24:30 Well. There is no indication that Wallace has spent his entire life in this one building like some kind of introvert scavenger. He's in his what early forties? He could very well have a scientific background but when he noticed the Institute began approaching him he fled to the homestead and tried to protect himself.
The reason his lab is so sparse is because it's not his main base of operation. The Tesla Arc could just have been him building traps when he heard the Institute arriving which is when he locked himself behind the door.

This quest put a pit in my stomach the first time I played this. I sided with the Institute out of honor of family; that was my son, and no matter what, I'd support him. But the only reason I got to the Institute was because of the Minuteman. All that time spent rescuing settlements, bringing the world back from the edge, all the companions who helped me with those quests. The Minutemen were my family. The conclusion of that quest will always stick with me... :(

The RR let us out after hacking the Institute (we where let out remotely, you can find terminals in the Institute talking about an unauthorized outside access, and a RR member was watching us when we leave the vault). The real Shaun was killed after their DNA was harvested, and Father is gaslighting us so we help him.

I have an alterative explanation for the Minutemen saying that Wallace was "hold up in an Observatory" despite just being inside an intact House, maybe he WORKS at an Observatory he found, but he lives at a normal house. An Observatory might be very big, and hard to defend and keep safe for one guy, so he takes trips there in the day, studies, and comes home at night.

The General is very similar to the Harbringer of the Companions in Skyrim. You're not a ruler like in the BoS, but a leader. You are the example to the other members of the Minutemen involving honor. Your title is only kept based on the respect the Minutemen have for you.

    • @roykennedy
      @roykennedy Před rokem +29

While I agree it's stupid, to give them some credit, he is right this isn't a military its a militia, these men and women aren't enlisted and they likely don't get any formal pay or incentive, these are just people who leave their farms and families to go protect someone else when called. I mean that's the whole reason the flare gun doesn't work when you are far away from a settlement, there aren't any settlers to come running, hell the guy himself said they saw a flare, they weren't ordered by a superior, they weren't given a plan, they just saw someone send out a signal and came running.
(also I know it's an apocalypse but shooting a man for insubordination is a bit much, especially when they are trying to save someone from the Institute)

think of it from his perspective. The Institute are objectively evil, they kidnap, extort and murder.
They seen a flair and they did their duty (vuliuntarily may I add). To come save this man who asked for help, than your "general" is with the bad guys telling you to back off and let the guy who ASKED FOR HELP to be left alone with the Institute (the objectively evil people).
Like nah son, this dude asked for help, we see the bad guys and you're saying it's all G, when we've seen the flair asking for help, so clearly it's not all okay. But yeah there's one thing i do like about this quest is that it does show that a charismatic SS can work with even the more paranoid and hurt people of the commonwealth. No quarrels with anyone but the institute, who are obviously not for the "common good" like they would claim and even then, if they surrendered, that would probably be acceptable. Though that would never occur from the institute, you could probably peel away some fringe members like Madison Li, but the ones who grew up there are core followers and would never surrender their life's work to "savages"

Well it makes sense that the quest has no impact on the Minutemen. The Minutemen are the "Yes Man" option from New Vegas basically. The Failsafe if you somehow manage to cock it up with every single faction out there otherwise. Which is distinctly possible. I mean you can just mow down the railroad, Father, and the Brotherhood when you first see them and sever those quest lines.
I find it actually kind of odd (but it does make sense storyline wise) that the only way you can really get booted out (temporarily) from the Minutemen (as Garvey is one of like... 20 essential NPCs in the whole game?) is joining the Nuka-World Raiders as their overboss.
I mean makes sense considering his whole thing is to be Anti-Raider as it were. But still odd when you think about what role the Minutemen are supposed to have in the game. Like you can just Shotgun Father in the face to kill him the moment you first meet him, before you even talk to him quite easily. And you're done with the railroad and have to fight your way out past a lot of angry Synths back to the teleporter.
You can shotgun Danse and Maxson in the face when you first meet them, similar situation.
It's the easiest of the fights to take down Desdamonda at the Railroad meet because only Glory has a weapon and armor worth a damn, but you definitely can.

I think the Institute would gain more popularity if they used their synths to actually clean up all the muck and rubble around boston and start to repair the buildings, Roads, bridges and such and more or less make boston almost like its pre-war self.
This is why i think the minutemen need their own DLC to make them be on par with the BoS,Gunners,Institute etc, their artillery is awesome, seeing as it can be used entirely across the map within reason, but their main infantry/patrols just aren't geared up properly to tackle what the commonwealth throws at them, i'd really love to see them wearing their own version of combat armour and wearing backpacks with bedrolls on them and such, or maybe using their own power armour setup , like how the raiders and BoS have their own versions of power armour, it'd be cool to see Minutemen maybe use the T-51 power armour?

Great work "Ox". Completely enjoying this series, you are creating. I did one playthrough in support of the institute. I found it very awkward and disturbing, from the overall existence of the commonwealth being at peace under the Institute faction. My selfish reason for that was to have a Commonwealth without a crater emitting radiation throughout the CIT region.
Bethesda could have benefited much more, as we all would have, had they stuck with such intensity towards detail and formidable lore in their ideology while creating this game. The time I offered anticipating Fallout 4 was well worth it, as I (in proof to enjoying your perspective in contribution, along with other content creators you are familiar with), have logged (equally to millions of others) thousands of hours and multiple playthroughs of this game.
I know that I am not alone in thought that Bethesda could offer a "do-over" (Not a re-boot of new ideas and art), by adding in and on the shelved, discarded, sealed content that allowed for a much quicker release of Fallout 4. I definitely (like yourself Ox), do NOT need my mom's permission to invest in such potential, and also have the time to enjoy, such a potential.
Nonetheless, I appreciate the content which you offer and share. It is a sort of DLC benefit for us Fallout lore, and Fallout 4 fans. I am still browes-ering which of your (Haberdasheries) "Merch" I would like to purchase. Thanks for sharing.

Because of the Institute willingness for violent intervention against the Minutemen. Showing the institute will turn t the tyranny of technocratic oligarchy and the innocent citizens of the commonwealth will have no true rights.
    And
When Maxson orders us to kill Paladin Danse.
Showing the absolute level of no mercy, knowing innocent non feral ghouls and friendly mutants like Hancock and Strong.
And danse is a friend you've fought killed and nearly died with and superior officer a brother in arms. And ordered to kill him.
    Minutemen allies with the Railroad.
Being friendly and non combative as long as possible with the Brotherhood and Institute.

Cait is a drug addict who uses to numb the pain, when you cure her does she grow and want to help others? No she remains selfish but just doesn't like drugs, wouldn't call that character development. Nick has the most character development and backstory. The other companions aren't bad, they just feel very bland compared. Yes Deacon is a mystery but there isn't much else to him. I feel like they started with Nick, knowing that he was going to be involved with a DLC, moved onto Piper knowing the SS would come across her in game (they do point you directly towards most of the companions through quests) and then made the rest just serviceable enough to pass as characters.
