      Dollar for dollar, especially if it's a street car, yes, just get the 18 manifold. Ported if you have extra money. It doesn't require any special throttle body, cai, and clears hoods like the previous mustang intakes. In order for some of the other manifolds to really be worth it, you'd need to be an all out race car spending all day above 4500rpm, with lots of cams compression and/or boost. Most of these intake trade a lot of bottom and midrange for moderate gains up top and cost a lot doing it.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 3 lety

      The cj will easily top the 18 if both are ported and both are revved out to where they should be that is where the cj shines up past 7 or so the cj will walk away from it. Everyone acts like the 18 is basically the cj for less money I greatly disagree. Also with cj you need a big mono blade to really make the most of what it can do. Castrating it with a stock gt500 tbody or even the twin 65 one isn't letting it do what its capable of. That is what makes cj so much better than the boss is the wider inlet and oval tbody opening so you wanna take advantage of that...ported cj with a monoblade and pmas smokes all imo all motor.

    Ford intakes and all ported specifically the Boss with with ported TB or an Accufab 84.5mm . There was a test done with a ported boss & Accufab TB compared to CJ with 65mm and graphs were identical when over layed . 1320 Junkie said the Boss was the worst factory casting that he ports ? For the money if a ported boss can make those gains it would be worth to do an all ported test on the same engine . Gen2 would probably be best just for better flowing heads to maximize manifolds .

      @blackonefifty Před 5 lety

      For people who have their hearts set on an N/A build with substantial weight reduction, CJ is absolutely the king. I know of a 13/14 Mustang on a CJ setup that’s gutted that has outrun Roush 18+ 10R80 cars from a roll and it wasn’t even close. Might not have the punch of a monster PD blower setup or turbo setup but it’s reliable, doesn’t have some of the headaches your average F/I car might have, plus in the long run it’s cheaper. 🤷‍♂️ just won’t make near the peak power.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 2 lety

      If I had a coyote I would just throw a ported cj on it from the jump and be done with it. It is more expensive but it isn't that bad considering how much better the car is going to run all out wot. People pay more for stuff that does less for performance like for example an expensive catback or set of headers hell even nice axlebacks go for 1000+ so to me a ported cj isn't that bad. What makes it real costly is if you start out with a stock intake and do cold air on that or even worse tbody too then you switch to the cj you gotta buy it all again. Best thing to do is if you want real performance go ahead and do a ported cj from jump street. It'll be under 2 grand plus tuning and your car is gonna be night and day as far as na goes. If you have cams and long tubes it's really gonna move out. People focus too much on peak numbers but that is one nasty setup on e85 it'd prob see 500 wheel even with gen 1 heads unported if you're manual and it's gonna be a fast 500 wheel. People focus on gains and numbers but don't realize just how badly that 500 wheel setup is gonna gap a 420 whp bolt on setup with a run of the mill intake on it. The overall power curve and how far it holds the power drastically changes and in a race between the two setups you can see this lol. It'd be alot worse than you think given there is only an 80 hp difference.

      Ported boss is much better than non ported but it won't equal even a non ported cj imo. It might get kinda close peak power wise but a ported cj with monoblade would walk away from it. yeah, a comparison between 18stock, ported ones, and cobra jet would be neat.
    Do 18+ owners benefit from a gt350 intake at all? The bullitt has one, but my guess would be the larger TB and CAI & tune made the + in power?

    • @rileyneufeld7001
      @rileyneufeld7001 Před 5 lety

      TB accounts for maybe 5whp NA. The gt350 is slightly better than the 18 manifold. But not worth the extra cost. I believe the Bullitt has a ported gt350 manifold.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před 5 lety

      Bullit/GT350 are the same, and that is correct about the TB, its worth a little bit more on those intake manifolds.

      @@VMPPerformanceTV So, upgrading the TB and CAI is worth more than changing the 18intake for a GT350 one?

    Well its Ford , 😎 I dont think its a stretch to say that Ford threw a whole lot more money at R&D then any of the aftermarket folks....
    Im not sure porting it is going to give you that much of a gain if any.

  • @poorboy3136
    @poorboy3136 Před 5 lety

    Yes VMP. Do a ported intake challenge. But what I suggest, is that the hood of the car needs to be shut.

    • @K-Rock-gj2om
      @K-Rock-gj2om Před 5 lety +1

      It's on a Dyno. They pretty much always keep the hood. Lowering the hood with probably only lower the numbers a little bit and heat soak the engine more. Then it would take longer to cool down the vehicle in between pulls.

    • @poorboy3136
      @poorboy3136 Před 5 lety

      True. I understand that. But its not like we are driving are cars on a dyno all day or with the hood up. With the hood down we would see close to real street numbers

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před rokem

      That would be crank horsepower advertised from Ford. After drivetrain loss, they make a bit less at the wheels.

    • @VMPPerformanceTV
      @VMPPerformanceTV  Před rokem

      It's the standard for the OEM automotive industry to publish crank numbers. Wheel numbers are primarily prevalent in the automotive aftermarket because of the volume of dyno testing we do.

  • @gopherchucksgamingnstuff2263

    Hey just a side question , do i need to re tune after changing axle back exhaust ? or is that just sound. I have outlaws now and would like to tone it down a bit. Also I would like to hear that expensive VMP 2.3 on it. 08 GT 500 .
