    Great review. I picked up this same humidor about a month ago and have been pretty happy with it. Watched some of your other videos and saw how you had yours set up, and pretty much did the same. I have about 275 sticks in mine and did see a small variation in temp and humidity from top to bottom. I added the fan a couple of days ago, and it really did make a huge difference in air flow, and as a result evened out the temps and humidity within a degree and percentage point across all drawers. Keep up the good work.

    Another great video! I think I've mentioned previously that I've totally copied your front glass Boveda mounting technique :) As you mention it's a good option to help with air flow when you've got all drawers. Also, glad you reminded me about condensation, I'm going to pull all my drawers out and check after I finish this post. ..... WRT the heating vs cooling unit, I 100% recommend going for the heating + cooling vs the cooling only. I originally started with the cooling only model, and ended up returning it. The issue is regardless of what you have the cooling only unit set to, it will not allow the temperature to higher than 2-4 degrees F _below_ the external ambient temperature. For example, If you set it at 70 and your house is 75, it's not an issue, it will hold 70. However, if your house is at 65, and the unit is set at 70, it will actively cool them to 2-4 degrees below 65, and so forth. I contacted NeedOne and they claimed it was by design and pointed me to some 'small print' plainly describing the effect. My theory is the cooling unit is identical to the heating + cooling unit _except_ without the heating element. I would bet even the firmware is identical, and that it just doesn't know that the heating unit isn't connected, and is still including it in its PID loop. (the 2-4 degree drop would make sense in this case) .... Unsurprisingly none of the NeedOne sponsored channels mention this rather important detail in their reviews, so it's a bit of a bellwether as to which reviewers are actually as unbiased as they claim to be :).

      Yep! That’s the purpose of the drain plug actually. Shoulda mentioned this in the video but what happens is condensation builds up in the fan and it’ll drip straight down to the drain hole. If it’s dry on the back panel under the fan you’re likely good 👍

  • @MrPault55
    @MrPault55 Před 3 měsíci +1

    The whole in the back is like a P-TRap add a small amount of distilled water to whole and it will seal the air flow.

      The drain plug has its use if condensation builds up and water starts dripping from the fan. But with Boveda and using it indoors there’s no need for it. Appreciate you bro 💯

    Hey boss, great content. I had a question. I just got the Needone 23L heating and cooling humidor and I'm currently trying to season it but I keep having issues with condensation developing on the heatsink. My house is currently set 70-71 and the humidor is set at 68. Do you have any recommendations?

    • @sigmanado
      @sigmanado  Před 6 měsíci

      Pour some baking soda in a small bowl, put it in the empty humidor (without any shelves) and let it run for a couple days. That should get rid of most or all of the smell. This is what I did and it helped, but what really got rid of the smell was letting the aroma from the shelves and cigars take over.

    I get it blocking up the drain hole to not let the humidity escape from the humidor. I did this on a wine fridge I converted into a humidor, it was cooling only. I blocked the drain hole on that and the problem I had was condensation would drip down the back during cooling and pool in the bottom and my humidor was always over humidified. Does condensation pool at the bottom of your since you plugged the drain hole and if so how do you manage the excess condensation?

    • @SuperBass1964
      @SuperBass1964 Před 19 dny

      Plugging the drain does create condensation and water pooling at the bottom. I tried it and in just 8 hours there was water collecting at the bottom of my unit. Plugging the drain is NOT the answer.
