Yeah... same here! Love the kitty, and never had a WiiU, so for me, DKC:TF is a new game...and I love it!! :-D I'm in the UK, and for me it was roughly £10 less expensive than most new release cartridge games - DK was only £40... so not exactly 'budget' price, but still better than most... just as the game is!! (better than most) :-D

I dont regret buying it again for full price. I am actually playing it in Funky mode and while it is easier than the classic mode it remains challenging. Playing with Funky actually gives you a little breather time to enjoy everything that is going around in the background. On the plus side, I get to play it on the go and it looks gorgeous on handheld mode.

You do know that there is already a hard mode in the game where you can only play with one heart?... If that’s what you’re wanting, you already had it in the Wii U version
I bought Tropical Freeze on Wii U when it dropped to $20. I ended up selling it for some reason, so I decided to pre-order it on Switch. Pre ordering games on Amazon makes them $47 instead of $60, so I feel like the price was well justified. Even for the full $60, it's such a good game that it's worth it. I'm a few worlds in already and I'm enjoying it a ton. If you're on the edge about buying it for full price, go ahead and do it, especially if you haven't played it yet. It's one of the best 2D platformers hands down.

I'm LOVING Tropical Freeze. It's my first chance to play it and it's completely worth the 60 bucks... Unless I throw my Switch out the window due to how frustrating it can be. It's that old school platforming challenge, but I'm having a ball.

Try the owl boss alone on hard mode.. then go from there.
I was thinking of buying this game and was looking at some reviews and stumbled onto this one. At the end of it, I left with a really nice review and a random banana shortage fact from Australia which was like an added bonus.

I have a Wii-U, but I never bought Donkey Kong: tropical freeze. Idk why I did not buy it, but I was never playing on my Wii-U anyways. I will buy the game on the switch now.

Only the soundtrack of this game is better than the entire New Mario Bros U game.
Playing this on the switch was my first experience with the game, I’ve never really had a chance to play a Country game before because I’m only 17. But I absolutely love this game so far I’m having so much fun, the level design and the music are so fun, I just wish it was a bit longer so there was more of it to enjoy

I think it should have been 40-50 because it is literally 20 DOLLARS on the Wii U right now. Tripling the price is a bit ridiculous.

The game already has a hard mode where you can play as any character with 1 heart. (Unlocked after getting 100% in either funky or original mode). This is why I highly recommend playing in funky mode as you have more options and if you beat hard mode you dont miss out on any of the challenge.
This was a fun review. I loved the Banana Shortage anecdote, also I don't regret buying it at full price. It is way too good.

One thing worth mentioning is both the Wii U version and the Switch version actually feature a Harder mode where you can play as any of the characters with only one heart (I don't know if this includes funky in the switch version, but it should still include any of the normal kong buddies). You just have to unlock it by finishing every level in the game first.

I haven't had a Nintendo system since the NES, so all these ports are new to me. I'm happy they are bringing over so many. I got this game on Amazon for $48 on preorder which was extra nice.

Just an FYI, there is a hard mode in the game where you do only have 1 heart. You may only have 1 character on the screen at all times, so no barrels that give you a companion, the trade off is that you may play as any of the characters in full. So Cranky, Diddy, and Dixie are playable characters

Totally agree, particularly in the case of people who have it already, you got it already, you’re not desperate to buy it while the hype is up, if you want it for collecting purposes you can just buy it when it’s cheap or find it on eBay.
I’m super excited to buy it and I’ve never played it before but even I’m happy to wait for prices to drop to £35/£40

I got so frustrated with the first run. I had such a difficult time beating the final stage that one my second play through playing as Funky is just so fun to see how fast I can get through a level.

This is a game I am very excited to check out in the future! As I never owned Tropical Freeze on Wii U, I think it’ll be worth the 60 dollars, but I can see why some people feel it should be cheaper.
I dont have the money to spend on this right now. Im saving for Yoshi and Smash. And some college stuff. But i will probably pick it up next year if i dont have any games on my list.
Its possible Yoshi is pushed back into 2019 though, since we haven't heard anything about it yet (We don't even have a title). So i would wait until E3 too decide.

Ive always been a nintendo fan, but never a serious one so the switch is the first time ive really jumped on board and played all these games. My first kirby game and my first yoshi game. I wish kirby had a little more to it. So if it takes them a little longer to make yoshi better than that, then im down.
This really should of been released as a double pack with DK country returns, 60 bucks for a re release even to this day is crazy.
It's a now $49 now, well where I live. And I'm still dying to play this game. I will this Christmas, all the wait will be worth it.
If you're willing to put some time into the endeavor, 100%ing the game in Funky Mode unlocks Hard Mode, which knocks Funky Kong down to just one hit point instead of five. Having to make it all the way through some of these levels without taking a hit is definitely taxing, but I find it's the perfect balance to how OP Funky is. It makes the experience difficult enough to be satisfying while also allowing you to enjoy just how damn _fun_ Funky is to play as.

I'm gonna be quite honest. Im not buying it because I had it for the Wii u and I payed only 20 dollars when it was in the Nintendo select library of games. So Im kinda of pissed off, precisely for the price point. Still ... good game and good vid Wood!

Weirdest thing this past weekend: i go into Gamestop to buy some accessories and then see an SNES Classic behind the counter. I bought it and played some classic DKC. I bought Tropical Freeze the day before and the comparison with the two and how far this series has come is incredible.
I’m only on World 3 with DKC Tropical Freeze, but Oh. My. Lord. The level design on World 2 is the best i’ve seen in a platformer. Hands down! I got it 20% off due to prime discount and i think it was worth it. It’s challenging to try and collect puzzle pieces, but i just try to collect KONG letters in each level. Really good game so far!
I bought it. Didn't have a WiiU. Having a lot of fun. Worth it to me. Not interested in Funky Kong mode.

I bought it on the Wii U when it first came out, and then by the time it came out on the switch, I forgot a lot of the levels, so it was practically a new game to me. Funky kong is also really fun to play as
Here in Melbourne, Australia 🇦🇺 a friend passed on to me a few old XBOX 360 games he no longer wanted in a clean up he had, about 7-8 titles maybe. Went to E.B. Games to trade them since high membership and also promo with extra trade %. They have a thing where can trade 2 games and just pay $29. Managed to use just 2 of the old games (GTA4 & Driver, would have got $7 for each) and the rest paid the $29, plus had some change Togo towards another game. So I was happy with what I “paid” for it.

DK port also has way better graphics, has faster loading times, little extra things added on to the game, good for people who have a small switch collection, people who couldn't finish the game, and the game is really good at bringing people together (point of the switch) and on top of that you can get a level in quickly on lunch breaks, and last but not least it is a really good portable game! #I luv your channel keep going and nice review!
I bought DK two weeks ago. First DK I've played since DKC3. It's AMAZING. It alongside Octopath Traveler has made me love my Switch again, after 7 months of it collecting dust.
Never played this on Wii U. Getting it for my daughter for the switch for Xmas. Can’t wait to try it out

I usually try to avoid paying $60 for any game in general. In a few months, it’ll be on sale or I can find a used copy for a decent price. $30 to $40 is usually the sweet spot for how much I’ll pay for a game unless it’s something I really want.
The banana thing about Australia is so true, I remember my parents wanting to buy bananas but they held off. Took a solid 2 years before that recovered.
To be fair even though funky is easy mode,You can play as him in *hard mode* where you have only one heart.So that can be a challenging experience for those who want to use funky with a higher difficulty. I’m glad because he’s very flexible in terms of replaybability, he can be good for speedruns or just playing the game on a hard difficulty.
Will you be reviewing Yonder the cloud catcher chronicles on the switch when it releases? I'm kinda on the fence about it right now.

The thing that disappointed me most about the price point (despite owning it on Wii U first) was the lack of inclusion of DKC Returns. That would have made it a no brainer to me. I did pick it up again on Switch mainly for the faster loading times and can't say it wasn't worth it, but I'm disappointed not to have access to a proper version of DKC Returns (original had motion controls and 3DS had bad frame rate).
i'm waiting for a sale to get it...but at the same time i love that it is being released so i can live with the 20 dollar mark up

Hold the stem and open the banana from the other end. Works perfect almost every time. The stem it suppose to be used has a handle. Also I'm getting tropical freeze for the 2nd time. $60 isn't much for a video game to being with in my opinion.
Luckily, and sadly, I never played DKTF on the Wii U, so I picked it up first day for Switch and have been loving it.
This is why you peel bananas from the other end, you never end up breaking or smushing it.

I’ve never played this game before until I got it for the switch. I could say it is worth paying 65 dollars for including tax in most states(I live in CA). Each level designs are almost perfectly created and I actually feel like I’m playing different levels after beating them one by one. Boss fights are cleverly designed as well and memorable. The background feels alive to me and the colors are vibrant yet not painful for the eyes after hours of gameplay. This game is very challenging. Don’t buy it if you lack the patience. 8.5/10
