  • I need to finish tearing down the Coronet's 400 so that I can get the block to the machinist. There were no real surprises except for a mud dobber nest where it shouldn't have been.

The 451 stroker 400 , is one of the best bb mopar combos 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

It seems to be a good combo, I'll have to see what ends up happening.

Another great video, Chuck, very informative. I will be referring back to this when I do my disassembly on my 451.

Hello, New subscriber here to your channel.
    I'm Ed from Ed's Machine.
    I like all Mopars.
    The 400's are great platforms.
    Thanks for sharing. 👍

Cold weather block? The 400 blocks are the best blocks mopar made, period... Get the CR up to 10.8 to 1 minimum and as high as 11.2 to 1 forr 93 octane pump gas from Shell. Tune baby tune.... Will follow to see where this project goes. - Enjoy

    *Chuck!*
Yes, of course - the 451 combo is well known (and therefore, hopefully well debugged) at this point.
While the 400 was probably the best of the low-blocks, I disagree with it being better than a 440 though.
They are simply serving different masters is all - a forged crank 440 has so many advantages inherently.
Either way, you're going to have a lot of fun with a higher-rev BB - but if you're going to use a purple shaft,
seek out and find one that was made a couple decades ago. Trust me on this, lifters too.

I'll expand more when I put the motor together. The 400 has far more meat around the crank journals than the 440 is what I'm referring to. I don't plan on using that purple cam, but this motor was together for over 20 years. Who knows how old the cam is.

Nice. I'm building a 400, 512 stroker for my sport fury vert.

Chuck I would not listen to uncle Tony on much. If you want a guy to talk strokers with that knows his shit. Talk to moparjoe. My buddy moparjeff in Minneapolis runs strokers too and knows how to build them. I do know Tony pretty good so not bad mouthing him but he is far from a expert on stroked motors. The 451 is a very nice street motor. The 65 will scoot pretty good.

@Chuck_House_of_Mopar chuck look up @justmoparjoe. Or @moparjeff604 Jeff has built more strokers than anyone I know. There the only 2 guys I trust on the net. I am a engine builder myself with 48yrs under my belt but strokers are not something I do.
