I'm doing a fanfiction where the main character's sword is destroyed and he's taught to use a special spear (one end spear, the back end has a khopesh sword instead) by a new teacher. I know the spear is by far superior to most fighting weapons with it's reach and flexibility in a fight. Now I'm playing a VR game on my Oculus 2 called Legendary Tales. It actually uses real mechanics and gives you bonus dmg when you do the move correctly. So I'm learning how to use a spear and playing games with my son at the same time. Great job Kali! Spear is the most effective weapon for home defense, providing the opponent is not using firearm AND your house is not too narrow. Spear provides longest reach in cold steel world that can easily cope with short knives or even machete that robbers often use. They don't stand a chance against even the first thrust with short combat knives or machete on their hands. Thrust is quick, powerful, long reach and thus, extremely hard to dodge the attack. Spear is used along the history and it witnesses the growth of almost all civilization on earth, Asia and Europe, small and big kingdom. While enchanting sword is the primary weapon depicted in war movies due to its cool look, well in fact, spear, crossbow and other long range weapons were the real primary weapons on battlefield for both infantry and cavalry. Sword is only often the secondary weapon of ancient soldier that is always attached on belt just in case the primary weapon held on their hands, the spear, is broken during combat.

Spear, Shield and Bow in my opinion are humanity true weapons, a wise man once said "give value to the things that surpassed the test of time" these 3 equipment were used by almost all folks and were in almost all wars due to how effective they are, they have changed and evolved a lot and new fighting styles and stances were created, with a specific sword there's not that many different styles while the spear changed a lot, even though my favorite weapon is the Sabre and Rapier I recognize the Spear, Shield and Bow as humanity true weapons and I think if we create something like a lightsaber and start using it on battlefield the spear will still domain, power, reach, speed, technique, usability, the spear is a master at all

@@LuisFelipe-pq9lr there's not that many types of swords? And I kinda get where ur coming from with the test of time but then again kinda not. No one uses a spear any more or have they for a long time unless in a 3rd world country. If any melee weapon was to be considered to endure the test of time id say the axe/ hatchet would be the only one along with knife. Only 2 still being used in the military today. Bow replaced by rifle. For silence.. well guess what replaced that. Spear fell out before we were fighting red coats kinda maybe a little after as well bow. Give me a ak or sks and 1000 rounds of 7 62 and I'll take on 100 guys with bows spears and swords

Spears are easier to use than a sword. There's a reason why the primary weapon of ancient and medieval warriors around the world and why ut was called the king of the battlefield . If someone invaded your home armed with a knife a spear is a perfect weapon to keep your distance while giving you the range to attack. You also have the option to use the blunt side to incapacitate instead of killing.

What's the best stance when you're right handed ?
Left hand forward or right hand forward ?
I'm guessing you'd want your most powerful hand holding the base, so left hand forward and right hand back would seem to be the best choice. But I could be wrong.

Holyshit, this was so fascinating, educational and therapeutic to watch. Way more interesting than working out in a hot stinky gym with a bunch of other sweaty guys. This is the way I want to train, doing something that actually has practical benefits and outside in a beautiful environment surrounded by Nature.

Um...I have a three-foot long dancing cane...wait, I also have a six-foot hollow metal pole in the garage, which is actually lighter than the cane. Between the two, I can drill.
Thanks for the instruction! I would love to see more videos! It's good research for a novel I'm writing. It's a really small part of the story, but I want to get the details right.

A couple of nearby kali clubs don’t teach spear or bo staff, is that normal?

      Unfortunately most Kali schools don’t.

Is it possible to use a spear with a "pointy tip" for defense without killing or seriously injuring someone when it comes to protecting your home?
