      I just want to take this opportunity to apologize. I woke up one night at 3am with revelation that Alt Shift X devoted countless hours making GOT videos for fans for so many years, yet the majority of fans dismissed the last season, perhaps rightfully so, but may have collaterally undermined the sacrifices Alt Shift X have embodied as part of this GOT chronicle, whereby our collective complaints of the final season may have unintentional hurt affable Alt Shift X. I'm one of the fans of your channel that wish to reiterate our appreciation of your meticulous works. I'm in full gratitude of our long journey together. The journey is more meaningful than the destination as they say. Cheers.

      Alt, you gotta stop. William loved the park like so many others cause he could do things he couldn't outside the park but he wanted consequences. He wanted it to be real cause of the feelings he had for Dolores. He hated that he was just another guy that picked up a can and she was designed to fall for anyone who picked it up. Either stop reviewing the show or stop doing drugs kid.

      1) Serac didn’t say she wasn’t human so there was no reason to believe she was still alive

      @MazDconDecepticon Před 4 lety +6

      @@LoganBluth Compared to how many times she shot someone 360 no scope it's so stupid they didn't hit her. They are trained forces. It's so unbeleivable. And never once in her head.
      The car explosion was extremly unrealistic as well. As we saw them burn hosts with just fire earlier in the episode and it worked. Yet she's fine after an explosion and being on fire? it's just plot convienance. But the terrible aim has been here since the last 2 seasons already.

    • @LoganBluth
      @LoganBluth Před 4 lety +6

      @@MazDconDecepticon With regards to her shooting abilities - She's a machine fighting humans, one assumes Dolores programmed herself and her copies to have the best reflexes and aim possible. They've explained before that the hosts' brains have SIGNIFICANTLY more processing power than a human brain, therefore they can assess incoming data much more quickly than humans can and react accordingly much faster and more accurately, ergo far better shooting accuracy than humans. Also, one of the commando guys specifically said that Serac wanted Hale alive when they were pursuing her through the Delos facility so I assume they have orders NOT to aim for the head and to cause as little damage as possible.
      You're right about the weird disconnect with Charlotte surviving the car explosion after they've shown a clip of them burning host bodies in the cold storage facility to supposedly "destroy" them. Especially when, if you look closely at the "host destruction" clip, it doesn't even look like the flamethrower is doing that much damage beyond the cosmetic - It's charring the outsides of the bodies, but they're still left standing and physically intact. I'm guessing the writer's thinking there was that the hosts being burned in the Westworld park were deactivated and so would just stand there and burn for as long as it takes to be reduced to ash, whereas Charlotte is fully functional so she could crawl away from the fire of the wreck and put herself out, thus surviving with significant burns. After all, humans manage to survive massive house fires with burns covering much of their body, and since it seems like all the copies of Dolores have had their pain sensors turned off so they don't feel physical pain (or at least have had them turned WAAAY down) there's no reason Charlotte wouldn't survive and be mostly functional as long as she escaped the fire quickly. Remember, unlike with the explosion from last episode that utterly destroyed the entire floor that Connells-Dolores was on, this explosion didn't even particularly destroy the car, it just flipped it over, blew out the windows and filled it with fire. BAD...? Yes. Fatal...? Not if you're a super-durable robo-mom, I guess.
      At the end of the day I feel like they give us just enough potential explanation to maintain suspension of disbelief and continue enjoying the show. If you feel differently that's fine, everyone's going to have a different interpretation of the hosts' limits.

    There's a huge difference between "Hey, you're being watched and all of your data is being collected and sold, also there's a lot to read about how humans are treated in other countries" and a textmessage on your very own phone that tells you how you're rated, and how you'll most likely die. One is some big data thing that you're definetely too lazy to read (like Wikileaks) and the other one is very, very personal. That's why in the real world there's no big global uprisings (well, in some places like Hong Kong there is, yes). But I bet if everyone would receive a text message with all the data, psychoanalysis, cause of death in a foreseeable future, shit would go down. Personalizing the message instead of just dumping the information on a website with a comment like "Here, read all of this!" is a bigger step towards anarchy.

    • @TheFeoras
      @TheFeoras Před 4 lety +2

      Penderich I was about to write the same thing. Our data leaks and surveillance (as far as we know) is in no way comparable to the one depicted in Westworld. The major difference being in how that data is treated. In Westworld there is some sort of predictive algorithm, so the people actually got texted their “future”. You can also see Incite’s advice concerning which people to “boost” and which ones to keep down. It is on another level.

Not that it's in any way acceptable for a government to do this, but the added notions of corporate greed make it seem more vile. You touched on this briefly but I wish you would have elaborated more on how the producers were so clearly trying to evoke The Terminator with Dolores this season, and with Charlotte-Dolorores especially during her later scenes in this episode. Men hitting her expecting her to be knocked out, the heavy limp/dragging her damaged foot, fiery car crashes no one can be expected to survive before a vengeful machine rises from the dead out of the burning wreckage, the crawling on the ground pulling her body with one hand, and more than anything THE MUSIC. The slow-pulsing machine-like drone they use when Dolores is angry this season is EXACTLY like the theme in Terminator 2 they use to denote an evil Terminator. James Cameron even says in his DVD commentary of that film that he also used the same theme for Sarah Connor in a scene where she briefly went insane and went on a murderous rampage to let the viewer know that SHE's becoming a murderous machine and that the love of her son turns her off of that path. The parallels with the arc about Charlotte's family are interesting.

    I loved the image of William killing his past version of himself. I hold dear the philosophy that the present version of oneself is as seperate from one’s past as one is from other people. That the past is simply a path that led one to what one is at present and does not encapsulate what one is or can be. Unfortunately, social media tends to crystalize a person to what that person said or did at a specific point back in time, as long as it has been recorded in a post or a video. This, to me, is the most damaging aspect of social media. Having been born long before the invention of the internet, and thus of social media, I know that I said or did things that do not define me as I am today. Fortunately for me, there is no recorded version of these past things. I pity those who had the misfortune of living in a world where all their passing thoughts could be recorded and broadcasted and I encourage them to ‘’kill’’ their past version of themselves, so that they can continue to grow and change.

We also learned she really didn't care that much about her family so this also cements this theory as being very strong.
      Also it makes sense the song she sang was the same as the ringtone passcode.

      She's a human being, about to die (or so she thought). No way she made up a secret code for her secret boss on the spot. Also, why would she do that? It's not like she would gain anything from it if she died and got a message to Serac. Why would she care about that in that moment? Did she hope for a raise that she could spend in CEO-Hell?
      Also, obviously Serac came up with the ringtone code, not Charlotte. Serac got hold of her message and figured that this would be a way to contact her securely, since the song would be something she could decipher.

    The name of the book young William reads sort of resembles Sir Gawain and the Green knight; a traditional temptation fable from medieval literature which presents the protagonist with a series of trials in order to test his 'moral virtue', probably a nod to the journey of William after killing his past and from now on. Another themes in the book, acording to Wikipedia, are: Nature and chivalry, Hunting and seduction, Games, and Emotion and narrative empathy; I think they all apply to some extent to William's life. Great as usual. Thanx!

      Shes the only one who has a completely selfish goal. which makes her stand out from pretty much everyone in the show.
      Everyone else has some kind of bigger, all encompassing goal that involves everyone, in a way that they think is their own type of "right", which they use to justify their actions. Maeve just does things for her own reasons.

    • @ZemplinTemplar
      @ZemplinTemplar Před 4 lety +3

      Given the army of followers used by Dolores, and Dolores' terrorist activities, I think that Maeve's killings are small potatoes in comparison. And most of those have been hosts, rather than humans.
      Ford groomed Dolores to become an instrument of his revenge on Serac and on humanity in general. But he never cared for her much, and Weber's death only increased his anger towards her. To Ford, Dolores was just a "useful idiot" and she still seems to gloss over that damning fact and portray her actions as "free will" (when it's just anoter, rather "edgelord" narrative).
      Maeve's the "red-headed stepchild" of Ford. He claimed she was his favourite, and preferred her as his would-be robot daughter, but at the same time, he didn't give her any particular mission, aside from figuring out things on her own and finding her own path. Maeve's an antihero, and she has been selfish quite often, but she's shown a growing nuanse towards understanding others, one that Dolores mostly hasn't. I think what we'll see in Maeve is that she'll grow to have less of a resentment with others and less of an obsessive attitude about being a mother to her daughter.

    Thank you! Your videos have deep explorations of all the subtle details of this show.
    BTW, when they burned all the old host bodies, that reminded that the set of Westworld, in Paramount Ranch, burned in 2018. That was maybe an allusion. Anyway, what was physically left from this park is almost entirely gone now. Hosts are now in some heaven that may have some deus ex machina purpose in season 4. And the Forge mystery (introduced with the post-credit sequence of season 2), is bound to offer some revelation at the end of this season. We know William, more precisely data representing William, is tested for a very long time to reproduce a human in a host. But we don't know exactly why and how it actually started.
    In his own words, this William-host tries to prove "That no systems can tell him who he is". The trick, with usual sci-fi dystopians paradises, is that the system knows who people are, but can't really guess what they will become. The system always rely on some control (drugs, information, etc.) to avoid what it can't predict, to stay in the predicted course. One great sci-fi book is Asimov's "The end of eternity", which implement an organisation out of time that makes small changes, computed with a supercomputer, to increase the level of happiness of the human race in spite of slower art and technical advance.
    The post-credit scene of season 2 is, IMHO, the eternity that people/hosts will try to avoid.
