Switching from Lead Acid Batteries to Lithium & My Victron Shunt Failed

- Today I replaced the lead acid battery bank in my garage for a lithium battery. The lead acid bank I was hoping would last longer and would be better suited for the garage over the winter but it had too many deep cycles below 12v and stopped holding a charge over night. After I hooked up the new lithium battery, my Victron smart shunt stopped working and would not power on. I checked the fuse and completely disconnected it and hooked it back up again but no luck. I never had any Victron solar equipment fail on me like this. It's only been in service for 4 months so It's a bit disappointing but it's still under warranty so I'm hoping to get it replaced by the manufacturer. I also finished cleaning the debris from the camper that was demolished in previous episodes and moved a of old tires. Overall a productive day and another step closer to cleaning up this off grid property I bought nearly three years go that was very distressed. The previous owners left a lot behind.

slow and steady.
I'm playing the long game... I'm starting to see some fruit. The progress takes time and I don't always see the forest through the trees at times and it's easy to get overwhelmed in the noise but I am finally feeling like I am getting somewhere now. Long haul. A lot of hills and valleys... one step at a time.
@@offgridco It is coming along!
I was jsut watching where you said the shunt just stopped working. probably had something to do with the fact that you hooked up the polarity backwards.
It turned out the small 1 amp fuse on the positive lead of the shunt blew. I do have one black wire shown on the positive side but that was just because I only had one cable left and it happened to have a black sheath on it. You could be right though, something caused the small fuse to pop. It was pretty frustrating because I tried all sorts of things not realizing the small fuse went. Live and learn. :). thanks for watching and commenting. Take care.
@@offgridco Yeah < think at 1:29 or there abouts, you can see that you switch the wires to the correct way. you popped the fuse right before that I think. Live and learn right?
@@sNEAKYnIGHTmUPPET Yes, that was frustrating not realizing what the problem was when it happened. Thanks.
