- Laurindo Almeida, Ray Brown, Bud Shank and Jeff Hamilton, four guys experienced live on stage and in the studio recorded this direct to disc album, "Just Friends" in 1978. Once the cutter head starts engraving the lacquer the musicians start playing and they can't stop to fix mistakes. They have to break live between songs and then start again. The chain goes from the microphone to the mixing board to the cutter head. Nothing beats a good D2D recording sonically but many aren't musically distinguished because everyone plays it safe, afraid to blow an entire lacquer a few seconds short of the side end! This one wins for music and sound

That high 'ting-ing' goes on forever! Beautiful.
Excellent Set Up!!
I listened this recording at a friend´s house in 1980. He was trying to introduce me to Jazz, at that time I didn´t like. At the end he made a good job now I´m a Jazz fan
No tape hiss! The beauty of D2D records!
Absolutely stunning....
WOW...
I worked at a Hi-Fi store that sold these records in the 1970's. I have several copies.
Fantastic ! Reminds me of the jazz club scene in the movie Bullet. Thanks Michel
Love my direct to disc records played on my Acoustat speakers
wow, I need this in my collection. would love to hear how Dexter Gordon's one flight up sounds on that turntable. once again great video.
its a great one this one, i don't have the vinyl sadly but i have the SACD version. love the quality of their playing.
Still one of my favorite and most effective showoff pieces for the analog newbs. Bought this record new back in the 70s and has been played hundreds of times and still silent. Classic Signature 3D, Koetsu. Not close to your table or my buddy's Kronus, but adequate for the job.
Beautiful tone on that sax
Amazing detail and clarity! It sounds like it was recorded 'yesterday'.
Crystal clear and amazing sound quality without any surface disturbance and hissing sound of the surface, WOW, I LOVED IT.
beautiful Michael.
I also listen to this same recording to evaluate our new 3-way speaker design. Awesome, work Michael!
Wow... Want that record!
Even through youtube you can hear how good that tonearm is. Sounds amazing less even less detail here on youtube. Thanks for sharing Michael.
exotic
Now you should get the video quality of your videos up to the sound quality lol. Sounds great thanks for sharing Michael.
LaTour High End Audio yes.he is out of focus.
Is that the Swedish Audio Technology tonearm?
Why 2 arms are for ? What's the specific and/or special purpose served by fixing 2 arms ?
I' m a little bit confused. Why do i appreciate the Sound of the record, even if I'm listening via IPad and headphones for 250€?
Analog magic :)
what's the name of that classical guitar piece?
Nouveau Bach, Adapted from Bach´s Prelude in C Minor
What brand is this turntable??
the elegance of this piece is almost unbearable, my old A25s thank you too
