Junk didn't last 6 months before the heat killed it and no customer service will answer or call back. Do not buy Rexing. They do not care about customers

I have the V5 arriving today. Bought it because it holds power with capacitors instead of LiPo batteries and the manufacturer says the electronics are protected up to a little greater than 170 degrees F. That was the selling point for me here in southern Arizona where it gets pretty freakin hot in the summer months.

Dude, Your video is more instructive than the manual that comes with it. Got this for Christmas (truck driver) was frustrated trying to navigate. Pro at it now. Have you have a problem with keeping or getting the cam to power up when not plugged in? It acts as if theres no internal battery, even though theres a charging icon on the screen. Thanks again for an awesome video!

Check out the Amazon review for this cam. A reviewer suggests using two round rare earth magnets to mount it to the windshield. One affixed to the windshield with the 3m tape, one affixed to the camera shoe. Easy on off. He has a video. Great idea.

Excellent review. I just bought one. I only wish there wasn’t the long and short holds; I just find that confusing. I’ve watched your video twice to understand, but I guess I’m going to have to play with the camera once it arrives.
It does have a bit of a learning curve, in the name of saving a few dollars. At the end, you'll find that you will only use a few of the features anyways. At least I did...

Are there two types of Rexing v5 versions? This one seems newer even tho it probably came out first. Main differences are the Rexing logo under the screen and the interior cam having a little sensor on the bottom. But also the menu screen is different it’s blue. The one I bought is called the Rexing v5 plus
Does the P on the right side of the camera indicate that the hardwire parking mode is on? I tried to hardwire it earlier today and I don’t know if I did it correctly for my 2014 Chevy Camaro after playing around with the fuses… but there is a P on the right side of the screen with a white box around it, I wasn’t sure if I had it correctly or not… thank you!

I got the V5 last week. The screens and menus are quite different than what I see here in these videos. The manual is pretty much useless and incomplete. There are no videos or instructions on this version of the firmware. Checking on the latest firmware, my camera tells me it's up to date. I wonder if I got a pirated Chinese knock off. I bought mine at Best Buy. Does anyone else have an issue like this?
License plates from a distance is an incredibly tall order for a dashcam. I can probably mount my $2500 camera to a mount and use it as a dashcam and I wouldn't expect perfection. I've done tests with dash cams and regular cameras and can tell you that under a lot of circumstances the license plate will not be clear, unless you got a 4k dash cam with a large sensor that recorded clearly at 120fps and that is impossible at this price range.
@@akqjtn I have lenses by themselves that cost that much. I used to shoot for cbs sports and I have done a few dozen weddings. I understand cameras as well as anyone. But that doesn't mean I'm not interested in how dashcams perform.

I didn't know that the front facing camera lense is adjustable, great to see that in your video, and I'm particularly interested in whether the interior cam lense is adjustable so if I get stopped by police I can cover the driver's window area. I bought the v5 plus from best buy a few days ago, and just installed it yesterday. I already had the hardwired kit installed from my V3 plus. My settings menu and on screen display look different, I think mines has a different firmware since it's a 3ch. However, loop recording is non existent in the settings. GPS and speedometer does not work, even though it shows strong signals on the GPS status screen. Parking monitor is lackluster, as there are still no options to change recording time. With the hardwired installed, the camera constantly stays on. If I swap the fuse positions, it will turn on and off with the ignition, but no parking monitor activation even if I purposely bump the unit with my hand or shake the car. Very frustrating to buy something with advertised functions, but are not even present at all.
@@89nikehead Will do. I've been in email contact with customer service back and forth. They're sending me a hardwired kit, and I've already told them that I have 2, but still insisted on sending it. I have my doubts, but we shall see. If this doesn't work, it's going back to the store. I'll keep you updated.

I've had my Rexing V1LG dual dash cam since 2017 and although I'm happy with it, I wanted to upgrade so I can also include the cabin camera (and, record). 7:10 - With the parking monitor feature, why the need for the hardwire kit? What if you drive a GM (or, other) vehicle where the power is always on/available even when the engine isn't on? Sounds like a money grab to me.
Hi, you can record on the cabin camera OR the rear camera, but not both at once. As far as the hardwire kit, it makes it so that you don't have to worry about your battery dying. You don't want to drive to work one day and not be able to start your car because the dash cam was draining juice from the battery the whole time. The hardwire kit will only allow the battery to drop to a certain level before it cuts off power to the dash cam, allowing you to always be able to start your car.
Your main camera link isn't working anymore, it takes you to the in cabin camera. I can't seem to find the main camera on Amazon. Your video is through.
My biggest complaint is that it's billed as a 3-channel dash camera. Imagine my surprise when I got it and found out it can only record two channels at a time. I also don't like that the mobile app is basically worthless since you can't save videos to be used outside the app. You really can't do anything with them in the app.

Anybody use a different model rear camera with this one? Mine took a dump and I'm hoping to be able to plug the existing rear cam into the modular jack (same interface).
@@akqjtn I mean like I’m driving along my 4 hour trip through the woods. I see a deer jump out and I almost hit it. I don’t make contact so I keep on driving the remainder of my trip. When I get to my destination, how do I find that exact point? Do I have to scroll the entire 4 hour video or if something happens in real time is there a button I can press where it “bookmarks” that event and then later on I can find it easy on thru the wifi
The cabin camera is garbage (as you can see with your purple image at 12:52 ). I have the same issue and Rexing says it's normal. It's the only cabin camera I have seen with this issue. The IR should switch off when not necessary (such as during the day) to provide the real colors. Even at night the coloring of the video is off. It doesn't switch to black and white. Black material shows as purple.
*I do not recommend buying this* Mine doesn't save the vids also it keeps getting stuck on loading screen after 3-5 days. I had to remove the SD card all the time and format it manually on my Laptop and had to factory reset the device all the time when it happens. Super hassle

The loop word sounds confusing, it just means the length of each video clip; one minute, two minute, etc videos.

Yes, it does. You can also get the smart wiring kit and wire it directly into your car so it's always recording.

The cabin camera is garbage (as you can see with your purple image at 12:52 ). I have the same issue and Rexing says it's normal. It's the only cabin camera I have seen with this issue. The IR should switch off when not necessary (such as during the day) to provide the real colors. Even at night the coloring of the video is off. It doesn't switch to black and white. Black material shows as purple.

The loop is too short at 3 minutes. Not good for CZcams Vids.

Mine doesn't save the vids also it keeps getting stuck on loading screen after 3-5 days. I had to remove the SD card all the time and format it manually on my Laptop and had to factory reset the device all the time when it happens. Super hassle
