    Hi Chris, I've purchased the lens few months ago and have been very happy with the lens. My primary usage is on my full frame 5D MKIII and 6D for event photography, sometimes for commercial product and portrait when I want to include the surroundings with the subject. With my Canon 70-200 2.8, it's been a great combo for events and saved some money as well! Having used the Canon 24-70 II as well (great lens), I had to save some $$$. Little difference for the price. Thanks for helping me to make my decision. Your comprehensive review helped! Cheers!

    I bought this lense for my Canon 6D yesterday, so far, I'm really pleased with it's performance. 'Took late night photo sessoin in Graz, Austria tonight, and I'm impressed! It's at least three times better in low light than my 24-105f4 L (even at f4, tamron is laike one stop better, lower ISO, ...); I'm selling my working horse lense :)It's good, but not as good as this Tamron.

    I have their 70-200 (not the G2) and it is incredible. This is going to be my next lens. I am mostly into portraiture, so the two lenses should be all i will ever need. So far I love working with the 70-200, however I feel in studio work the 24-70 would be more ideal. Nevertheless I have grown to love Tamron products.

    I think for the price of them used its a no-brainer! I’ve had this lens since 2016 and I still use it for a lot of my work. If you’re just getting into full frame - pair it with a (D600, D610, D 700, D750, D800s etc.) and you’ll have great set up especially if you’re just coming from a crop sensor with a kit lens

    Just picked this lens up for $80. It had been dropped by the previous owner, so the focus and zoom didn't.
    2 hours of repairs later, and it works great now.
    Definitely not a good internal build quality as Canon L glass, but that reflects the price of this lens.

Standard 6D is a fantastic camera in its own right, the 6D mk2 is going to be way overpriced, already been told it's going to be priced a lot more heavily than the original 6D. The price of the lens is quite reasonable and I'm looking for a good used sample. Tamron has updated this lens to the G2 and from what I've read they are about the same optically but the VC is much better with the G2 but being a low budget shooter when it comes to premium gear I'm looking for the original G1 model and YES Christopher Frost is a big influence in my purchasing decisions!

    I have just one question I am gonna match my D610 with either this Tamron lens or new Tokina 24-70mm f2.8, Did you have a chance to test the latter lens yet? I'd like to see the the difference in terms of image quality output. Dunno if the Tokina is worthy extra 150 bucks for a heavier lens without VR, but it apparently has very great image results, sharpness and not as bad vignetting. Would be a very handful review:-)

    I shot with sony, with the 28-75 what is a tamron 28-75 with diferent dress, so, you can say that this one is un improvment over the mentioned ones?. Thinking on replace the one I have, and selling buying is kinda not so expensive at the end...

    Whats your view on using this and other full frame lenses on an APS-C + a 0.71 speed booster such as the Viltrox?

    I really like your channel and in depth lens reviews, i hope you can help me out. I can’t deside which lens to choose for my Canon APS-C body. I can’t choose between this Tamron 24-70mm and the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM. Disregarding the focal length and price difference, which lens would give me (in general) the best quality pictures?

      Take a look at my review of the Sigma lens and you'll be able to see the differences in image quality :-)

    Hello again, if I already own the Canon 24-70 f/2.8 USM L (version 1) do you think this would be an upgrade? I do a lot of hand held/low light work. The "VC" + 2.8 looks fantastic on paper, but I'm also accustomed to the rugged nature of Canon L lenses. Do you think Tamron holds a candle to canon in the build quality department? Let me know what you would do.

    • @TerraWan
      @TerraWan Před 9 lety

      Inkwellish vs the M1 this lens is imo sharper. There was a big step up from M1 to M2 by Canon on sharpness and this Tamron is slightly less sharp (but not a big difference) and half the price of the M2 version

    Hi Chris, I like your review. Do you think you would be able to do a review on "Tokina at-x 24-70mm f2.8 pro fx" or do a comparison with Tamron and Canon equivalent lenses?

  • @Raksonevs
    @Raksonevs Před 6 lety

    Should'n corners always be softer with a wide aperture? You would need a spherical surface to photograph and thereby acheive equal distance all over.

      The issue you're referring to is called 'field curvature'. Properly designed lenses should be able to cope with that.

    Bought this for my APS-C camera a few years back thinking I would upgrade to full frame. Should have just got a Canon EF-S 15-85mm. I really do love the f/2.8 but this lens is heavy and 1.6x crop is not great on this range

    Hi Christopher, Great lens reviews.
    I bought this Tamron 24-70 2.8 VC to go with my GH4 and Metabones Canon EF adapter.
    I don't seem to be able to get infinity focus when lens is at 24mm. the marker in the viewfinder stops well short of the little "mountain" logo and leaves everything in the distance out of focus.
    Can you advise why this might be happening.
    When you zoom in to about 40-50mm this problem goes away and Infinity Focus is achievable .
