  • The majority of the body filler has been applied and sanded. Now it's time for a coat of Poly Primer to set the car up for a smooth finish.

Lots of sanding to go, but you guys got it looking pretty slick.

Looking good. How did you identify the areas that needed filler? ,by wiping on wax and grease remover, or similar for a shine ,and then marking with a pencil?. Oh,and if you wet the floor with a watering can ,later on when it's dry you can sweep the paint dust out the door , and your floor should look as good as it did before.

You give the primer a light sand and that identifies some spots. Mostly you just do it by feel, I can feel some of them but Jay and especially Drew are better at it.

@@Chuck_House_of_Mopar Iv'e been doing paint and body work for more than 40 years , and have learned a few tricks, and one of them that could help you at this point is the following. Before guide coating the undercoat ,block sand it all over just enough to break through the tough outer skin ,then blow ,or wash ,the dust off , then guide coat it ,and then block it to perfection. In my experience it results in significantly reduced effort ,and straighter panels. Also I much prefer wet sanding for the easiest, best result, (and no dust).🙂

Hey Chuck, How many quarts did you apply in this session? Also looks like you need a 2.0 or even a 2.5 tipped PRIMER GUN to spray this stuff... I just purchased 3 gallons of this type of product for a 66 Charger project here... I Haven't tried to spray any of it yet. I have been using a 2.0 tipped gun, but I purchased a 2.5 tipped gun to use if necessary. give me some feedback please. Thanks, Frank.

It was 2 gallons and we ended up having an extra quart so that got sprayed on the problem areas like the top of the quarters. Not sure on the tip size, 2.0 for sure. The first gallon was really lumpy and was a problem.
Don't spray the louvers on top of the cowl, I guess the stuff will eventually crack off.

Looked like such a narrow pattern, and close up... I can't imagine shooting the whole car like that... Thanks for the feedback. I will probably be using the 2.5 tipped gun I have. Later, Frank.@@Chuck_House_of_Mopar
