The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.

The Wizards years video always gaves me the question. What if MJ return to the Bulls. If I remember, they had Ron Artest, Tyson Chandler, Jalen Rose, Brad Miller, even Eddy Curry. I think they can be a title contender. What are your thoughts about this? I know Shaq was this time the juggernut.

Mj 10+ point scoring streak was over 1000 games if you combine the playoffs. Playoff games are games as well, so we should specifically say 800 regular season games or use the total games (season + playoffs)

@@heftycat Technically one season, although he was so close again in 63 it's hard not to give it to him and he still holds the career triple double record by a healthy margin. IIRC he was also the first player average double digit assists.
The guy is an absolute legend but I really don't like direct comparisons between this era. I'm not arguing for or against him here, just that neither performance should take away from the other. If we're focusing on triple doubles, of course Russell Westbrook needs to be mentioned but his blocks are nothing more than statistical noise.
@JJFX- stern, but fair. Lol. I agree, and I'll take it a step further, having ranked lists is a hard thing to validate too, not every conference and division are always strong...so numbers can be deflated or increased with strength of schedules and the like.

With the exception of the brain dead Lebron superfans, everyone universally realizes that. Like nobody has tried to "expose" MJ 🤣 The Lebron deal is that he's had cover for so long... all the love from the media from the day he came to the NBA. Jordan wasn't propped up as the protected his entire career like Lebron. Jordan won as soon as they got a couple of functional pieces. They didn't shop the NBA looking for all stars to create a team for him. Lebron didn't win anything until he got to put together super teams. And with all of the super teams and 20 years of crying.... he has not won as many titles as everyone expected... with any of the teams. Said he was going to get 6 rings w/Miami? Jordan's first 3 years...only good player on his team was Charles Oakley. He missed most of his second year. Drafted Pippen... took a couple years to develop. After that... it didn't matter who they had. He never asked to get "talent" to come save him. He didn't cry and throw his team under the bus like LeBum. Jordan carried the team... team sometimes hated him because he drove them... demanded greatness. Lebron and MJ are two different cats... no comparison. Lebron is not a top 5 all time.... enough with the comparisons to Jordan. Should be talking about Kobe, Magic, Bird, etc vs MJ. Lebron needs to get past guys like Harden and Barkley and Nash 😂😂

Pippen got better around 89/90, and helped the Bulls, not MJ. Also, Pippen wasn't the only difference. The whole line-up changed, but MJ was carrying the Bulls since day one. I'm glad you compared Pippen's 1998 injury to Wade's 2014 injury. I bring that up to people and they try to ignore it. Plus MJ played against the Jazz again while LeBron played against the Spurs again. Both players won the year before against those teams---so there's no excuse for 2014's loss even with the Wade injury.
@@jtremaine23 That Jazz team had a similar core as 2013 Spurs. They had a great PF in Malone just like Duncan, a great PG in Stockton just like Parker and a good SG in Hornacek just like Ginobili. Malone was still of MVP caliber during those finals while Duncan declined a lot in 2013. Stockton an all time top 5 PG while Parker ain't top 10. Hornacek and Ginobili were kinda even. So overall that Jazz team was slightly better than 13/14 Spurs. Jordan beat Jazz convincingly twice while Lebron almost fell 0-2 against aging Duncan had it not been Allen's miracle 3. That right there tells Lebron ain't at Jordan lvl.
And unlike LeBron, Jordan's name was never tied to "Vibranium" supplements

When you see how the top 50 & the top 75 NBA players reacted around MJ & the stories they tell about MJ just walking into the room, we know he's the greatest of all the greats. Even they're in awe just seeing the man in real life.

As a fan of the Sonics, I feared him too. Even long before the championship era, back in the '80s, when the Bulls were miles from championship contention, when they came to town I feared them kinda the same way I feared the Celtics or Lakers whenever they came to town. Because I knew on any given night, Jordan could just go off and could make the Bulls just as formidable as those elite teams. He couldn't carry the Bulls to a title by himself back in those days but he was perfectly capable of carrying them for a night. The 63 point game against the Celtics in '86 was a prime example of that. He didn't win that night but he damn near took down one of the greatest teams in NBA history with 5 HOFers and pushed them to the absolute limit.
FACTS!!! What he lost by 3 or 4 points? And that Boston team should of won by 20 plus!

I'm still a Sonics fan as well, really not a fan of today's defense but I still want our team back.
I got to see MJ live twice in Seattle at the Key Arena during the 95-96 season, regular season then game 4 of the finals. I really don't remember much about either game but I'm so grateful that I was there.
I saw that man play in person! The 7 game package I bought that season was solely based on seeing MJ. An I got to, was also able to buy my seats for the playoffs but I wound up selling most of them because I couldn't afford to go to all of them. I saw them beat the Rockets in one game, game 7 against the Jazz an then game 4 of the finals. I remember the Jazz game the most, it was huge.
There was something really cool they did that game that I haven't been able to find on CZcams.
During the timeout between the 3rd an 4th quarters they (the Sonics) had some Army Ranger guys from Fort Lewis here in Western Washington repel from the ceiling in full battle gear, rifles, helmets, camo, the works. When they got to the floor they all got down on one knee an made a protective circle around the Sonics while in their timeout.
The crowd, myself included, were making so much noise an cheering so loud. It was just a gimmick but it was really cool to see, wish I could watch it again......
During the whole game everyone in the building would count while Karl Malone was at the free throw line, "1, 2, 3, 4' etc etc because Malone took so long at the line. The rule stated you have ten seconds after the ref passes you the ball an I guess people felt he was taking too long.
On his last two free throws of the game the score was so close an the crowd so amped that we didn't count on those. We just made noise, as loud of a crowd as I've ever heard. An he bricked both free throws an Seattle went to the finals.
I wanted them to win the finals but knew MJ would be too much going in.
A great time in Seattle sports, 95-96 were great years.
I was also going to Mariners games back then. I went to game 6 against the Cleveland Indians an the Mariners lost an we're eliminated. No one left, we all stayed an cheered even though the season was over. But it was a magical year an the first time Seattle had ever made the MLB playoffs as the Mariners.
About 15 minutes after the game had ended the players came back on to the field an just walked around tipping their caps and or waving or whatever. I was a monkey see monkey do guy that night, everyone stayed an cheered so I did too.
But it was cool to see, the appreciation the fans had for that team was cool an something I won't forget as long as I'm alive.
We don't get many great moments as Seattle sports team fans an it seems odd I'm talking about things that didn't end with a championship. But that's being a Seattle fan😂 We gotta take what we get.
I hope I see the Mariners make a World Series before I die, that's up towards the top of my wish list. I've been a fan of that team since day 1 of their existence.
I got to go to a championship parade because of the Seahawks, had wanted to do that since I saw the parade in NYC after Reggie Jackson's Yankees won back in 1976 or 77. Whenever it was, I was a little kid an watched Reggie get those 3hr in that one game then watched the parade on TV a few days later.
Finally got to do that at least.

Jordan got snubbed in 86-87 out of a defensive 1st team selection and a dpoy vote. In 86-87 was his first season putting up 200 stls(2.9) and 100 blks(1.5).He led the league in scoring averaging 37.1ppg which knocked him since he was only considered a scorer at that time.
Yeah, I also notice that people don't seem to focus on what he did defensively that year. He was like "ok, I'll have to lead the league in steals the next year and block more shots than some starting centers/power forwards". After that, people paid attention to that side of his game going forward.
Averaging 37 in any era is crazy but the physicality of the 80s. MJs wasn't reliant on 3s ..primarily scoring with mid range jumpers and driving to the basket in heavy traffic...he would've easily averaged over 40 in any that post 2000s era

Jordan was feared because he was just relentless on both ends of the court. Even if he had an off night (offensively or defensively), he would never let up on his opponents or his teammates. He demanded excellence - in effort and/or execution so even if you executed poorly, if the effort was there, you knew your head was in the right place. This is why the Bulls rarely lost consecutive games and won 6 championships in the 90s.
Keep in mind that Jordan retired TWICE during that decade as well!!!

Anything MJ I’m tuned. MJ was really scary! 6’6” dark-skintone, baldhead, RED JERSEY 👁️, greatest skills, outsmarted everybody, studied predatory animals! He was really the perfect encapsulated basketball player and WINNER. LeBron was never feared like MJ, most players didn’t even respect him for a long time. The stories are out there when players talk about how bad they wanted to go at Bron. And many players from Jordans era confess how they didn’t wanna make the GOAT mad 😂😉

Mann...I love it. I love how he pulled up a lot of the times where someone said something negative about MJ and it didn't turn out too well for them. I've NEVER seen an athlete turn it on like that pretty much every time. It was almost like a movie script.

1:37:50 That play by Pippen is so underrated in regards to effort and defensive intensity as there ever will be. As a defender, Scottie Pippen in his prime was probably one of the best Defenders at his position of all time. Honestly, the same can be said for Jordan as well (at his position).

When someone hits a "game winner" against all odds we are in awe. Jordan was such a beast during this time we were shocked when he missed a "game winner".
The use of that gym class video is a master stroke. That part of the video, about American fitness was extremely well done.

Never thought I'll watch a CZcams video that is almost 2 hours long all the way through but I did, thank you. Also Im not a Lakers fan per se but I was definitely a Kobe fan. I can never choose Wilt, Kareem or Russell as the goat over MJ solely because of what I've witnessed MJ do in the league in the 80s and 90s. There was so much fire in MJ that's 2nd to none. The intensity he had is also 2nd to none. He established himself as the best player in the league during the Celtics and Lakers dynasty runs. Witnessing him retiring for the 1st time really made me sad and made me watch the NBA a lot less. I was a LeBron fan up until he self proclaimed to be the greatest player of all time. That was just appalling for me. I mean I really watched him religiously like I did with MJ. I was never going to choose him over MJ as the goat to begin with just simply because he never had that killer instinct. He's actually disappointed me countless times when I wanted to see him take close big games into his own hands but chooses to pass instead. I just never saw the goat quality in his character ever! There's a reason why MJ is used as a measuring stick for greatness. LeBron simply doesn't measure up period!

I never thought it tarnished his legacy. I watched the vast majority of the games. We got to see a perfect jump shot 2 more years, he had to get back in shape, he got to lead by example with his inhuman work ethic and what he could achieve as a man in his late 30s after a long stint off. His youth and explosiveness was just a compliment to the perfect part.

With a few rare exceptions, Lebron is a big game bricklayer when the pressure is on... it's always the other guys on the team making the big play to win the game. Ray Allen... DWade. The media frenzy just covered for him for the last decade. He had a couple good runs (cake walk through the east with Dwade being the real MVP) but the rest of his career the media has him wearing this fake crown and now they have to die on that hill because they are too invested in the fraud at this point.
LeBron haters criticize LeBron no matter what he does, Bronsexuals don’t accept any criticism of Bron even if it’s valid, it’s the real ones who can give him his props and due criticism.

That was the fun thing about the Jordan years...any time, anytime, Jordan had had a bad game or someone showed him up, said something in the paper, basketball fans knew to not miss his next game or next meeting with that specific player/team because you knew he was going to go off. Vernon Maxwell talked about not being able to sleep every night before he had to play Jordan just based not wanting to get embarrassed.
Thank you for showing Kemp & Payton, those two were really good together an I'm grateful I got to see them live so much. Broke my heart when Kemp left. They were never the same again.

I am not a Jordan fan, but I give him his due as one of the greatest. It is about my biggest peeve, when critics of great players use the, "They played against plumbers and taxi drivers" type of analogy. That is as ignorant statement as can be made, of any era, but especially the 80s and early 90s.

Jordan was not dominant in only one aspect of the game. It's not worth trying to break one aspect of his game down because it's criminal that it may misrepresent the bigger picture of how good this guy was. He specialised in all aspects of the game. He had the most complete game I have ever seen to this day, making him the greatest player I have ever seen play.
Then he has his game off the court. You know, the shoes! Do we really need to go down this road to settle this argument forever as to who really is the greatest ?

To those who say Lebron has to “do so much on offense” he cannot play hard defense it’s nonsense. If you play hard defense you energize your team and demoralize your opponent.
MJ actually played so hard on offense and defense that he won MVP and defensive player of the year while winning scoring title and averaged 3.6 steals and over one block per game as a guard.
MJ managed 9 first team all defense in his 13 years with the bulls and didn’t qualify in the year where he broke his foot (which nlt 18 games played) and in his first comeback year of 1995 (17 games played only).
First team all defense in 9 of his 11 eligible years while leading league in scoring 10 of those years (lone exception was rookie season).
Lebron just sticking around to shoot from 24 feet from the basket and not even playing defense except for an occasional effort. This is not an amazing feat when you spend $1 million dollars per year to hide your steroid use

Idk if anyone can understand just how impossible it is to take 2 years off, focus on another sport, excell in that 2nd sport to the point of more than likely being called up to the majors (if not for a strike season) and then going back to the highest level of your 1st sport, and it takes a mere 6 months to get your legs back and 3-peat.... again!!
If I hadn't witnessed it myself, I'd say that someone was just telling tall tales to appoint someone as the GOAT!! BUT it was all too real. Just ask the Knicks, Jazz, Pacers, Sir Charles or anyone else that played in those 6 seasons.....

I think any way you splice it Jordan is the greatest NBA player we’ve seen so far. Actually, I know that. So these players wouldn’t change that fact BUT it would definitely alter much of NBA history…
I'm not sure they would have gotten Reggie Lewis in the draft to pair with Len Bias but if so, that matchup against MJ/Pippen would have been great. It was great watching Petrovic play though...that dude was like a machine---he never stopped.

As Far as the 45 MJ couple of years he played after his main career.... I'm sure MJ had a few more DOTS to check off his list I know he was the most competitive and always tried for the exclamation point no matter what and still would do at 60 given the chance. Thanks for compiling this. :) I'm not done watching yet, but when I consider the percentages of time that MJ was double or even triple-teamed throughout his career, to me that really hammers home just how good MJ really was. Not to mention that it seems whenever another team played the Bulls, they knew they had to be at their very best just to keep from getting embarrassed by MJ. I think it pays not to overlook these areas when discussing the GOAT.
