and found it extremely weird that the Brotherhood didn't simply start with trying to recruit Scarra first. Dr. Li has proven to be a turncoat and from the Brotherhood's perspective, has been working for the greatest evil to beset mankind since pre-war nukes.
And could easily be a spy. Only agreeing to join the Brotherhood to sabotage Liberty Prime, if not their entire operation in the Commonwealth
Li is still more qualified, and it'd make sense for the brotherhood to want to take her away from the institute as an asset and get her back into the brotherhood.
@@CryptP yes but she already proved she can't be trusted. With how important liberty prime is, trust in your scientists is vital.
She never betrayed the Brotherhood, just walked away. Though, when dealing with the cult like mentality of the BoS, that could be seen as the same thing.
@@christopherconard2831 walked away and joined their enemy. That's betrayal in the eyes of most.
Main Character after slaughtering father: Hi there! :-D
ShaunBot: ZZzzzZzz
"Your "Father" is gone now. Whatcha gonna do now? :D"
"It's classified..."

I was thinking the exact same thing -_-
So they trade out one no-nonsense, bossy scientist for... another no-nonsense bossy scientist. Great writing.
look forward to more of it in future games as the guy that wrote the story for fo 4 is now in charge of all games going forward. he likes the kiss method of writing, keep it simple stupid.

Who knew General Atomics Galleria would be a site for a Main Quest mission?
I would've expected the factory to be honest... oh wait Automatron... nonetheless at least the Galleria has a purpose.
I just can't stop laughing from the design of your character 🤣🤣🤣
Why the fuck isn’t this the first option? This is way more interesting. Dr. Li’s involvement in the story isn’t even *good* fan-service. She’s just... there. No reference to Fallout 3 or the Lone Wanderer, James, or even any character development on her part.
Presumably so the Brotherhood has a reason to help you build a teleporter.
they say she goes to the commonwealth in 3~ in broken steel her colleagues mention she headed north for boston
Li was the one who got Prime working. If given the chance, of course they'd go for her over some wastelander.
The whole liberty prime story is shitty fanservice, just like how they fill the wasteland with nuka cola brands and pipboy references. 4 is oversaturated with iconic imagery of previous games rather than providing anything of actual substance
I have been playing this game since 2015, almost every day and i had no fckin idea..
How, this game is so boring
@@bromosome8049 maybe for you,why are you even here if its "boring"

"WAIT, IS THIS A NE- nope, nope been here before." Mods are cool, but the best are on PC, and lord knows whenever I'll get myself one of those lol.
Scara: I hate you, hate your organisation and deeply distrust your motives and intentions for my home.
Survivor: Yeah but Big Robot.
Scara: The same Big Robot you used to exterminate the most technologically advanced remnant of pre-war society and subjugate an entire region? Count me in!
And the sole surviver has 1 charisma and a dream.
with a face like that it's a wonder he isn't banned from all factions
Too bad we couldn’t recruit Li and Scara. Scara would love learning from Li.
Lost the chance to secure one of the smartest weapons/technology expert on the entire east coast? Don't worry! Theres a elementary school biology teacher with the exact qualifications to arm and prime a pre-war death machine.
"Brotherhood soldiers take responsibility for their actions and move on"
the sole survivor 16 seconds ago:
"What's done is done" = Moving on.
"Apologies Elder" = taking the blame/responsibility.
Would’ve been cool if you could’ve recruited Mel from the Big Dig quest, since he knows a lot an robotics
Or even yourself if you have the robotics expert perk 😳
How come entering the Institute for the first time is the only time the player has body animations while in a dialogue wheel? …What, because it’s their son? It’s not even the real Shaun they’re talking to, it’s a synth child.
The sole survivor didn’t know that Shaun was a synth and also that’s not the only time the player has body animations
Yeah that's what makes for an engaging story, the character knowing everything and never being fooled by something, great fucking logic. "Jeez why is he making such a big deal it's just a robot that looks like his son that he has no way to distinguish"
Because up until you meet father your character believes the synth is really shuan and has no way to tell the difference.
Pack your things. You're working for the Brotherhood of Steel now. - Am I?
XD
“Step this way and I will get you all set up” The last words of tenpin
"Oh yeah, let's all beat up on the robot!" Lol
In my first play though I blew Father's head off with a shotgun as soon as I saw him. It was just my reaction to someone opening that door. Didn't realize he was my son at the time.
That's good
Never hesitate and enjoy it
I have more hours than I care to admit in Fallout 4 but I’ve never seen this! Thanks for sharing
wtf why have i never known this
Probably because you never killed Father when you met him, you didn´t do it while working for the Brotherhood, or never killed everyone in the Institute before you met them.
@@alejandroyava or if they did they savescumed
Bruh, I actually did this on my first play through. I pulled out my .44 explosive revolver and blew his head of. Didn’t even give it a second thought. I went back to the brotherhood because I basically said “screw you maxson, I’m going to get my son back at any cost”
*hmmmm*
Always enlightening to see videos from the Brotherhood perspective, as I have never completed a playthrough with them as my "chosen faction."
“Hi there!” He says to the child after brutally bludgeoning a man to death with a battle axe in front of him.
"Oh yeah, let's all beat up on the robot!"
Underrated. Also, it took me wayyy too long to find this comment 😢
I like how they basically walk around in iron man suits for their daily activities
Well Ingram has no legs so it's sort of a necessity for her.
What if you ended up killing Scara?
She's essential. She can't be killed

i did this by accident in my first playthrough of the game.
Thought the thumbnail was actually an NPC I've never seen. Well done.
Good start now just keep running and we'll call it even
I didn't even know Dr Li was a person till Elder chewed me out for shooting up the Institute 😂
oh yes. Lets all just beat up on the robot
I thought Dr. Li was smug, arrogant, and uncooperative, but this woman makes her look like a doormat.
Doctor Scara sort of like Major Garrett.
This exact same thing happened in 3 where your dad finds out you nuked megaton and all he says is "Im dissapointed on you, anyway"
Can't blame people for having a visceral reaction when some dude pops out and turns off what you think is your son. Narratively it's a little funky, but for game design, it's perfect. Dad did also leave the PC to certain death because his little escape sent the vault into a panic, he doesn't have the right to say anything.
quick moment of silence for doctor duff
He doesn’t look like his father
Yes, I wonder that as well, and I definitely didn't stab father immediately because I didn't believe it was really Shaun and accidentally disappointed the brotherhood in the process
I had no idea about this alternative path.
Wait, wouldn't it make more sense for the Brotherhood to recruit Scara first then
Recruit Dr. Li if Scara dies or can't figure it out.
Or
Assassinate Dr. Li because she knows information regarding Liberty Prime.
I wasn’t siding with the Brotherhood because I don’t much care for them, but on my very first playthrough of FO4, I had already decided ”fuck the institute and fuck this ”Father” dude, whoever he thinks he is.
Then, after talking to the kid, I shot Father immediately on sight (had an explosive .44 too) and was so confused when the pip boy said Father was Shaun after he was dead. I had no idea why he was an old man, how he became the leader of the Institute, who the little kid Shaun was and so on. I decided what’s done is done and proceeded with my playthrough anyway, taking responsibility over my actions. I could always just replay the game (I actually found FO4 quite replayable) and actually listen to him.
I was a bit dissapointed when Bethesda had not taken my intentions of just killing Father on sight into account.
Yeah yeah this is all railroaded and what not. But can we talk about that NOSE!
damn this is cool n stuff and all that, but can your character's big schnooze suck up all of the bullets shot at him?
This is exactly what I did when I finally found Shaun. Just murdered the father . Now I have to build this Liberty Prime and fight the institute?
your character looks great
Maxon talks to you like a disappointed father for failing the most important mission they'll probably ever have in Boston.
Killing “father” immediately is exactly what I did in the game.
*first playthrough*
The moment Sean powered down and I knew he was a synth, there is no reasoning with me.
“Let me explain…”
Father’s last words
I fought my way out of the institute saying out loud “you’re not taking my revenge quest away!”
murders father also him: HI THERE
Literally my first playthrough:
Speedrun Shaun's death, upset Maxon, recruit the lesbian who's dating Miss Frizzle, and find out her first name is fucking Professor?
Sign me up.
Look at that schnauzer
The one dislike is from the institute
Sole Survivor: "Pack your things, get out of my building."
Scara: "Excuse m-"
Sole Survivor: "YOU'RE FIRED!!!" 3:50
My first play through my game bugged and all the Institute doors were locked for no reason so that time I was forced to kill father and make a run for it, forcing the fight the Institute progression, that is until I got softlocked again
3:09 wow, they had the chance to make a character that was completely unique and a polar opposite of Madison Li to make things more interesting for a different style of playthrough, and they just make her act exactly the same with that same snarky attitude that Dr Li has.
Why does the thumbnail look like a horribly disfigured reverend from red dead?
So what happens if you kill Scara? Does she have plot armor? Can you recruit the Mechanist?
Scara has plot armour
@@DayZeroGaming Sigh. Dammit Todd.
That's definitely not shaun's father. I mean shaun doesn't have his nose...
I think it would have been interesting where if you mess up, you have to use your own wits to fix the problem. Like you know, that robot expert guy from the big dig or something? rather than just maxon knowing where to find someone else.
I did this but sided with the minuteman finding out the shawn in the cage wasnt actually my son at the end of the game was the biggest plot twist.
Poor Virgil.

Soooo…. You’re told to inflitrate the institute and try to regain the help of a traitor when we could’ve just gone to find a scientist who isn’t a traitor and can actually be trusted…? Ok Bethesda
Funnily enough I did this my first run
The Vault Dweller sounds like Jon Hamm (which makes sense; Hamm is most known for playing a shady alpha in the 60s). Elder Maxson looks like Oscar Isaac. Ingram gives off Tig Notaro vibes (or perhaps there's some other more perfect casting choice). Was this intentional? Was there a live action show planned? I've been noticing a lot of that sort of thing these days.
