Bill Maher saying Green Day is the only good punk band is the perfect example of how he's the epitome of the mainstream he claims to be against.
@@BestWorstMusicanEver It doesn't take balls to be a contrarian. It takes balls to stand for something and actually propose solutions instead of just pissing and moaning about everything. Maher "calling out both sides" is really just him opposing everything without having anything to stand for.
@@BestWorstMusicanEver I can agree with you there, it's better to say something rather than nothing. I just think it's a false statement for Maher to say he's, "pushing back against his party," when he hardly aligns with the left anymore. Also Green Day is peak punk until 21st Century Breakdown and then they became irrelevant. I wasn't going to include American Idiot but I can't give that album up.
@@elduderino007not punk, but a great opera rock.
You mean the trio of ageing woke-rock lesbians?
@@popefrancis1629 ok grandpa. Go take your pills and take a nap.
"As much as he's into it, he also isn't good at it" really summarizes Bill Maher in a nutshell
He promotes it as a free forum medium....just as long as his guest talks about 10% of the time.
Reminds me of the old Norm joke about how Bill is giving away all the answers to our problems… and for free
sadly Norm's answers would prolly have been even worse
@@billyconnelly3568 difference is that Norm knew that his role as a comedian was to be funny first and foremost, he didn't take himself too seriously and was largely private with his political beliefs and his faith. I have a huge amount of respect for Norm.
@@freem8son86
He was a comedic craftsman, far from a favorite but he earned his place among second-tier greats.
That said, he was right-wing, you have to be a dummy not to see it.

My favorite Club Random interaction forever is when he had Kris Jenner/Kardashian on the show and he had a lit blunt in his hand and he stares at her for a while and says "You really do look like Kim Kardashian" and she half laughs and says "well... yes... she's my daughter..." amazing to make yourself look so much dumber than Kris Jenner
I had to see that interaction for myself and, you're right, it's amazing - "Kris Jenner | Club Random with Bill Maher" at 15:11.
bill makes me want to never smoke weed again
'He's closed shop' is the best expression I've heard in awhile. Perfectly put.
Really how so? Examples? Evidence?

He should start calling it Old Rules. He hasn't had a new idea in years.
It's hilarious that Bill Maher still views himself as a cutting edge iconoclast but even my 70 year old mother refers to him as "that grumpy old man".
Sounds like Tim Heidecker
@@electric1522 Nope.
Yeah. Somebody needs to tell the millions of people who watch him.

Yes yes!!,,, that's it!!!,,, sooooo smug!!!
The line about Bill being in a halloween costume while complaining about VIP lines was so hilarious haha
Still, the Richard Dreyfuss episode is a hoot. Like a parody of itself. lol.
He went on Firing Line and complained he couldn't do Othello.

Bill Mahers next move, Fox News
Politically Correct with Bill Maher
@@BlueBeetle1939 ayyy I'm new here and recognized you bluebeetle! Kavs recent vid on gaza was perfect : )
Here's a secret: Fox News isn't wrong about every single thing. Jon Stewart basically smirked and eye-rolled the common sense out of an entire generation. "Nice bowtie, dummy" isn't an argument. Leftists give people the option of feeling stupid and guilty, or playing along and making others feel stupid and guilty. Persuasion plays no part, which makes it all but impossible for you guys to put two and two together. You've literally been trained to attack people who make too much sense. Club random is the worst name I’ve ever heard for a podcast
It really is unbelievably bad
It's so incredibly stupid.
"Hey, what should we call our podcast where we talk about movies?"
"Oh, I don't know, what about 'Club Movie'?"
"Works for me!"
Emma Vigeland says it sounds like it’s a show on the Disney channel that airs after “That’s So Raven”.
@@RenataKleinRK😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
It's just hard to understand how someone can be so far up their own ass while making a career of engaging in dialog with other people of wildly different viewpoints...it's almost an art in a of itself, really.
"T-shirt underneath the button down shirt" and then cut to Tim and that's exactly what he's wearing 😂
Tim is like half his age and grew up in the era when that look was basically a uniform.
Bill adopted the style out of a "this is hip right?" mindset. For bill it was a choice, for tim’s generation it was "the style at the time".
It’s the equivalent of Tim showing up in a full Emo outfit trying to seem down with the kids… Bill is old enough to wear a hawaii shirt with parrots on it. It looks odd when an ancient guy adops the style of people half their age. Calling it out makes sense.
Holy fuck thank you for putting this into context. Tim is still VERY cool and his reputation is NOT sullied by this shirt combo incident. @@JimmyNuisance
@@JimmyNuisance Hope you didn't pull a muscle reaching for that one.
Maher essentially is like the man child stoner friend from high school but with deep pockets. 😅😅😅
the guy at the party who starts trying to talk to you about philosophy while you're trying to have fun
Bill Maher as Dracula yelling at a bouncer: "I vant to cut ze line!"
Sad trombone
It's been several years since I considered myself anything even close to "a fan" of Bill Maher, and I'm embarrassed that gap of time isn't even far, far longer. even back when I semi-regularly paid attention to him and watched Real Time, I'd somehow compartmentalized how lame it was that he'd routinely get genuinely angry at the audience for not laughing at every single joke that it was the most golden thing they'd ever heard. Barking that they just had a stick too far up their ass or something.
Same. As the years go by, it's become harder and harder for him to hide his disdain for nearly everyone. For a while, the comedy outweighed the douchiness, but those days are long gone.
Most embarrassing figure I've liked a bit in the past. I will say he's seemingly gotten far worse than 10 years ago, but still very embarrassing.
And you're exactly right about the crowd thing; and what really makes that funny/pathetic is his crowds are the biggest bunch of clapping morons I've ever come across. I legit hate him lol
@pjmccall I dunno I think the comedy has always been C Level at best. I just agreed with him that the world burning is bad and Republicans are extremely dumb so 20s me dug Real Time.
Haha Bill has never been angry at the audience for not laughing. How delusional are you?
@JDCTheater huh? Whenever they groan he ALWAYS says something along the lines of "oh come on!" Nothing worse than a dummy who is sure they are smart
I didn't hear what you said. I was shuffling beverage coasters on my coffee table and stacking old TV Guides.
“… Stacking old TV guides.”
😅😅😅😅😅
When they mentioned Bill Maher at the Halloween party, I'd like to imagine that he still just dresses up as Dead Steve Irwin every year.
Bill Maher is the Piers Morgan of comedy.
Nah, Piers at least platforms people he actually disagrees with and has it out with them.
I can't tell if people are hating on Bill now because he's making more conservative talking points or if it's because people are finally calling him out for being the obnoxious know-it-all he always was...I think Norm Macdonald said it best..comedians are supposed to be funny...Bill always cared about being seen as smart.
Lol...I was thinking the same thing....trust me it's his obnoxiousness. It's not his views left or right
Apart from being vocally athiest he's always been pretty conservative.
why not both💜
@@SuzakuX
He's definitely not conservative
I mean most political commentators that are comedians are a mix of both. Jon Stewart, Colbert, Carlin….they all would rather be seen as smart than funny but who cares….comedians have always been philosophers; albeit deeply flawed and insecure but that’s part of the package.
In terms of the guests driving up to Bill’s house instead of to the HBO studio - Bill actually lives in a bungalow ON THE SET of his HBO show haha
That’s the wisest thing he’s ever done. Roll out of bed at 12:30 and just reading jokes from the prompter… explains so much.
If you guys haven’t already, check out Kyle Dunnigan’s Bill Maher impressions 😂😂
He did it on JRE, then in a later episode Rogan has Bill Maher on as a guest and Bill said he doesn't mind people doing impressions of him but thinks that Kyle's was a bad impression. In fact Kyle Dunnigan does a PERFECT impression of Bill Maher.
I just remember Bill being so drunk that Quentin Tarantino looked concerned, or just annoyed by him. I doubt Quentin will be back for another episode in the future.
Bill Maher’s biggest fan is Bill Maher
Burying Bill is literally one of my favorite forms of entertainment.
Bill Maher club random is just him yelling at people to get them to see his way of thinking
Cant wait for the 48 hour special Tom! You got this!
The fact that he thinks Green Day is a punk band says it all.
And it would be fine, but it's the smug assurance that just does it for me.
Btw, Tom Sharpling WFMU?
I just found this channel & I'm thinking; same guy?
Granted it's been awhile.
From the Kaz, Chris, Irwid, Mr. Finewine days, but I'm so thrilled to have found this!
And the fact that it's going in on Maher, just makes it everything I needed at this moment.
I like when his guests have no idea they're being recorded in the beginning, and do things like give away their address. Right, Weird Al?
Wait, and Mahr *broadcasts* that?
Dear God.
Tim Heidecker has turned into the actual LA Guyz
Don't see it.
come on!@@refoliation
@1:20 seems like Bill and Jimmy Dore have something in common. Closed minded everything they say is right. And everyone else with a different view or opinion are wrong....amazing.
I mean, it's not wrong to think that... *if* you can back it up. Maher and Dore just *assume* it, because that's easier.
I think Maher only said he liked Green Day because they recorded Real Time's newest intro music. He probably couldn't name an album or another song of theirs.
Yea, but maybe he could.
And it wouldn't matter
He'd name only Dookie or American Idiot.
Back when people still resources Bill's takes it was very clear that personally he was a total prick, that was part of what made him funny.
But at a certain point a prick is only a prick.
I remember there was a story about how Bill Maher used to expose himself to women he would meet, after usually inviting them back to his place, and then brag about what a big dick he had as he whips it out in front of them. I lost a lot of respect for him before hearing that story, considering he's compromised so much of what he said he stood for, but that was kind of the icing on the cake for me
We need another episode!!
thanks for the video
I predicted Maher'd say Green Day.
Glad to know this show exists. Subscribed.
Spot on!

Ever since Bill Maher went on Rogan, he discovered the harsh reality that he's a media dinosaur so as a result, made his own Rogan wannabe show that no one watches. These old media guys like Bill and Howard Stern are no longer relevant in today's podcast environment. Time to throw in the towel!
sorry, but rogan stopped being relevant when his show stopped airing live. it's all staged now, nothing real can ever happen again. it went from being different - real and risky, where one blunt could tank your stock overnight into just more of the same edited garbage being put out. a lot like hot ones, once they started booking A list guests, it just became another live advert for whatever garbage these clowns are hawking. boring af

Nah, Bill would wear some tacky, shock-value Halloween costume, tying back to some famous celebrity death... and then get angry when local media or paparazzi say that his costume is "in bad taste."
But, he'd get REALLY angry when no one notices or cares at all.

I continued to watch Bill Maher because he has a large roster of diverse guests who usually give a wide spectrum of ideas. That hasn't been the case in a long while though, now it's the same 10 talking heads that appear on MSNBC.
a wide spectrum of all the dumbest ideas lol
Yeah he basically stopped having anyone genuinely progressive on because they started making him look so bad. Charles Blow is the last one I can remember.
I remember he used to say, "You're so brave for coming on my show as a conservative." Then he would just spend the entire interview praising them. Ann Coulter comes to mind. It was really weird. I guess it's that idea I've heard a few times where if you aren't nice to your guests they will stop coming on your show and you won't have guests anymore.
@@NucularRobit I think I've also heard that he is legitimately friends with Ann Coulter.

A lot of this is really petty. Like they're just looking for excuses to criticize him.
