- We’ve arrived in Paris! Rather than a city of love, we’ve found a city of scammers! Join us this week as we camp in a campsite within the Periferique and spend a wonderful day walking and exploring the many historic sights and sounds of this glorious city!

I’m glad you came clean about the shared bathroom at the end. I do a lot of motor cycle touring and the thought of having a clean shower block at the end of the day is the icing on the cake. They usually are and the fact they’re shared matters not one bit. I’ve just spent a couple of days in the marina at La Rochelle. The washrooms there were as good as ever despite being shared. I’m also a fan of cheap overnight hotels now and again when travelling and I really don’t understand how so many other travellers don’t see them for what they are, a cheap, clean place to have a good nights sleep. If I use one while motorcycling it’s probably because the weather is really awful, I’m already soaked and can’t face me and my wet gear sharing a tent so a nice warm dry hotel room is a welcome sight. I cannot relate to people who need luxury in those situations.

We’re trying to plan our return to Europe but since the camper is parked outside Paris we have to plan around the Olympics.
Ohhh I’d stay well clear of Paris unless you already have tickets!

Its very generous of you to keep making videos of your adventures . Hope you manage to get plenty of downtime without the camera and are able to enjoy family moments without thinking this would make good content. We've watched your channel for some time now and often wonder how you manage raising family, family and friends relationships, running a company, and blogging commitments. You must have lots of energy!

in 1966, me and a mate hitch hiked (from the uk) to that very campsite. Amazing it's still going. Strangely now living in southern France and like you guys have a Camping Car. love your videos.
Ahh wow, what wonderful memories!
We rented one the huts in December. The site itself is great, we didn't use the shuttle as my mum can't walk far, so we opted to drive into Paris and park near the places we wanted to see. Throughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we are driving.

Those inter rail passes are really good, I did a couple of them when I was in my 20's think 26yrs was the limit. took a month off work and travelled around Europe staying at youth hostels. you really learn a lot from travel as you already know.

In July 2022 I spent a week on holiday to France.
Because we got to France on P&O and coach on the Sunday - 38 in group it was the end of the Tour de France during this time the coach had to drive around the city.
We stayed Novotel in Saclay
Great hotel. Went to see Palace of Versailles
Chateau de Vaux-le-Vicomte - Drax’s mansion lair in Moonraker and a few other places in Paris. Montmatre also
The only issue a good issue was we travelled during that really hot weather when in 🏴it was 40 degrees for those few days and it was hot in Paris
I also went with my parents a few times once in 1984, once in 1985 and once in 2004 with my mother

Good vlog again. I actually managed to find a free parkup on the western side of Paris; just inside the peripherique by the Porte d'Auteuil, and a few hundred meters north of the Roland Garros arena, behind the Hippodrome [racecourse] d'Auteil. Relatively safe, and surprisingly quiet at night. 12mins bike ride across the Bois de Boulogne from Camping de Paris 👍💙❤

That campsite also allows you to use the showers and waste disposal for a fee. They were full when I went last year but was well worth it for a shower stop. The showers aren't great as the button only works for a second 😆

A typical scam at places like this is they offer you a 'trendy' bead type bracelet 'for free' then because you are on holiday and off guard you accept but then they follow you and hound you for a payment so if this happens just give it back haha

Disgusting that the authorities do nothing about the scammers, it’s not like they don’t know where they are. Explains why so many immigrants are able to jump on a boat so easily.

I was so rubbish at foreign languages as a kid. They tried to teach me French for about 8 years, but I was able to order coffee and pizza when we went through France, so not all wasted.
That and a croissant is about as much as you need - maybe beer/wine too!

A really enjoyable bimble round Paris, Steve and Lyndsey. I'd love to take Viv-i-van there next year if i pluck up the courage to drive abroad lol ( you'll probably say its easy peasy lol) You guys really showed how bril it was to visit. I was impressed with the campsite too. A tad on the expensive side but having holidayed in France pre covid ( I didn't drive) I know since covid, literally every campsite everywhere likes to pump customers for money so its par for the course everywhere. Its been fun watchng you drive the hire camper back in this series and its deffo something I'd love to try myself. As ever, much respect to you and the family 🙏- Kenny

You guys travel a lot, which is great, love seeing the places you go to, but don’t you guys have any hassle from authorities for having the kids from school ? I know I used to find it a it’s nightmare.
No, we only travel during school holidays. We do try to cram a lot more than “normal” in to our travels! But “normal” is a bit over rated 🤣🤣🤣

On this particular vlog we left our big Sony ZV-E1 with Sony B1M shotgun mic that we use for most of our vlogs at the van and just took a small DJI Action 4 with the DJI Mic 2’s as it’s a much lighter weight setup for walking around cities.

A friend has just come back from Paris and said they have raised all prices have you found the prices high I have been to Paris several times not sure i like those scammers never saw any of that

There were so many, and so many different scams
When we were last in Paris amongst other scams someone tried the 'gold ring' one. A woman 'found' a gold ring in front of us and said to my husband she'd sell it to him to give to me. We'd heard about this so my OH said we should all go to the police station to hand it in whereupon she scarpered.
Still love Paris but I don't think I've ever been anywhere where it is so blatant and bad.

Great vid, shame about the scammers. I actually was scammed in Paris at a metro station by a group of individuals ' assisting' with ticket purchase and travel advice . My family & I lost euros, time and stranded with incorrect ticket without reaching our destination. Yes, watch out for scammers ! Safe travels guys 😊

I am amazed that you managed to eat anything,with a stomach bug it's best to just drink fluids to flush the bug out of the system, eating food tends to feed the bug and keep it going in your body longer get well soon.
Luckily I was done and dusted in 3 very rough hours during the night.

It’s central Paris so you’ve got to expect to pay a little premium I’m afraid.

I don’t think it’s possible to dodge them in Paris!
I doen´t matter where you live you will get scammers...particularly if you walk around with a microphone on your hand...you look the typical tourist. I live near Düsseldorf and we have loads of scammers there as well...we walk around with an aldi plastic bag and never get bothered...even though my son is taking photos on his mobile phone.
It’s fairly new to us, we certainly don’t see it in Milton Keynes.
I live in Australia and as far as I know we don’t have them hassling our tourists either.
I nearly bought a pocket sewing machine off a street trader..

Why is Harry always looking at his phone ?? Every time we see him his face is in his phone...
Because he is a teenager. Sometimes he’s chatting with his mates, sometimes he’s keeping up with the football matches, sometimes he reading more about the history of where we are, and other times he’s just keeping himself busy while we film.

Why have you suddenly started carrying your mikes? As far as I can tell it has made no difference to your sound quality. What it has done is made it more obvious to passers by that you are filming! Drop it please!

And believe me it made a massive difference to the audio quality, especially in the shots where we panned the camera or Lynds was a distance away where the audio from the shotgun mic would have been lost.
Europe has fallen pleased we left. But afraid it's too late for UK too.
