- A look at the continuing adaptation of the MT-LB by both Ukraine and Russia. In this video we take a look at half a dozen interesting adaptation currently in use. The ubiquitous MT-LB, while lightly armoured, continues to offer one of the best available platforms adaptation.

Of course since making this video even more adaptations have appeared... Anyway thanks for watching, check out the accompanying blog here - armourersbench.com/2023/10/29/more-russian-ukrainian-mt-lb-adaptations/
This idea just popped into my head. Lithuania donated around 40 Bofors guns to Ukraine awhile back. If the Ukrainians could mount them onto MTLB's then they could be useful for direct fire support, as a mobile 40mm auto cannon would be deadly.
I have seen some of those in action. The system I saw was on the back of a truck on a 360 degree hydraulic mount. They are doing the same with 100mm naval guns and using them as basically a younger brother to the 2S22.
Problem, mother of recoil. Need recoil jacks.
Wouldn't be too different from the 57mm S-60, so I can totally see that working.
They have CV-90 IFVs with automatic 40mm Bofors cannons
-NATO: you can't put AMRAAM missiles on a MIG-29
-MTLB: hold my vodka
MTLB is the Toyota Hilux of tracked vehicles.
Well you joke about it but USA is donating a shit ton of AIM-9M to Ukraine because Ukraine is building a launch module for them on the back of something like the avenger but better because obviously the sidewinder has much better range than the stinger.
I doubt the Russians mounted the 25mm naval gun turret as much as just plopping the entire tower onto the hull roof of the MTLB chassis... Hence the atrocious wobbling.
Seems it doesn't it. Thank for watching.
Waiting to see one with a t34 turret.
or armata xD
MTLB"Look at me I'm modular now comrade"
M113, "Son listen, I've been turned into everything on this here land."
I've been to forests, deserts, jungles, and swamp land, I've been everywhere man got sold to everywhere man, I've been everywhere.
I've been turned into an ambulance, mine layer, motor carrier, ammo carrier, mobile gun, and a hot rod.
I've been turned into everything man, I'm a box with tracks man, I've been everywhere man, I've been everywhere.
Basically Russian alternative to a Toyota pickup truck.
With worse dispersion, somehow.
Mount everything on MTLB, they still are my favourite
I’ve always had a soft spot for the MT-LB and MT-LBu, ever since I played M1 Tank Platoon
Ohhh ...M1 Tank Platoon what an golden era of war gaming. Never thought that game would ever play out.. But now were close.
@@JimCoupeTQ I’m now on the verge of getting my Atari ST out my parents loft and booting it up !
I've worked with some awkward systems before, mostly hiluxs and cannibalized mech systems, tractor trailers. They work. Just need to have a decent production team producing systems that work for the environment.
I can see the MTLB working with the right weapons on top.
MT LB is a great System as a Modular armoured vehicle
This vehicle is blessed by the Spirit of Dakka
3:03 I hope that’s training footage, because that position looks super exposed to artillery spotters or ATGM teams.
How being drop by a grenade lobbing drone.
@@aker1993
That would be vulnerable anywhere, but this particular location is exposed to lots of direct fire.
Definitely a training position
Love seeing these new mash-up vehicles covered in detail. Keep it up!
Thanks!
@@TheArmourersBench You're welcome!
MT-LB (Much Traversable -Long Boi)
Nice Video. I really like how versatile the MT-LB is. I hope some of those modified vehicles make it to the end of this war and into the future Ukrainian Tank museum
I saw the MT-LB S8 that I played in Armored Warfare
Yes, especially if he managed to reach the enemy team’s concentration alive, he simply sowed panic and hell, turning light vehicles into a pile of rubble and damaging all the modules of the MBTs.
MTLB the new Toyota technical?
Haha, that naval gun adaption looks to have the spread of a spraycan...
Do you have a video about S-60 indirect fire? Its an interesting improvisation. Or just unconventional indirect fire in general. S-60, tanks, APS's, 80mm rockets from aircraft. Also, AGS seems pretty common.
Is there any evidence of Ukraine using similar adaptations with their M113s? Like the MT-LB, the M113 has been used as a carrier platform for various heavy weapons such as recoilless rifles and anti-aircraft guns. For example, some Middle Eastern countries such as Egypt and Lebanon have mounted ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft autocannons on their M113s.
Nothing more than M2s so far!
there is a video of the YPR-765 PRI
Ukraine should mount the Stugna-p and an autocannon like the Bofors 40mm. That could be a potent platform.
I love seeing old or naval/AA weapons being reused as anti infantry or anti material
There is just so much potential in them, specially considering the huge stockpiles of ammunition.
The US used to mount Vulcan cannon on the m113 in the 1970s. Wonder if these can be donated to Ukrainians as anti drone platforms.
wow
Is this the Soviet version of the Stryker? I know nothing about Soviet vehicles
The MTLB? No, it's more of an old artillery tractor, come all-purpose vehicle now.
M113. It is literally a box on a track.
1:20 I don't get it. Surely a T62 would be better for direct fire? rather than rig this Frankenstein's monster up?
MT-LBs are cheap and plentiful so they’re probably dumping some of them on the newly formed motor field units as ersatz IFVs.
@@cm275 I get what you're saying but I'm sure so are T62s which require no mods and at about as useful at direct fire.
Known as the "shitbox" in the game Project Reality. :)
MTLB - The Most Based Ultimate Shitpost Machine.
Russian versions of technicals?

...they're the world's 3rd most powerful military don't ya know 🤣😂😅
And russian troll monkey bots telling t14 armatas are ready for the war. But they put some oversized retired guns on random old chaseys :D
So you're saying that they should instead use the new rare prototype stuff first and reserve the old garbage for last?
