    Absolutely correct about the taper, more taper = more rpm.
    The radius entry on the bellmouth works the same way, larger radius, more rpm.
    If you are running a carb, carbon/composite intakes are a nightmare. In 9000+ rpm small blocks, the prostock guys have seen actual fuel foaming from the resonance issues that come with the lightweight material. Dry intakes obviously aren't affected so much as seen here. Not to say it isnt missing numbers due to that.

    I have an MMR Intake sitting on my work bench. It would have been the longest runner length in the group and MMR says it’s 1100hp+ is where it shines. Price is around $3600. I am selling it as my car makes 780. Would have loved to have seen the longer runner length peak. We need to eventually see a Vortech / Procharger / ESS style blower with stock intake, ported, other N/A units. Nobody has done this. VMP has done the N/A intake shootout 4 years ago.

    Great video thanks for doing this. I will say the same throttle body should have been used on each manifold to remove any variable the different ones may pose. I take these numbers with a grain of salt due to this variable not being taken into account. Its unfortunate because otherwise this was a very well executed test. I think for most of use probably any of these would be fine but if your literally concerned with every single ounce of power and tenth then you have some options!

    I would be very interested to see these same manifolds on a slightly modified N/A car. As I remember going back to the late 80's and early 90's 5.0, blow thru boost really wasn't keen to a big TB and everything that would be good for N/A. I sort of see the same thing playing out here.

      Aviation uses carbon props these days....if they can withstand those forces I don't think 25 lbs of boost will hurt this intake

    • @03c5z
      @03c5z Před 10 měsíci +1

      Not to mention they are different types of forces and the carbon is laid deifferently. Lots of variables that cant be compared between a driveshaft and intake. Ultimately aluminum should hold more pressure, but if properly designed the burst plates should fail first on both.

The only way carbon fails is from delaminating but I assume you work with carbon fiber/resin so please enlighten me on why they are not remotely the same. 03c5z is right they are 5 forces acting on a prop.
