    The biggest issue no one is talking about is the fact that Yuki was P10 on merit at the start of the race and was only overtaken twice, one by Kmag coming out of the pits and then by DannyRic. RB ruined his race by leaving him out on a track with high deg known to have a powerful undercut and it happened twice with him getting caught out by Zhou, Magnussen and Stroll because of bad strategy. If that had never happened Yuki wouldn't have been in the same race as Ricciardo

    • @Unknown__Luke

      @jorismak Před 3 měsíci

      @@Unknown__LukeFrom the response after, it seems that the strategy was determined first, so Yuki had to stay out any way, that was locked in beforehand. Which sucks. Daniel also said he didn't request to be first, but it was a situation that was talked about before the race, because the situation with Dani on softs being faster in the end was already expected. Dani was frustrated because his softs were gone by the time he was ('finally', note the quotes) let past it was not important any more
      So, Yuki being shafted is, yeah, true, but also a decision that was made before the race. So the decisions there matter more, and Yuki needs to pay attention to the strategy he locks himself into.
      Yes, the position could be given back, but it's P11 / P12 so who cares. Yuki had lost 9 seconds to Dani, so Dani was clearly faster in this stage. So he lacks a bit of vision here (shouting 'he is not fast at all'). Also, the actions after the flag make sure that he will never get a chance to get further in his career. But Dani could've made the whole team a lot happier by giving the position back in the last lap.

      half of the driver's job is driving; the other half is public relations. I'm sure DR could have skipped over questions about YT, but that isn't good PR for the team, since the reporters are trying to get the story from each driver. There has always been drama in F1 btwn drivers/teammates; it's built into the culture. Problems w/the drivers start at the top w/the Team Principal, so that is where you go to first to rectify team issues. If the TP loses control of the team (drivers or crew), then the TP is not a good fit and needs to go. Clearly, the TP's authority has not been understood and he needs to solidify his place at the top through (a different course of) actions..........🏎️

    We hear the radio call to swap on lap 52, they swapped on lap 53 when Max is right behind them, even if you're being generous and assume the radio comms actually happened a bit earlier at lap 51, that still leaves at best 2 laps before Max shows up at lap 53 and triggers the blue flags.
    The swap was doomed from the beginning. The entire plan hinges on Daniel passing before Max shows up or his softs get destroyed, and the window for that plan to work is really small. Even if Yuki gave way early most likely nothing would have changed.

Also there is the opinion that Norris could be a potential world champion so losing to him is not that bad and he could still be a solid number 2 for Red Bull. But i think is a moot point anyway, if Red Bull aren't complete idiots they'll get Sainz next season and secure the constructors championship for the next few years.

    Ultimately the blame goes to the team, they delayed the initial swap, so Ricciardo wasted tire life sitting behind Tsunoda, then couldn’t pass because of that loss of pace, then didn’t swap the positions back on the final lap. Even if it was a mistake on the cool down lap, Tsunoda was driving fairly hard, and it was just unnecessary. But if this is main rivalry of the season, it’s going to get punchy.
    Also, people gotta stop the ‘making another driver look slower’. Tsunoda had better race pace in the first two stints, so it was a more comfortable option for the team to put him on shards, and because Dan was out of position, gambled on the Softs to make up positions. “Oh but softs was a viable stint” it’s Bahrain, the tire wear is the highest all season, softs won’t last 20+ laps at peak performance.

    Frankly, VCARB shouldn't have been in a position where they needed team orders in the first place. They fumbled strategy on their lead car, Yuki, which put Yuki in a position that bunched the two teammates up in the first place.
    Yuki had faster race pace and out qualified his team mate. Yes, he should have moved sooner, but at the same time, Ricciardo should have proven the reason with a pass on KMag or given the place back out of respect.
    He only lost one lap's worth of performance on a tire that was much quicker than KMag (on older Hards) and couldn't get past. Much credit to KMag's defense but also to the fact that Daniel didn't make it work with what he was given.
    All we can say is, Daniel DIDN'T make the most of it for what he was given and sort of proved why Yuki felt aggrieved. Had Daniel been a couple places up the road, it would have at least been easier to explain it was the right move for Yuki...but nonetheless he wasn't.

    An important detail is that Yuki delaying the swap caused Ricciardo to lose about a lap and a half waiting for VER to get past kmag in order to attack again, as the blue flag left him about 1.5 seconds behind kmag. So Yuki's hesitation probably cost him the position. On top of making RIC use an extra lap off his fast-wearing softs.
