    This is my sister's car, a 2008 Fiat 500 1.4 Sport. She has owned this car for 14 since she bought it new in 2008. Before it's time for her to replace the 500 with something larger and more EV, I grabbed the keys and made a little review.
    Sadly, no cost of ownership calculation is possible since my sister did not keep the records and the dealership lost all records before 2018...

    Sound problems galore in this video. I tried to make the best of what I had. What do you think of my dubbing on the intro and outro sections outside? First time I've ever had to do that. 🤷‍♂️

    Great post Swiss Car Guy. Bought my wife a new Fiat 500 Hybrid recently, I just loved driving it so much I've bought myself a 2014 500C and its a total joy....

    I drive an Alfa Romeo Giulia but I when I had it in for service I got a hybrid 500 as a loaner. It didn't even have a turbo. Amazing how much fun you can have in this little car. You really don't have to baby it. You can really hammer the trottle & feel like you're driving fast, yet you're only driving like 50. Manual shifter feels great too.

    Great video!This generation of Fiat small cars was such a jump in luxury compared to the older Cinquecento/600/Panda... but not without cost, something was lost. Used to drive those old cars, it was a hard job and it felt like driving a bycicle: the tyres were narrow, the steering was super direct, eager to get back to the center. Accelerations were nice(1st and 2nd gear only) from one to another traffic light it could easily outran every big fat BMW/Merc/Audi... Trying the new Panda/500: it actually became a car. All the special(driving) quirks that Fiat was known for were lost, to become just another car. On the outside, it is a beautiful. Also it is driveable by anyone. Just take a look at the rental car companies: could you imagine the boxy Panda or the 600 as a rental? Looking at Fiats current product lineup, its all the same, no brave moves. (What i wrote excludes the Abarth version of the 500) Happy new year!

      Holy Moses that's some mileage, well done . Great to hear she's still going strong. I'm at 150,000 on my 2015 500 Sport. Good to hear it's possible to get to double that mileage and still roll strong 💪.

    I personally couldn't get over the cheap plastic dashboard of this car, always felt like I was in a kids 12 volt toy car.
    The dubbing was quite good I was questioning myself if the audio was a little weird or you were dubbed and couldn't decide lol.

    Subscribed, because its a great channel, and just in case you have your sister on camera as a guest.
    Seriously, I'm thinking of getting a small sensible, cheap car and the Fiat appeals. It looks lovely inside. How is the steering feel..If any..? Most modern cars have awful dead steering.
    PS. The dealer 'losing' service data is appalling. That is the dealer potentially losing substantial value.

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Před rokem +1

      I am the worst person to judge steering feel. All the cars I drive have almost none. It's certainly more than my Lexus, but it's old electric power steering, so don't expect any revelations.

      I removed this waffle from my thank you reply so you didn't feel forced to read it.. You don't have to go any further..Its a shame the Italians are going the same route as everyone else and removing the chassis from the driver with what feels like a shield of foam rubber. What happened to their reputation as hot blooded drivers cars? Fiat, you should be ashamed.
      I guess not many modern vehicles will come direct from the factory with revelations of any type fitted as standard . Just extra weight and removal from the driving experience.
      Try and get someone to give you a go in an old Mini or to remember what the Italians once gave us, a Lancia or an Alfa...
      I'd love to see anyone trying a Mini for the first time. (I've had three).

    Telling the story like it is - my sister is "loaded" but does not wash the car or keep the interior tidy - must be a bit painful for Swiss Car Guy? 🤣. Can you do a video on the omnipresent Swiss traffic police, cameras, silly speed limits, etc., which make driving in Switzerland much less attractive than in more "relaxed" countries? Thanks!

    • @swisscarguy
      @swisscarguy  Před 2 lety +2
