A litlte bit about us ..
Is it possible to TRAVEL YOURSELF HAPPY? Let's find out !
We are the Cookes, Nicola, and Nigel. We love to travel. In 2018 we bought and converted a VW Transporter van and spent 3 years traveling around the UK and Ireland. At the time we also travelled with our beloved cat, Guinness. She was 20. Sadly we lost Guinness in Feb of 2020 and then well the rest of the world went to pot.
After a few 3 month trips to northern Spain and France, In early 2023 we sold our property back in Ireland and hit the road full time. For the remainder of 2023 we explored Spain, Portugal, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.
2024 plans are being formed and we look forward to bringing your guys along for the ride.
This channel will primarily focus on our travels, with the odd smattering of photography and food thrown in for good measure.
Travel safe.
The Cinque Terre rail card also covers La Spezia. We got a 3 day card, stayed in La Spezia and visited 2 villages each day using a combination of rail and hiking paths. We even managed a boat trip on our last day. Book in advance and take your time. It can be crowded, but, as you found out, so worth it.
Absolutely … and this is what we would do next time … it’s a beautiful location .. was the boat expensive ?
@TheTravellersCookeBook In La Spezia there are several boat tour companies that you can easily get tickets from along the dock, just like hopping on a bus. We took a trip down to Porto Venere. There are, of course, more expensive boat trips with food and wine at sunset if you fancy.
Good advice. We missed out when we tried to go in Jan (2018!) because of really bad weather so it’s still on our list.
Yes … we highly recommend … wish we had planned a bit better mind you :)
Hi you two! I also follow an American couple Snow and Curt. They also visited the same place. I think they were there March or February. If I remember correctly they stayed in the Station Parking lot for about 10 or 20 euros a night. It’s only that month you can do so. If you have time check out their videos. They’re currently resetting their Schengen visa in Montenegro and Albania.
Will certainly check them out … it’s a great location and one we hope to return to one day
Good videos, interesting but a bit expensive.
Yes it can be .. thanks for watching
