      I’ve seen 50 out of cams on a supercharged one. But with boost, spending $3000 on cams is pointless. Pulley down and get the power that way.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 4 měsíci

      @colemason2422 this not good advice. There's a thing called efficiency my friend. Also not everyone has badass fuel they can run so they can just "pulley down" it's gonna take e85 to be able to do that or race fuel. The cams not only make a good chunk more but they effect the overall curve in a good way average power is much more through a pull and it will make that extra power at a lower boost level i.e. it's more efficient. Telling people to just cram boost down it's throat for more power isn't good advice. Why would you not wanna make more power at a lower boost level?

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@colemason2422where do people get it costs 3000 for cams? It's like 1500 for a full set of cams btw. It's funny how people add in labor when talking about cams but nobody says spending 3000 on headers is pointless even though gains are less than cams? I don't understand this view that people have toward cams in the coyote world. It's looked at as a waste even though it has more gains than alot of other stuff you can do that's in a similar price range. Also people look at cams and cj as if it costs as much as properly boosting one and that is also nonsense. A cammed cj car will be much faster than a typical fbo car that has stock cams and manifold. It's the way it effects the curve there is more to it than peak to peak comparison. These people who preach against cams need to be stopped. Cams are a good mod to do weather you're na or boosted.

    Not a good comparison. The 10r80 will take more power to drive than the mt82. So the power increase from the cams will be more than shown here. As far as dyno comparisons go, you can't just add 10%. An inertia dynojet cannot be manipulated to change power output, but a mustang dyno can by changing the load. Over here in CA, mustang dyno's are known as the happy dynos because they usually show a lot more power than a dynojet. But that says more about the dyno operator than the dyno. An honest mustang dyno operator will have a power reading within 5% of an inertia dynojet when set to SAE correction factor and it can swing either way as to which is reading higher. In the end, a dyno is just a tool and trap speed tells all. But people sound silly when they add power to guess the output of another dyno. Nothing against you personally, sir.

    Looking for bigger power numbers for the sake of higher power numbers (saying what it makes on a dyno jet or quoting the corrected power number) is just cock measuring. You still have what you have, no matter what number the dyno spits out. WCF is only handy for comparing what a car made in the dead of winter in Siberia to what a car made in Death Valley at the height of summer. It still isn’t the number the car made and the car isnt any faster for it. By that I mean the orange car made 467whp and the black car made 489whp. If it wasn’t a great day for making power, no problem, you have a base number and better weather will make for more power if you race anything but a dynamometer. In any case, those are some very respectable power numbers NA with that displacement.

      Alot of blown 5.0s are below 600 wheel. 2.3 cars without alot of supporting mods can easily be in that power range on 91 octane. Not every boosted coyote makes 700-800 wheel lol

    Orange car has '60s vents on rocker covers, oh my, nice at making an oily engine bay. Black car nearly stalls after the pull, can't idle on its own, smoking engine bay as well, not worth a few ponies IMHO. Go supercharger and stop wasting $$$ on NA.
