SimpliSafe now offers self-monitoring, although you’ll only get notifications with the Interactive Plan. They also added a Google Assistant integration, and cloud storage is available separately from monitoring. They’ve also added a professional installation option for $79.
SimpliSafe may be a relatively new company, but they’ve proven themselves in terms of their flexible and affordable monitoring, high-quality hardware, and optional professional monitoring. This review will discuss everything from system components to installation (but keep in mind that this video was made before SimpliSafe offered self-monitoring through local alarms and before the SimpliCam had two-way audio).

In this review, I discuss SimpliSafe's Summerfort Home Security System which includes a base station, wireless keypad, entry, motion, and glassbreak sensors, a security camera, a panic button, key fobs, and an auxiliary siren. As the majority of the #SimpliSafe system’s components are wireless, you can install the system without any professional help. All plans come with 24/7 live alarm monitoring and a cellular connection.
I’ll go over how well the system works, how easy it was to set up, and what your professional monitoring options are. Then, I’ll discuss customer support and finally, the SimpliSafe app, your mobile command center.

It is very easy to install and it works very well, with a clear picture through the app and good in-home use (we added the chime, which is also easy to install and doesn't require another thought to use).

I've had this system LONGGGG before it was this popular. Paid only like $300 for a rather big system, guess it pays to be one of the new customers:)
I don't have these new designs of everything, but it works perfectly to this day. No signs or labels either...it tells the idiots that are going to TRY and breaking, which system you have. NEVER post them!!! I mean it might make a teen dope run away. But a real thief will know how to defeat the system you have. I see all these 'Brinks' and other security systems sings in yards,... it just free advertising for the company, and it give the thieves time to think of a way to get past your system.
I'm getting ready to buy a SimpliSafe system and they say security system signs in the yard help deter a break in. I absolutely agree with you though about not giving the the thief any information about your system. That's why I'm getting ready to buy an ADT sign from Amazon to go along with my SimpliSafe security system.
Good idea! I see all these security systems in all the multi-million dollar homes yards, here in Ft.laud. And IF i were a thief, I then know how they install their systems, they are all the same install, and how to defeat them. You need to catch them by surprise!!@@michaelb.8953

I disagree I am a security professional. For your run of the mill break in signs are a major deterrent. If your system is local (not monitored) then yes, but quite honestly that is mostly pointless. Signage is on the best things you can do. Also actual companies that install alarms install all different brands of systems depending on the customers wants and needs. There is no cookie cutter option. I do not know about the simpli safe however, if you were to break into a home with a monitored system I have installed you could rush in and rip every device off the wall.... and the signal still goes out. The signal goes out the second that zone is tripped. If it does not see a code entry the signal is already sent out.
Disagree. Preventing even a single attempted burglary pays for the system. A security sign is no different with public display of police cruisers. Visual signs/labels are psychological deterrent, it makes potential burglars think and decide if it’s worth their time to commit a crime or simply move on to another home. Your thought process is reactive which is simply wrong. It’s all about prevention.
I will be purchasing this system from my local Best Buy. And because of your in-depth analysis and attention to detail I know to that this is the best system for me.
It's a really good system. This is what I have. I have never had a problem with it.
I hate to break it to ya. You will only get the old SS1/SS2 system at retailers. You will also likely end up not getting all the sensors you need. You also will have a good chance of your base station failing you because it does not recieve firmware updates and it has become notorious for losing the signal and you wont know it until it is too late.

@@clrjazz actually, Im not surprised. It ise to be that way, atleast as of October of 2018. The got a 1 billion dollar investor and well, they had too many issues with the older model.

I was looking for a quick CZcams vid on how Simplisafe works. Your review was lengthy but highlighted key components of the system that are important to the consumer. Great review and video editing. Do ANY of these systems with remote (wireless) door and motion sensors send warnings when a battery is dying....or when a device has become disconnected? Samsung utterly failed at this for us ...it's the false-negative logic problem of no news is good news.....but in security no news is more likely to mean a dead sensor....or offline camera etc.... YIKES! Thanks for all the reviews and helpful tips. Dead or missing/lost sensor or camera notification is the only test I have been hoping to hear more about.

Much appreciated G.T ( and the whole crew at Security Baron)....I had not spotted that article before you pointed it out LOL....it's a good problem to have when you have so much good content. This really feels like a better year for cameras in general. Maybe my old gear breaking down will turn out to be perfect timing when hindsight is 20/20.

An excellent well-balanced review. As an owner of the original SimpliSafe system, I am curious as to how long the system will operate when the electricity fails? I replaced the 1000mAH NIMH batteries in the base unit with 2500 mAH batteries to increase the time to 24 hours. Thanks again, for a good review.

After I purchase this system do I have to pay the $15 a month to have it monitored? Or can I just have the system alert me and not call police? Would I still be able to use the app if I was not paying the $15?
You have to pay the monthly fee to use SimpliSafe at all. Only with the $25 a month Interactive Plan will you be able to control your system remotely and receive notifications. I have the $14.99 plan and i get notifications when my alarm goes off or are you speaking of phone messages? I get phone calls from control station.
@@cgmarner Hi, so since I wrote that last comment, SimpliSafe has added an option without monthly fees, however it's basically a local alarm system- you won't be able to use the app at all. If you're paying for monitoring and your alarm goes off, the monitoring team will call you to verify an emergency and see if they need to call emergency services for you. Yep i got a baofeng 2 way radio tuned into the frequency wireless devices use just turn it on and drown out the signal from the transmitters/ sensors. I would never put any companies stickers on my peoperty for the simple reason that a google search reveals the companies FCC listings which i thought would be common sense.

I put a ADT sign out front, which isn’t the company I use and is a different frequency than the company I use. Figured it will make most thieves go to another house

Never ever advertise to potential thieves as to which system you are using. The window decals and yard signs are stupid. The reason ALL security system makers give them to you is for free advertising for them. Why make it easier to compromise your system?

I agree, I would never advertise this. If an intruder kicks my door open, I want them to be surprised by the alarm, as opposed to prepared for it.
I agree, I use signs from an Old system in my yard so good luck intruders.

Purchased a system after watching a few reviews including this EXCELLENT one right here!!. 😉 Very modern,clean looking system.
I have 8 entry sensors, 4 motion sensors, a camera and 2 add on sirens. All were installed and synced to the base in about 45 minutes. Super easy to install and set up.
Best part..... NO monthly fees unless you opt to pay for monitoring.

Man, I love the way you explained the system. I‘ve had the SimpliSafe system for 2 1/2 years now and I love it. I had little minor things going on, but was fixable with a call to company. I live in the country, all trees. I mistakenly walked out the door one day to shake dust off some rugs and the next thing I knew, the police was in my yard. It took 6 minutes for the police to get to my home. They called my husband and he was on the road and was a little messed up, but I was fine. This system is worth every single dollar I have put in it. I’m by myself a lot, so I feel so much better now knowing that SimpliSafe has got my back 100%. People trust us, this system gets a 5 rating from me.🎉❤
