    I'm not a golfer, can barely shoot in the driving range. But if there's 1 thing I learned by watching Tiger Woods get a lot of bogeys and leave the green smiling, is that "even professionals don't hit perfect shots all the time." Thanks for the video, very inspiring. You're doing a great job with your channel, keep it up!

    Where were you when _I_ was a 15 year old golfer? Ohright. Not born yet. But seriously, one thing I learned from playing a few times with an LPGA futures tour player (and college golf coach) - her pre-shot routine was immaculate and super-consistent. I haven't got mine to that level, but it was enlightening to me - and this video proved a good reminder.

  • @ahastar1141
    @ahastar1141 Před 4 lety +2

    The hardest thing for me to realize as a golfer when I was trying to improve was that my brain had more tools than my body could execute. Meaning I would think of the best possible shot to hit, instead of the best possible shot I was capable of given the situation. Learning what you feel good about executing and choosing among those shots is important, and focusing on the factors that affect what you can control are important. But also making sure a "safe shot" doesn't put you into a situation where you dont have the ability to execute the next shot.
    Like punching out to a side hill lie in the fairway when you dont know how to hit that shot makes know sense. It may be better to chip to a flat lie in the rough instead if thats a more comfortable shot. A comfortable shot for you may be complete different than your friends and thats cool. Gotta play the best shots for your game. That was one of the biggest lessons I learned.

    Gen you're right on, I Coached High School golf in Southern California over 15 years. I would of loved to get him as a Freshman . I agree pre-shot routine, course management and a few small things. His swings alright. He has no clue how or where to aim, his swing is a 80's player! His natural swing is a draw, he needs to Tee off on most holes from the Left side of Tee box to open up the fairway. His miss is to the right, partially because of his swing path, mostly because he doesn't know how to aim! Short game, he needs to learn the Rule of 12, and use it chipping, great for a analytical player. He's a good putter, rolls the ball nice, however he never aims, he needs to put a line on the ball and use it, will help him huge. Using the line on the ball will help him with his aim off the Tee. He has potential, I love he said he plays for Fun. Another nice video. P.S. we have a Storm off our southern shore Named Genevieve getting ready to send us some weather. Thanks again

    • @GenevieveLingGolf
      @GenevieveLingGolf  Před 4 lety +1

      I am in SoCal too Mike, pretty much playing golf full time around Corona, Temecula and San Diego as there is nothing to do with Covid haha. You are dead on with his aim, but I also did notice he doesn't remain stable in his swing which makes me think he needs to balance and plant his feet and work on finishing swing position. Some swings he is leaning back slightly. But he's 14, with more guidance and practice he will be very good.

    You're such a good coach on the course based on this video. You're so confident with knowledge of the game which allows Julius to trust you, and your chill vibe allows him work within his own abilities. So encouraging to see this, and speaking from experience, the mental game is a huge step in not only shooting better scores, but for having more fun! I've taken to evaluating my rounds more by how I "felt" I played versus how I actually scored. It's helped bring a more positive momentum to subsequent rounds. Thanks for sharing this process!

Needless to say Julius and my friend Jason who is 6' 7" golf games are nearly identical😊 Jason can't turn his huge brain off long enough to hit the dang ball! He plays with a seemingly new Driver every time we play and some mizuno muscle back irons 2 iron - 60* LW, because he loves the brilliant engineering that went into making them. Never mind the fact that those clubs are way too advanced for him. Nevertheless, we have known each other since the 3rd grade and I love him like a brother. Took a while but realised by wearing Varifocal Glasses my focus on the Ball was changing with any slight movement of my head. I changed to wearing Single Vision Glasses and it pretty much cured the problem and started to hit a lot more shots off the centre of my Clubs, and at the time I was playing Forged Blades. I managed to get as low as a 1 Handicap and often hit sub Par rounds

He'll gain more confidence from the Reds, be hitting mid-irons in, and once he regularily breaks 100 then switch to the whites. Ego adds strokes~ He's obviously still growing into his body, so in a few years (likely two) his game should improve nicely!

    Rare look into the mental game, thanks for sharing. I had to stop watching a lot of content because it’s too mechanical, thank you for focusing on actually playing golf instead of golf swing

    He's a tall lad. Are his club sizes appropriate for his side?

    You are right in that you never want to work on a students mechanics on the course. Save that for Range time.As for his mechanics, I cant help but wonder why he has such a shut clubface at the top of his backswing-- obviously causing major hooks off the tee. Does he have a strong grip?.Or is the club closed at address position?....Or a takeaway that is grooved on the wrong path.?..Dunno as we never got to see a head on swing..His swing motion is general, is pretty good .. 1.Once you get him in a better at the top backswing clubface position- AND as long as you can get him to tee off with a 3 wood instead of (taylor made Utility club)..He WILL break 85, not a problem..

    Gr8 content.
    It's "short sided" when you have little green to work with. Not "short sighted" which is Mr McGoo ... who can't see very far. :-)

    My unqualified eyes says his club is way too closed at the top.

      Yes, it's definitely shut but that's a swing technique thing that he will have to work on with a swing coach! 😊
