    The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
    My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
    I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

      2015, 2020 and 2002 are the only finals that should have asterisks. 2015 the cavilers should of won that. the 2020 finals shouldn't of even existed. last year's finals should of been the 2020 finals instead. the 2002 finals should of went to a game 7. the nets getting swept by a team who was rigged to be there, seems fishy.

    a major part of the chris paul trade veto is that the nba was desperate to find an owner for the small market hornets team. vetoing the cp3 likely helped to convince tom benson to purchase the organization in the subsequent summer.

    • @newthrash1221
      @newthrash1221 Před 5 měsíci +8

    • @drkdze
      @drkdze Před 5 měsíci +5

      That's definitely what it was about. The league wouldn't have been able to sell the team if they ransacked it! Plus the Lakers were trying to get CP3 for a bag of peanuts and not give anything of value to the Hornets so they cancelled the deal! But the Lakers conspiracy theorist will tell you they did it to stop Kobe from winning. SMH

    • @jimsangreal7663
      @jimsangreal7663 Před 4 měsíci +1

      Don't forget the contracts the Hornets were taking on. If I recall correctly, people were upset because the Hornets were not only giving up the best player, they were also taking on much more salary and some of those contracts were only for one year, meaning the Hornets could have walked away with far less than what it looked like on paper if those players didn't resign. Even if Gasol and Odom stuck around New Orleans (a big if), the trade gave the Lakers cap space and pretty much ruined the Hornets' cap space.

      This was one of the worst potential trades, and the league knew that it would decimate the value of the Hornets as well as give the Lakers the chance to run the gauntlet for the next five years and probably stack three or four championships, which would’ve discouraged all of the small market teams at that time who were trying to break through.

    To sum up the video, David Stern was a terrible Commissioner since all of this controversy happened under his watch. Him rigging in favor of the Lakers in the early 2000s, his paranoia after the malice in the palace, his fear of the small market teams boycotting the NBA with just a single trade really cost a lot of history-changing events that would've affected legacies of many all-time greats. Imagine if the Kobe-Shaq duo didn't three-peated, Cwebb a champion and squash his negative post-season stigma, Nash being a champion after a controversial b2b MVPs, Kobe being a part of a modern superteam with a possibility of facing the Miami superteam led by one of his rivals, LeBron.

      What people don't realize is players are products of their environment. Players had to work full time jobs in the offseason to make up for the league's shit pay. I'm sure they would've loved to have dedicated everything to basketball, but they had bills to pay and families to feed.
      Not only that, but the rules were extremely strict. You had to dribble with your palm on top of the ball or the refs would call it a carry every time. Pretty much every modern dribble move would be a carry back then. Travelling was just as strict.There was no restricted area, so offensive fouls could be called right under the rim.
      Players had literally 0 freedom on offense back then compared to today. They did the best they could with the bullshit they were handed, and it's unfair to disrespect them for circumstances out of their control.
      What people need to understand is that JJ, as well as any player, would've had to adhere to the same strict rules in West's era. He would've had to sacrifice time for training to get a summer job to survive because the league didn't pay players enough.
      More than that JJ's impact would be minimal in era where every shot was worth the same. Without his 3's, what did he really do? He wasn't a defender, a rebounder, a dribbler, or a passer.
      He wasn't even the best shooter in his generation. That'd be Ray Allen. Not even the shooting role player either. That'd go to Kyle Korver.
      It's the dudes like Jerry West who had to threaten strikes and fight the league for every dollar they deserved so that the ones like Magic and Bird could make a real living off the league, dedicate themselves to the games and push it to new levels.
      They had to endure and sacrifice so that clowns like JJ could sit there and run their fucking mouth without a damn clue about the history of the sport they get paid to talk about.
      In fact, that's the whole issue with NBA culture. Too many ignorant fools who think they know everything when they barely know anything.

    Appreciate you putting the 07 Suns. In my lifetime that was by far the best and funnest Suns team I've witnessed. It was the only year I watched nearly every single game with my Dad. Suns offense was such a high tempo they would fast break and score so quick before it was the norm. I personally didn't feel our defense had improved.. The solution to lousy defense was more offense. Off the top of my head at least at the time the Suns and Mavericks both went on long winning streaks during the regular season, the Suns got snapped right before 20 games and the Mavericks ended up breaking the record pretty sure 26 games. Not only did the suspensions take place for Stoudemire and Diaw, but during the series it was clear as day which side the refs were favoring. I can still remember a play clear as day where Nash went up for a layup on a fast break only to get absolutely pummeled (basically tackled) and they didn't even call a foul.

    I think the bigger asterisk during the "bubble bowl" has to do with the fact that Dragic and Adebayo both got injured in game 1. Dragic had been killer in those playoffs and was averaging like 20 ppg. Missing him for the series and Adebayo being out then coming back injured really killed the momentum the Heat had going into the series. It felt like their chances of winning pretty much tanked after that first game. In a way it was reminiscent of Lebron in 2015 losing his point guard and leading Big-man against the Warriors. Butler did his best to carry the team but ultimately did not have the help he needed. Without those injuries it would have been a different series.
    It's kind of funny that Lebron got beaten by the warriors on an injury-riddled team but then came back to win against a Heat team similarly hampered by injuries. Both in 6-game series too. I guess it's all even in a what-goes-around-comes-around kind of way. Still, if you mention the injuries that crippled the 2015 Cavs, I think it has to be noted that the Heat were similarly handicapped.

      @@Barraind.Faylestar So scouts are the reason the Lakers jump up in the draft way more then most other teams? Or that Refs helped them more then once to get far in the PO?
      Tell je you are stupid, without telling me you are stupid.

    This video is over an hour long. Adam Silver...play in tournaments, gimmick mid season tournaments, they are not going to save the game. Everything in this video is what's killing/killed the NBA.

    It wasn't a game of consequence, but the Rondo led kings played the Celtics in Mexico City, and it was the sketchiest officiating I've seen outside of combat sports

    I’m critical of Kobe’s game and time in the NBA but really appreciate everything he did during his time. He truely was a special player. That said, the only thing worse than Yankee fans and Dallas Cowboys fans are LAKERS fans. I swear the crying you guys do is ridiculous. Kobe had LOTS of help thought his career. If you give Duncan, Shaq for 5 years they ain’t losing a single ring. Yep… 03 was Kobe’s fault. Yes Kobe quit on his team. If he wanted to be like Mike then he could have worked with his team to make them better which he didn’t do. At that point in Kobe’s career he was a definite ball dominant, gtfo of my way, ultra alpha chad bro type of player. Relinquishing his control over the ball and offensive duties to make Chris Paul the primary facilitator was never going to happen. It would have been a career ending move for Chris same as it was for Dwight. Any ego at all didn’t work with Kobe. He needed guys like Pau, Tim, Tyson… great rebounders and defenders who didn’t have an ego. Team first players. In addition, the lakers traded away picks to win early in the 2k’s so they didn’t have great picks to build from in the draft. That’s their fault. If you feel like the Lakers robbing small markets is a way forward then I propose we go back to the old days and have LA, NY, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Miami, DC and Philly. Stuff those teams with all the talent so it can be LA and NYC in the finals every year. Boring AF. Kobe wasn’t getting 6 cuz he needed the type of help that wanted to play with Bron… those guys didn’t want to take a backseat to Kobe to help him get 6. Again? Great player, amazing skill, mamba mentality… all that but he had zero team building skills.

    Dude 22:45 thinking Kobe is anywhere near LeBron still in 2023 is ridiculous. There is at least one tier of players in between them on the all time rankings.

    I agree I'm a Spurs fan and even I agree Lakers we're ripped off not getting a prime cp3. I would've loved to had seen my Spurs go up against that Lakers team instead of the injured riddled team we swept in 2013.
