0:00 Intro
0:05 The technician said: "They said they were driving at 80mph, so around 15k in first gear, and the customers were actually laughing that they did this by accident and weren't mad."
The car needs a new transmission and engine but it might be going to the scrap yard instead.
0:23 Rear brakes were metal to metal (non-existent), so somebody had the rear brake hoses pinched off. Bolts to bolt in the brake calipers were almost missing.
0:38 The technician said: "ISX12 G Cummins engine."
They got the company to approve the repairs for new engine mounts and installed them when they installed the new cylinder head.
0:50 The bunny was fine and made its way outside.
0:58 The technician said: "The car came in because the customer said it died on her a few times while driving when she turned the lights on. She thought the car had a draw and had noted having an alternator installed by someone else 9 months prior. The car had no such symptom and no draw, so I asked the advisor to give the customer half the diag time back as the battery and charging system all tested fine. The customer did not mention this, but it was obvious the car had been sitting for some time. She mentioned the brakes were grinding but didn't pay for an inspection or service. I found the tires to be mismatched -- fronts were studless snow tires and the rears were bald all seasons. All were cracking terribly.
The front driver-side brake pads were on the metal and had destroyed the rotor, but only on this corner. The belt was missing almost an entire rib and had little backing material left, only the reinforced ribs. These were only about half the issues, and the oil hadn't been changed in over 15k miles.
This customer was new and very offended when we made her aware that we could not let the car drive out like that, it would tires and brake repairs, or a tow. She then changed what she wanted diagnosed, she declined all repairs and said she might buy tires and brakes if we could tell her why the car wasn't passing emissions. The car had a CEL and did not communicate with any scan tool including our factory Mercedes tool.
I found that the front SAM had water damage, it will need to be replaced and programmed before we can look into the CEL. I have yet to hear back on whether they will pursue any of the repairs or services."
1:17 The customer's brother welded a piece of metal on a brake pad backing plate to use as a brake pad...
1:24 The technician thinks that it was the customer who dropped something in his engine but was blaming it on another shop.
1:43 Ford Fusion got new front and rear shocks.
1:51 The technician said: "This is a common fault to see on Dodge's which can be fixed by "flashing" the ECU. "
1:57 2014 Ford F-150. As mentioned the mobile mechanic didn't even want to try and fix this customer's mess of wiring.
2:06 The customer cut a hole in the hub cap for the tire stem which he didn't need to do as the hub cap has a spot to make room for the tire stem.
2:13 The technician said the customer just got into an accident and brought it in for the "loud noise".
2:23 The customer said apparently another shop was the last to install the brakes on his car.
2:30 The technician said: "Severely corroded brake booster on a Mercedes-Benz R320 CDI, there is a big recall due to this happening on ml, gl and r class models, hundreds of thousands of cars have been affected".
2:39 No extra info.
2:49 2021 Toyota Venza. The customer had a flat tire multiple times, kept driving on the flat tire, and filled up the tires afterward. The customer got a new tire installed.
2:56 "Guy driving and pulling a trailer on a trailer does not have the load properly strapped down properly."

I have a car with a whole shitload of issues... What would be the best way to make sure they all get fixed correctly without getting ripped off?
I know this is a noob move... But I have zero room for error in this particular situation.
Any help would be great help.
@@caliindoor get it checked out by an independent shop would be best bet.
🤷 nuts!
❤😂
@@caliindoor a good independent shop not some crap hole around the corner. Check the reviews, even go to the shop and check it out beforehand and see what kind of workers/work they're doing there you should be able to tell right away if it's a decent shop or a crap hole you want to avoid
I'm speechless at the repairs that were attempted by the owners. The one bright spot in the video is the bunny wasn't harmed after it's ordeal.
@@esdigital5259 stfu my guy. i bet you failed english in high school bruh
His name was Thumper
I want the backstory on how it got inside there.
The Steel brake pads welded onto the backing is really crazy. Someone knowing how to weld was good enough to craft the right shape, and then weld it on, yet dumb enough to not realize steel makes bad brake pads. ????? Really ?
@@chargehanger Never heard of metallic brake pads??? /s
For anyone curious, i did the rough math. The fiat in 1st gear would have been spinning the engine at around 13,700 rpm
What about going into 4-low at around 110 km/hr? Something shorted in the electronics that engaged 4WD on my last truck on the highway and that happened... loudest noise I have ever heard, stopped faster than pushing the brakes to the floor though with some really violent bouncing, cracked the engine block, blew the transfer case and transmission, almost tore off the front wheels and twisted the drive shaft like a pretzel lol.
Any engine made will rev to almost 14k-for a fraction of a second.
@@jacksprat9209 The RV probably has 400+HP and 500+ lb-ft of torque. If you were, eh, "less than observant," you'd probably just wonder why it was a little sluggish when you were first getting going. After the transmission exploded, there'd be no more rolling resistance than expected...
@@jacksprat9209 You ever owned a manual transmission? It will spin just fine, the the tires have far more friction torque than what is required to spin the engine in gear, it's just engine compression that resists and that's not much force. It's why you can't just park a manual transmission in gear on a steep grade and expect it to stay there, you need to set the parking brake also.
@@RPG-oh1yf But still in first gear you get some significant rolling resistance. Don't try it in first gear but next time try braking just by switching to lower gears and using the clutch, dropping the clutch on second gear while going 50Mph will have your car brake harder than the brakes would while also giving a 'nice' burnt clutch smell...
As a flatbed truck driver that last one had me laughing pretty damn good.
Yup that aint going anywhere.
I couldn't pick my jaw up off the floor in time to laugh!
So I watched it again! Hahaha!
Looks good to me hahahahaha

That is a great idea. When I feel bad about my own work I will watch these and instantly feel better about being me!
@@richardbrown6565 I bet you never welded brake pads. That was a new one to me.
I know I'm a novice at car maintenance, then I remember that real people put windshield wiper fluid in their coolant system or don't know that the car has an air filter.
The number of wire nuts on that homemade wire repair cost more than a professional fix would have! These videos always amazes me ! thanks for posting!

@@briancooper4959 it’s definitely not. We’re the champions of rigging stuff up.

Some people ate just crazy.
2:53 There are no words in any mortal language that can begin to describe the level of terror I am feeling seeing this tire.
I'd be scared to stand next to it, honestly. How does it even get that bad without shredding itself to pieces?
I am amazed it could still fit in the wheel well personally.
How does it still have air pressure? My new tires have a slow leak in 2 from a bead leak because the shop didn't properly clean the aluminum wheel bead sealing surfaces.
@@jimmydesouza4375
Yeah I'm not convinced that's legit.
@@annehaight9963 im more interested in how it gets that bad without anyone noticing that the tire is the problem
OMG, I always think these issues could not get any worse. Then you guys manage to prove me wrong with a new video!!
Every single time ! ! Ah......I blame it on the Ingenuity of human Stupidity. Finding new ways of being stupid. I just may trade mark that or did someone beat me to it.
I stopped saying that because I wanted to say that for every one of these videos and didn't want to sound like a broken record...buy yeah.
As soon as you make something idiot-proof, the world provides a bigger idiot.
The zip-tied vise grips made my jaw fall open.
The mass of bodgy wires at 2:00:- It reminded me of when I worked as a TV repairman many years ago. We got a call from an old pensioner guy, so I went to his house and inspected his TV. It was dissassembled, had a mass of added wires in a rat-nest like bundle like in this video, and a lot of parts and factory wires had been cut. He was most annoyed when I refused to work on it. It was a recent model top of the line Philips colour set too - rendered totally valueless. He reckoned that as he had dissassembled it, it should make my job easier.
I found out later the old twit always had a go himself, whenever something went faulty - cars, electronics, fridges - anything. And every time he had no success and the item became a write-off.
The way that tent trailer wasn’t tied down to the trailer was hilarious!
As a tech. I love these videos. Hilarious what people do or think is ok. Just because you can, does not mean you should.
Some of this stuff, just leaves you speechless. Stupidity has no boundaries.
I learned very quickly when i started in this job to always check cars over BEFORE test driving. You’ll be amazed how many people will bring you a car in downright dangerous condition and want you to diagnose a drivability issue.
I reckon half the time it's so they can claim you messed up the car and it was fine when they gave it to you
@@kahlzun Yup. That's exactly the point. Ignore the problem they created unless and until you can pin it on someone else.
And an empty fuel tank.
@@kahlzun in my view, most of the stuff in these videos are people being to cheap to get things taken care of properly. The cynical view is that they prioritize less important things, but the more optimistic view is that some people genuinely are living paycheck to paycheck without excess and struggling to make ends meet...and'll do anything possible to get to work. Living life one day at a time - the whole "oil changes are cheap, engines are expensive" logic only works if you can actually afford an oil change (just an example). When I hit rock bottom, I didn't try any janky repairs lol but I did put car things off for as long as possible...knowing that rock bottom wasn't going to last forever.
Idiots and negligent types aside, some people really do have a lot of things going on in their life sometimes that stack up and have to be juggled. Layoffs, medical expenses, other surprise emergencies, the overdraft fees and loan fees that result from all of this, etc. - a car slowly falling apart becomes symbolic of how that financial strain can introduce even more financial strain...thereby prolonging being able to take care of certain things as soon as you'd planned.
That said, most of the clips in these videos are beyond redemption lol... I'm at a point now where I'm a bit too trigger happy replacing car parts at signs of a problem, but that's because I can comfortably afford to do so.
That Toyota tyre though... wow. It's like someone gave the thing 1000lbs of pressure and it asked for more!
I really wish I could hear the thoughts of the DIY'ers that end up in this video. Sometimes I stare at the screen and audibly ask "WHAT ARE YOU THINKING!?!"
I've seen a lot of stuff, but that tire at 2:50 is the craziest thing I've seen yet. Hey, that's my red Miata at the end with the other red cars!
Have an awesome weekend!
That car with the vise grips and zip ties everywhere can't be real!!
The car being flat-towed is a real classic! I had a "tow truck driver" come to pickup my 36,000 lb refrigerator truck, and when I questioned his not pulling the axel , he said we're only going two exits (on the highway) about five miles; so on the way down a hill the towtruck slowed like an anchor was dropped , then a loud bang . That's when I knew the towing company was buying me a new engine ! Just six little bolts ! but I guess it was too messy!!
I usually weld my vicegrips together, as I've found that zipties will eventually break. It's MUCH more secure for holding your suspension together when welded.
It's worse than that. Those vise grips are pinching off the brake lines. Look at the rear rotors. You wouldn't believe how common this is in old trucks.
That is a sign of a pro! Everyone knows cable ties are a rookie move😁😁😁😁
There's no end to this! Imagine all the stuff we don't see. You could make a TV show out of this.
How would one make a TV show of unseen things?? 😆
Right. Most of the ones we don't see ended up in an accident and were a total loss and hauled directly to the scrap yard.
@@markh.6687 The same way Funny Home Videos got people to send in videos from all over.
That last clip, you know that person didn't slap it and say, "That's not going anywhere".
😂😂 I was thinking the same thing
Oh my gosh! That last clip is how we see things leave Home Depot sometimes! They refuse to tie them down correctly and then actually try to return the products after they've blown off their truck.
We have to stop meeting like this!
Same with Costco...they'll buy a $4000 9-piece couch and try to stuff it in the back of their light pickup

I remember when the acceleration pump on my Beetle worked its way loose, headed down the intake, found cylinder #3 and picked a fight with the spark plug. It won. Thankfully, that engine is very sturdy, so no harm was done to the piston. And boy, does that flat four run surprisingly well on three cylinders!

Hope you and your wife including baby is ok, appreciate your videos and just keep on going.

We really appreciate that. Thank you!
That last guy with the trailer was clearly just progressive lightyears beyond our mortal comprehension. He's hauling a trailer that has wheels, on top of a wheeled trailer with more mechanical resistance, and with the original trailer strapped down to itself on one side. Only on one side, though. We should thank him for discovering such mechanical marvels.
Many possibilities: He just bought both of them in a package deal, for example. As for the method of securing, I didn't get to see the whole thing to judge fairly.
i have seen those pop up trailers actually fail and deploy while going down the road... maybe he was taking it to the junk yard with a blown out axel on it.
He’s one step away from inventing a sky hook.
"Captain, that trailer is securing itself! I dinna nae that was possible!"

I'm fairly sure that is to secure it from popping up during transport, and that the camper is secured to the trailer... but then again, this is America..

That last one made me laugh. I needed that.
The more of these videos I see, the less safe I feel on the road.
Cars like this is a good reason we should have yearly inspections of all cars and truck on the roads!
The last video reminds me of some photo made on the highway in my country recently (I believe it was this week):
A flat bed tow truck that had a van on it.
There was a trailer attached to that van.
That trailer was on top of another trailer.
The bottom trailer was NOT attached to the tow truck, although it had a trailer hitch...
I remember loading a flatbed with a 40 foot container and the driver put one strap around the front. As soon as he left the yard the whole container swung off about 10 feet to the left. Some people just can't seem to do basic safety checks.
I love the thumping sound coming from a rabbit/hare.
I was staring at this last toyota tire for several minutes - I just can't comprehend how this is even possible...
That half tie-down job at the end was classic 👌
My first thought was that they ran out of strap length, but a closer look and that seems to not be so.
And if they WERE out of strap length to go over the trailer then they could have strapped over the frame where it extends to hold the spare wheel.
Just hook it and crank it down right lol. I’ve loaded and rigged a lot of strange things on trucks and with cranes. Never ceases to amaze me what people think is good to go.😂.
Great clips. Always makes me laugh at the foolishness. But it's is also terrifying that they are on the roads with us.

I love your videos. And thanks again to convert everything to metric. Am surprised how some people so ignorant and careless to their vehicles. Back in my ford dealer days, a mustang towed behind an RV in 1st. Same thing, transmission came apart, engine seized. Insurance covered it.

tying the caravan down to itself is classic, now I know where all the pairs of mole-grips I've bought over the years ended up, under people's cars holding suspension and steering struts together, what a gem of an idea, nuts and bolts are just far too easy, cable ties as well. . .

@@JustRolledIn Bolted on weights on crankshafts are not that unusual. They have been used for as long as there have been crankshafts in engines. It's never a problem if the bolts are torqued down to specification and split pins inserted.
