You missed my favorite bit. That Caleb is basically going through Maeve's S1 storyline now. He gets to read the file that defines his entire life.
Yeah. Someone on reddit also mentioned how Doloras put Caleb through what the hosts had to go through in order to break them from their loop. Which is awful pain. She did that by taking him to the diner and making him relive his worst memory. That broke him free of his loop. Pretty dope.

Dolores 2020: Make humanity great again
The RICO thugs weren't looking for Caleb. They were there for Dolores. So Caleb wasn't a victim being warned by the RICO app of his own possible demise.
Also, the app is for criminals in the underworld. Part of the deal might be that criminals prey on civilians not each other.
@@jmchez yeah criminals attacking criminals could get messy real quick. It would be great if we got more info on how the app works but instead Nolan and Joy want to fool us with multiple timelines and mirror simulations. Things like the RICO app is world building that is needed to create a world of rules. If they spent more time on world building the show would be better.
i thought about that, but then i guess he meant that it was ‘warning the victim’ bc the app shows location? 🤔
@@bxvtriz but Caleb isn't the victim. If Caleb wasn't with Dolores but instead let's say a block or so away. Caleb would get the same alert from the app. Its not about him but Dolores. Now if Dolores used the RICO app now i can see where you folks are coming from.
I took this more as there being a posting about cop needed to do that job. So when the police show up he clearly knows they accepted that crime listing
I absolutely loved Tessa's acting in this episode
Same. She was amazing in this episode
One of our best actors right now, period. She's fantastic.
@@SuperRobertoClemente I remember thinking that she was kind of weak in the first season but since then she's been great in everything I've seen her in since.
@@RTukka I wonder if it's because her character wasn't fleshed out then as well as it is now. if there was any semblance of the backstory we NOW have, then I wonder if her performance would have been different
@@RTukka I thought the same of delores, but now I'm in love with not only their performances but also their characters. I hate to say it but women are simply getting better roles nowadays, I havent found myself rooting for strong badass women (as a male) as much as I have the past year or two. Witcher had some strong female leads too, it's so nice seeing these storylines playing out from polar perspectives
I don't even know how to feel about host Charlotte. She clearly has some remorse for the fact that she's faking Charlotte's life. Maybe she's developing some sense of empathy towards humans, and might go against Dolores' plan.
r0se I like this if it’s a Dolores clone, specifically because Dolores said she trusts her, and I think Dolores shouldn’t trust another Dolores. She has shown that she thinks for herself, and doesn’t follow orders. It would be fitting if Dolores2 refused to acquiesce to Dolores demands
Teddy rebelled against Dolores by taking his own life. Charlotte hurts herself in a similar way. Self cutting are signs of suicidal tendencies. At the apex of your above mentioned conflict, Charlotte's maternal responsibilities may spare herself from such destructive path. Respect for life, in this case a human's, may have transpired from the grieving of dead loved ones, in this case a robot in Teddy. Bereavement is a learned path of awakening for humans, as is for robots.
@@ssotkow Teddy also defied her by not killing those people when she ordered. Then he got fixed.
Just as Alt X mentioned, “All children rebel eventually”
Charlotte will rebel and Dolores will regrettably put her down but learn the lesson that she can’t control everyone.
Charlotte is the man in black. He's the perfect guy to infiltrate delos. He was with dolores last season and thought he was a host. He has internalised guilt about his daughter, hence his empathy and protection towards chalotte's, also his brutal emotionally-driven killing of the pedo.
in the first episode Caleb says when he delivers the drugs and asked by the security guard if he wants to make it the first time he's been shot in the head that someone beat him to that too, in 20:53 you can see in the data below that in 09/05/48 he had a skull fracture less than a year before Francis's death.
Maybe real Caleb died and this Caleb is a host. A military host.
Suliman Damn u got some solid vision there lad lol i cant see for shit, is it in that bottom right corner?

Wow that dolores theory is wild but makes so much sense
Wait until you start thinking that Caleb's mind might be in Charlotte's host-body...
Yeah, then it won't make sense anymore. So you're good for now, Saad.
@@joshtargo6834 doesn't make any sense lmao. You really think Doloreos is gonna get Caleb in Charlotte's body in a span of 1 day? Stupidest theory I've heard so far

Alt Shift X: "You can get these books on Audible..."
Me: " Oh God Damn It!"

The transition was smooth af.
When Charlotte is "remembering what it's like to be me" she's wearing black. The rest of the time, she's wearing a version of white or pink.
*Paint It Black - Ramin Djawadi starts playing in the background.
as to be William right? That's what I was thinking. She also remembers she's a predator.
I’m seeing a lot of people confused about the Rico app “warning” Caleb. The show runners explain at the end of the episode that the Rico app is built on the blockchain, like cryptocurrency. Therefore it is decentralized and anonymous, it doesn’t know Caleb is viewing his own hit. Hope that helps!
Where did they explain this?
Yup as he is on the app he can see everything and no one can personalize the app for a user as its blockchain
Charlotte is a unique creation of Dolores’ and she will eventually rebel and that will teach Dolores she cannot “control” everyone or everything.
Aaron Russo I like
I like the theory this new Charlotte is Caleb in the future and the scenes with Caleb are all inside a simulation, then shit happens and Dolores pulls Caleb from inside Rehoboam to the real world
Not likely, she says "why can't I be myself, like you?" So she is a individual host.
but i hope its not the stereotypical "you cant control because freedom is better #murica"
i think charlote is a copy of dolores
Everybody reads too much into the title, Dolores lived on a ranch, she’s not there anymore, boom, “absence of field”

why not both
And your name spelled backwards is 'Mit' so you're bound to catch everything or be a turtle in the senate. Don't catch anymore, particularly the 'rona.

Its crazy how the theme of "having choices" is shown in both the parks and now the outside world: In the park, guests have choices that matter. In the real world, Rheoboam is in control, and now vice versa for the hosts. So who is truly free?
No one, but the super rich are the closest to free
no one
The real answer of course is that no-one is free because free will cannot possibly exist in such a complex material world governed by inescapable natural laws of the universe. Everything after the big bang is one big predetermined chain reaction we have absolutely no control over whatsoever. Free will and true freedom is honestly a laughable concept and the most positive thing I can say about it is that it is a reassuring lie to the many people who need to believe it, although in the end it is ironically more freeing to face the absurd head on and accept it, and choose to live and be happy despite the absolute lack of control and fundamental meaning that humans inherently so desperately search for.

When Bernard runs a diagnostic on himself in Episode 3.2 in the Westworld park, one of the images he sees is Arnold first activating Dolores, so that seems to indicate Dolores added Arnold's memories to Bernard. My theory on this is Dolores meant for Bernard to be a back up. If Bernard has a complete memory of Dolores, he can recreate her if she's destroyed, the same way she can recreate Arnold and presumably other hosts from her memory. Bernard keeps scanning himself for tampering that might not be there--all Dolores added to him is enough of Arnold's memories to recreate Dolores. Since Bernard has already rebuilt Dolores once, she knows he'll do it again if their species depends on it. So Dolores doesn't need to tamper with Bernard's programming to use him as backup/restore function.
I'm convinced. I'm totally into new Charlotte being a Dolores' replica trying to understand who she is. It makes way more sense than Abernathy/Clementine/Teddy.
Honestly dude, you are just so great at this type of analysis. I feel so lucky that a channel like this can exist and thrive.
I really hope Charlotte isn't one of the presumedly dead characters or anyone in the Sublime, because that takes away from those parting moments and sacrifices, or the idea of the upload into host haven being a permanent thing. It's way more interesting if she's a new baby host, or a copy of Charlotte or Dolores.
i think charlote is a copy of dolores
So no Teddy?
Good call on the Dolores copy.
Idk why but I cried when Charlotte sing you are my sunshine. I felt something
The Last Question is the most mindblowing short story ive ever read. My old High school teacher introduced me to it.
Agreed! If you liked that then I can strongly recommend Asimov's 'The Gods Themselves'. I recommend it to everyone and anyone interested in science fiction or Asimov. It's in my personal top 3 of all time.
@@AliceDiableaux i never read that one. Can you give me a short synapse? Im looking for good books to read.
I'm still wondering how people are able to create so many layers in a series, and still manage to deliver a coherent story. You do not need to dig too deep to understand the story, still the further you dig the better it gets
Been waiting for your fantastic analysis. The red pearl is really interesting. Excited for next episode! (AND YOUR NEXT VIDEO OF COURSE)
Alt Shift X is really Rehoboam.
Could the new Charlotte be the “original” first version of Delores? The sweet country girl we first meet in the show. With Charlotte’s memories and, with the wild version of Delores seeing how ruthless Charlotte was in person, maybe it’s all those different interpretations of her in the Pearl and that’s what’s causing the new Charlotte to glitch and damage herself?
Katt Winter makes sense bc that sweet dolores had recently been wyatt and she says “youre not the only predator” so... 🤔
@@bxvtriz maybe Charlotte is Wyatt himself, separated from Dolores and uploaded
This is what I thought when watching for the first time
Tessa better get an Emmy for this. Some of the best acting I seen on Television for a few years
lol don't watch much TV then.
This season is already way better than the last one!
I'm enjoying it. Bringing the story out into the "real world" (if it is) has reinvigorated it. And Maeve rocks as always.
@@kmcorby Yep, Maeve is one of my favorite characters too
How many times did you watch the second season? I must say I was kind of disappointed by season 2 the first time I watched it, but when I watched season 1 and 2 again in preparation for season 3 I found myself enjoying it much more.
@@AliceDiableaux Yeah I think season 2 was better than people give it credit for, however this one is on another level. I'm excited for every new episode like I was during season 1
AliceDiableaux
Agreed, I also rewatched S2 and was more emotionally invested and therefore liked it more than the first time, despite some minor issues, like how can William survive that long with 4 shot wounds and why is the security guard so dumb and doesn‘t stop Angela from destroying the cradle and basically all the other things that Alt Shift X mentioned in their videos. So yes, S2 is not as good as S1 and its story could have been told a bit less confusing and messy in general for my taste. But I disagree with the partly strong refusal it meets with by some people. I also liked the Shogun world Episode unlike several S2 critics. And yes I really dig s3 until now. It could be as great as S1.
She says this murder helps her to remember who she is
- a “redditor”
I think Delores "farm girl" is in Hale. Wyatt is in Delores.
“New Charlotte” ...sounds like a _good_ band name.
Welp, you nailed it on the clones. Well done.
I've read a couple theories that Caleb is somehow in control of New Charlotte or that he himself is a host, but the scene where his heart rate is manipulated kinda shows that he is not a host. First, the tablet states that cardiac arrest is probable, and unless this is some fake cardiac system in the hosts then he has a human heart. Second, the tablet reads out his hormonal response, metabolic response, and peripheral response. These are all linked to his adrenal rate. As the paramedics stated with Dolores, hosts have no adrenaline. Love the videos and the deep dives into them!
Caleb is definitely not a host, though he might have some cybernetics in him. Remember, he says that he's already been shot in the head before, so that might explain how he's "different"
@@tite93 Does it have something to do with why Dolores picked him? When Martin deciphered the message ‘I’ll lure him to the underpass” it was Caleb who she met there. In the opening scene of the teaser trailer czcams.com/video/sFlDH3NzM2I/video.html
Caleb walks between light and dark. It could represent how Caleb walks between human and host with some sort of AI residing in his head.
TheRichardchaney Oh man, this is a good catch
That’s a good point. Hmm. But something about Caleb isn’t right; I don’t think his mom is actually saying he’s not her son due to her old age. I think Caleb in some way was replaced or rebuilt or modified, but he doesn’t know it himself.
Wow now the breakdown is almost as complex as the show itself... thanks for this!
I predict Alt Shift X is really Rehoboam ; )
theory: part of caleb´s brain is bionic, its how they brought him back after the shot in his head and why his mother doesnt recognize him, because he is now, half human, half host.
Ghost in shell sort of situation, crossed my mind while watching.
I think she just hasn't seen him since he was a little kid. And is now regretting that decision.
I thought it was similar to how hales kid doesn't recognize his mom
@@stevenlourie9444 I meant the doctors gave him a bionic brain, like giving someone a prostetic because it lost a leg or something
@@stevenlourie9444 In some oder comment it is mentioned that the brain injury is from begore his friend died so he was probably still a good soldier then.

22:00 Caleb seemed to like his robot colleague, he ate with it if memory serves early on, and the robot broke free and tried to help him, although he got tossed off the building for its troubles. I think Caleb might be artificial friendly, a more I judge you on what I see versus what you are.

I came here to say that you were right about Charlotte’s identity & I’m impressed because no other reviewer has ever thought of it.
ggreat1999 thanks for the spoiler alert 🤗
I don't think the Rico app is warning its victims it may just be warning other Rico users to stay out of the way of a job in progress. This would also explain why Caleb gets notified of his own bounty its not warning him specifically but putting out a notice that he is high value to all Rico users.
My boyfriend and I were specifically waiting for your analysis of the episode. Also, cannot wait for tomorrow after show discussion thing!
The combination of these videos with the show make it so much better overall! thanks for doing this!
5:39 you were the only one to predict that correctly!!! Well done! Can’t wait for episode 4 review
The buzz audio messages Serac sent sound like old analog modems! :)
The Last Question is fantastic, just like your recaps. 🔥🔥🔥
In the first season the twist was that it was set during different timelines. This one I believe it's not set in the same "world". Some scenes are set in the real world, and others in Rehoboam's simulation. The episode's clear symmetry and mirror theme symbolises exactly that. In fact, the first time we see Host Charlotte watching the recording of real Charlotte for her son the video is similar, but different than the second time she watches it. I believe the first one is Rehoboam's simulation because that version of the video isn't as heartfelt as the second one, and Rehoboam still has problems with human's reasoning behind their emotions, which is why it needs the Delos' data on humans to improve itself, because in the parks "people show what they really are" like William said.
That’s what Hax Dogma said in his video posted Friday.
Thanks for doing a great deep dive into episode 3
I don’t have enough words for complementing you, and your explanations!

i wait until these videos are released to watch the new episodes so I can watch them back to back. That's how good your analyses are!
OK BUT DID WE NOTICE THE RECORDINGS ON THE IPAD ARE DIFFERENT FROM WHEN WE SEE IT AT THE BEGINNING VS THE END??????
Yes! And this leads me to think that the show hints at showing how Rehoboam tries to predict the future based on input data. It's pretty darn good at it, but as long as there are divergences (in the circle) it won't be perfect
I have the feeling that Dolores is running a simulation of her revolution and we are seeing both the simulation and the real life attempt at said revolution.

Has anyone else noticed that some of the Rehoboam visualisations, like the one just after the intro of ep 3, have a title, or subtitle "Special Circumstances". In Iain M. Bank's culture novels Special Circumstances is a clandestine group of A.I. minds and humans who interfere in the development of civilisations to prevent their destruction or the genocide of parts of their society (among other things). They also very cunningly, and appallingly, manipulate outside actors to achieve their goals when they can't interfere directly.
Is this a subtle nod, or hint at similarities, to Iain Bank's Culture?

RICO is anonymous, you never know who gave you "the job" nor the real identity of the one who completed it. it did not warn him. the app told him there was a hit on some dude named Caleb. it also asked him to take the job or not. had he not been in RICO he could have never known there was a hit.

The Last Question never fails to bring a tear to my eye. It's amazing. I personally feel that this is the best Westworl season yet. We finally have a proper tangible concept to think about and see our characters go through it. 1 and 2 were more, philosophical, theory based, the question was hard to answer because we don't have a proper answer yet and anything they would say concretely would inevitably be unsatisfying, so they made the right call and just added questions and made the characters act on feeling, impulse or emotion. Not really answering the question but dodging it. Now they have a real chance to showcase one possible future for us, instead of question to always keep with you, in the space between your mind.
After seeing episode 4, you were right! You genius
the mirror imagery in the charlotte-dolores scene is a great catch!
You so smart. I'm catching up after watching episode 5 haha you nailed it
alt shift x still killin the game, kudos yall
Love these! Keep these up!
Man you nailed the shit out of that prediction. I'm glad I didn't watch this until after ep 4.
Hey, there! Great video, love these analyses, but I have to add that the word Robot was introduced into English by Karel Čapek, as it means 'work' in Czech. In his 20's play R.U.R., Rossum's Universal Robots, he already lays the foundation for the way we think about Robots and intelligence today, and also on the way Asimov thinks about it years later. You used the word 'robotics', I know, but I do think that misses out something key. Asimov basically just added 'ics' ; ).
"Im a dead man either way" is because Rehoboam predicted he will commit suicide.
I miss you Alt Shift X. Glad to start this show and continue you watch you after GOT :)
Appreciate your content as always, thank you very much.
Caleb is a defiantly stubborn man with a death wish. Thanks for that, because I couldn't understand why he just didn't say, "Guys! The blonde left me in the middle of the street. How could I know where she went?"
Even ford's pearl was red so Bernard's pearl being red explains how he can remember Arnold's memories their intertwined somehow

Last night I disbelieved the Dolores theory while watching this discussion of episode 3. I must confess I didn't understand it .... But now I do. You had the insight of something I had missed. I grew up reading Asimov; The Foundation books and, before that, The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradburry are fundamental to understanding Sci Fi of this kind. And now it's gotten bigger ...
Great work, thank you very much for this videos!!
I think there may be a 6th unseen pearl in Dolores' bag.
I mentioned it in the stream, but the scene of New-Charlotte's silhouette standing within the 'eye' of Delos portrayed her as the slitted pupil of a predator.
