    I am a longtime Simplisafe customer, in this video I review Simplisafe's latest wireless home security system. I have another video posted on CZcams where I review the original Simplisafe system that I had installed in my house many years ago. In this video I talk about why I bought a home security system, how much the Simplisafe system costs, how much the monitoring, how much of a homeowners insurance discount you receive and I also show you my entire Simplisafe home security system.
    All said and done, if you're looking at protecting your home, family and hard earned assets, you need to purchase a Simplisafe wireless home security system.

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version czcams.com/users/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    I just wanted to add cameras to my 5 year old system, but when I called simplisafe said the old system would not handle the new cameras. So I would need to upgrade. They sent out the same number of devises I already have the next day FREE. Then I placed the order for the cameras. They did not want me to send the old system back. So I gave it to the grandson for his apartment. This is a great system and the tech people are great.

    Awesome video, as convenient as it is, I personally wouldn’t disarm any system remotely before opening the door, and prefer not to disarm until the door is secure behind me. If someone were to come up on you just as you disarmed the system with bad intentions, and as you were gaining access, this gives the perpetrator a window of opportunity in which your options are limited.

    I just received my SimpliSafe system yesterday and am still on my "testing" period. Because it's all new I haven't screwed in any of the sensors just in case they are not working how I would like them to or if I didn't place them in an optimal location for coverage. I figured i could move them and then screw them into a more permanent location later. Thanks for the advice about the recommended extreme mounting tape and the link. We've never had an alarm system before and I don't want to have to pay fines for excess false alarms. Great review, you covered everything very well. Too bad you didn't have a camera because your insight would be great. Thanks very much.

      We love our SimpliSafe system. I am not a "tech guy" at all and this system was just super easy to install and add or move sensors, cameras, etc.. I think it was designed to target older people that are not great with tech stuff and want something that is "simple" to install and operate.
      They did exactly that. I only had one alarm go off and it was the very first time I used the system. We had a spider that decided to start building a web directly in front of one of the motion sensors, lol. I couldn't believe it. I really appreciate your video, you helped me decide to go for this security system. Best wishes. 👍

    Appreciate the very informative video. I am just starting to look into the different home security systems out there and came across your video. Since the simplisafe is wireless, I am concerned about how long the batteries last in the sensors? Am I going to need to change the batteries often and how expensive does that start to get especially since I have a 2 story house, there will be quite a few sensors. Appreciate your thoughts and comments.

      I have been with SS for around 2013 and with the amount of money they have saved me, battery cost is NOT a problem. most sensors will go several years, smoke detectors maby 1 to 2 years. Key pad are just AA and I think I replace them every year

  • @lawrenceryan1821
    @lawrenceryan1821 Před rokem +2

    Just a note: Simplisafe DOESN'T offer replacement systems anymore at zero cost. Now, they are offering 50% off a new system. I ordered a new system not knowing that I could get replacement parts with version 3. So I called and spoke to two individuals one in sales and one in tech support ( names withheld) and they said that it was a limited promotion. Why then was I not informed of the promotion and they said an email was sent to everyone, hmmm, I didn't get one and they had the correct email on file (I checked). This leaves a sour taste in my mouth about not supporting old customers , the system hasn't arrived yet and when it does I will refuse the delivery and order a Ring system at a cheaper cost seeing that I already have 3 Ring cameras. This comment will probably fall on deaf ears but it it may help others in this situation.

      Realistically it's not economically advantageous to send every customer free multi hundred dollar systems every new generation. They'd operate in a negative return.
      It be like if you buy a car from Ford, you get a one every time a new generation comes out. Just isn't monetarily possible to operate like that and stay in business.

    Thank you for this informative video. I have a new Simply safe system with 14 new entry sensors on my windows and doors. They are mounted properly with the sensor & magnets all approx. 1/2 inch apart. The test mode shows that all is working properly. However, sometimes the app on both my computer and also my Android phone show that 3 of the sensors are in an "OPEN" state and I don't understand why when I know that they are in fact closed. I can see them light up when they are opened and closed and the keypad also shows them as being closed. So, why would the apps state otherwise? Also, when I tried to arm the system just now it suddenly showed that 2 sensors were open so it could not be armed until they were closed... but they were already closed. Could these be defective sensors as it seems to happen intermittently ? I am concerned that one of these sensors will trip the alarm for no good reason while I am away which is exactly what I am trying to avoid. This needs to be reliable but now I am concerned. Any thoughts on this?

    @user-jt3qm8zq4g Před rokem

    There's a minor negative you should mention. All devices require batteries. I have 8 devices and frequently hear the base station remind me that a battery needs replacement. Kind of a nuisance. Also, the first time this happened, it was a glass break detector that I had mounted to the wall with the double sided tape. When I tried to remove the detector to replace the battery, the tape pulled off a swatch of the wall paint. This was my fault because I didn't remember that the device could be removed by sliding it up or down (like the keypads) to release it from its backing plate. The point is, take notes when you install so you remember which way to slide the device for removal. Otherwise, you run the risk of doing touch-up paint chores.

    From user experience SimpliSafe is "good" but Ring is better in MANY ways. I almost bought SimpliSafe and then looked further into Ring and choose Ring as it as MORE options, better protection and recently upgraded to the Ring Pro hub which has a built-in router to keep "other" devices (Non Ring) connected with cellular backup in a internet outage which is HUGE for me like SmartThings and HUE for example for automations. Now the Ring Pro setup is NOT for everyone but for me is everything I need being a single person. No other system out there offers a built-in router with a cellular backup to keep your devices "connected" in a power loss or internet loss for only $200 a year operating costs! With the Ring Pro built-in router you can control which devices will have backup cellular connections and which ones will not. With the ROBUST sensor offerings Ring has at only $200 a year with the Pro cellular backup - compare this to ADT with cellular backup for their system devices only at $55+ a month! That's $660+ a year for way less options! Which do you want to pay $200 or $660+ a year??? PLUS the three year contracts ADT binds you to! Break that "contract" and be prepared to PAY BIG-TIME! Ring has NO "contracts" other than paying up-front for a year to save you some MONEY! You can of course cancel and get the balance back with NO fees! The Ring hub is also has a VERY loud siren where SimpliSafe is less than half the decibel level of noise. You WANT a system that not only makes "NOISE" and will cover your back with 24/7 backup.

    Agreed SimpliSafe system is easy to install. It's a good monitoring system but for the poor quality of their video doorbell camera from internet connectivity standpoint.
    I did purchase it along with the Video Doorbell Camera but the camera goes offline (no live stream) with a message 'Disconnected from the internet' every 2-3 minutes. SimpliSafe attributed it to my poor Wi-Fi network when in fact I have 5 GHz-600 MBS speed bandwidth along with six Google Nest Wi-Fi routers.
    When I complained to SimpliSafe, they asked me to the split the Wi-Fi network into 2.4ghz and 5ghz since SimpliSafe doorbell camera works only with 2.4ghz bandwith (this they do NOT say anywhere). I did the split and connected the SimpliSafe doorbell camera to 2.4ghz Wi-Fi network but in vain. The camera went offline as ever before. They sent me a replacement camera which too had the same 'going offline every 2-3 minutes' issue.
    I repeatedly called SimpliSafe and asked for a good solution. They had the cheek to say I should move my internet router (which is about 10 feet away from the doorbell camera) closer to the doorbell camera. That was the last straw that broke the camel's back and I canceled my subscription service. While the rest of the SimpliSafe system works, the doorbell camera does not since it's outdated. Today's doorbell cameras support dual bandwith (2.4ghz and 5ghz) and SimpliSafe lags behind, thanks to their outdated technology.
    I am currently using the SimpliSafe doorbell camera without the video recording feature from the web interface (smart app disabled due to my monthly subscription cancelation) though the the camera goes offline every 2-3 minutes but then I am not paying $27.99 for the poor quality of the camera. I can't return the equipment since I am past the product return window.
