  • Two birds with one stone! Due to construction work behind the scenes, the skulls in our Mammal Collection are moving. And as we pick them up piece by piece, we also record them digitally. So that everyone who wants to research these historical unique objects has easier access to them. Especially all those who have not had the opportunity to visit the collection before!
However, this “showcase of evolution” should not only be experienced digitally. As part of our Future Plan, we will make much larger parts of our 30 million-object research collection accessible to visitors than before. Who knows what ideas you, as researchers or non-researchers, will develop when you see the skulls?
A film team accompanies the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin on its way into the future. On CZcams, you can become part of our #MuseumsEvolution!
The earth is changing. Every second. For 4.56 billion years. But this change is going too fast lately! This is shown by the speed of species extinction and climate change.
We are making the museum fit for new challenges, also structurally. As a place where, in the future, a million visitors a year will be able to engage in an exchange about the preservation of our natural foundations of life. And as a place where more than 200 scientists are already researching life and the earth. We are catapulting the 30 million objects in our collection into the future - analog and digital. For all of us! So that we can work together on solutions - for nature and the cohesion of society.
