Jesus, what a gorgeous rig.
And Kind of Blue on top of it? Heaven?
This is a classic album ive been collecting music for 11 years this is one of my favorite albums ever
This song seems to have its own soul . I shudder to hear each chord. Thankyou for sharing.!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
That is Bill Evans on piano; he was the master of close chords and unusual intervals. He sometime used the Lydian mode. Miles Davis was of the opinion that the Lydian mode was more natural to jazz than our standard diatonic scale.
Wow. I like and appreciate the time and effort it takes to do this . Thank you.
Ignore any negative criticisms tht are placed in ur comment box. Cant wait till the next.
***** Thank you sir! Very kind. It does take time actually but believe it or not most of it is waiting on the upload to CZcams! It takes 7 or 8 hours at times! Yipes!
Please check out the rest of my vinyl playback videos on my channel as I already have TONS of them there. Just click on my name and it should take you there. Oops the latest one have just finished uploading. It is a yummy track done from a R2R tape of Sonny Rollins' Saxophone Colossus - St. Thomas (Mono).
Here: czcams.com/video/AJMyrNkyI2k/video.html
Enjoy!
I swear it made my cry. Rest In Peace Miles John And Bill Evans
So What is, in my personal opinion, the greatest jazz track ever recorded and of the greatest compositons in music history. It has an unreal feel that trascends every musical genre. The whole album is majestic too. Thank you very much!
Thank you. And I agree 100%
Wow, that bass it amazing. I've spun the LP a million times on less powerful systems, but this turntable and cartridge are on a higher plane. It's quite astonishing to hear the spaciousness of the drums, the mass of the trumpet tone. Thanks for sharing. I'd love to hear more if possible.
+daniel thomas Wow thank you! I really appreciate it. This is my friend's awesome system and we are going to definitely keep shooting videos there as soon as he gets his Magneplanar speaker back from service so keep it tuned to this station!
Actually did you see my excerpt of the new MFSL 45rpm/2LP Kind of Blue? The new reissue is OUT OF THIS WORLD and it may just beat out this rare Classic Records Clarity Vinyl edition! In fact we've already talked about having a triple shootout of the Classic Clarity Vinyl, the new MOFI, and a dub of KOB on reel to reel 15ips! This will be a compare of epic proportions and yours truly will capture it all to share here! :)
Oh and in the meantime see if you like the way my new (short) video sounds here:

Enjoy!
Oz
Oswaldo Martinez This is fantastic! Thanks for sharing this.
Dwayne Wladyka Thank you!
nice to hear a warm sound from high quality equipment and clean record :D
+Trevor William Davis Thank you! :)
Soothes the soul brings peace to the mind. Thank you Miles!
Well said!
The sound is magnificent and the turntable is a thing of beauty. It`s as though the musicians have stepped out of time to perform for us, live.
I grew up listening music with my parents every Sunday. Great times!
Live!
Alive!
One more thing, I must thank U tube, which enables me to not only see , but even to hear your fabulous equipment!!👍👌
I wonder, how it sounds in person. What a set of fine machinery!👌👌💐💐
Thank you. Glad you dig it!
Let There Be Sound! Yes of course. It's a divine machine.
I was always fascinated by turntables. In India, we never saw these high end machines even at a music buff's house
Yours is an exceedingly fine machine. Three cheers.
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏
Thank s again. I am humbled.
This is the best rendition of this song I've ever heard. The texture and reverberation of the bass strings is remarkable, as is the spacious shimmer of the drummer's cymbals. There is a sweetness and clarity that is a step above anything else. Yes, that's a $5K cartridge. But it does appear that you do get what you pay for. Of course, if you have that kind of money, you could probably just afford to pay a jazz band to play at your house, hah.
That said, thanks for the video, it's very enlightening and fun to hear.
Yep, it stays good after all these listenings over and over again.
Pure Magic. Substance and form. The composition, the sound out of it, the object's design, the machine used to play it, this is a work of art. Thank you.
You are so welcome my friend 🙏🏻 Glad you have a appreciation for the finer pleasures in life.
Man, that's a nice 'table. I have several versions of Kind of Blue, but nothing on clear/opaque vinyl. Top 5 album (all musical genres) for me. Enjoy!!
Sweet. Glad you enjoyed it. I am collector of this album as well. I've got quite a few actually! LOL
Of all the versions of this album in my collection, the original sounds the best. It just seems to have the most articulated bass. I love Cannonball Adderley's first solo on the first cut. He inspires Miles and Coltrane, who up to the point of Adderley's solo, just played like "another day in the studio." After Adderley's first solo on the album, everyone just kicked butt making this one of the best jazz seller of all time.
Thanks for sharing ..
You're very welcome. Thanks for your insights.
That had the best sound out of everything I heard. They should play more music such as this on that turntable!!?!
Thank you! I will try to shoot more videos on this rig which belongs to a friend. Glad you enjoyed it!
Why not just upload the whole album!?!!
Haha thanks but no way. This video of mine while loved by many of you has also been the most maligned by many. Life's too short to feed Debbie Downers. Gotta move on to other fab music.
I may do another track off a different pressing of Kind of Blue however. Let's not penalize Miles just because this particular pressing was pressed off center and people were bugging out on it. Right?
One of my favorite LPs on one of my very favorite tables (gotta love VPI) - Thank you!
You're so welcome! 🙏🏻
Just picked up this album the other day, fantastic album!!!
Glad you've come into the KOB fold! Magical album for sure!
I love your channel, feeling a bit down I usually end up here find a cool jazz track and see it played on some exquisite equipment. Yes here in Australia that cart costs 12k but when it sounds that good who cares. Cheers man keep up the great work.
jonrowley1 Cheers mate! Glad you dig my channel!
Great turntable, great tune! Thank you for posting this!
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Thank you, Oz.
I enjoyed this immensely, Let There Be Sound! Thanks!
You're VERY welcome! Thanks for commenting!
Thanks for the post. Nice TT and sound capture...
marksgmail66 thank you! I appreciate your comment.
Another stunning video, another amazing 'table and rig,and such awesome sound! Thanks again!
You're welcome!
Real sound from Miles the Genius!!!!
The sound quality is just incredible , thanks for uploading :)
My pleasure!
AMAZING SOUND. Loved every second of this vid. Thank you for allowing me to soak up a few minutes of that pressing. I also appreciate your equipment. I can only dream of owning something like that one day.
You're very welcome!
Un whisky 18 años y este maravilloso disco y con tu fabuloso equipo simplemente excelsus
Gracias!
Pure analog awesomeness at it's finest for both artist and machines too :-)
Thank you!
You are much wellcome and thx for the heart :-)
Thanks for the excellent rip. Sounds wonderful.👍
Alexander Watson you’re welcome!
Nakamichi used to make very expensive turntable that actually compensated for off centre records using some sophisticated concentric electronic servo thing. You can also do it manually by grinding the centre hole into an elipse, then reposition and eyeball the record as it rotates. Not machine perfect but it works.
This video made me appreciate the headphones (HD 6XX) I bought four months ago. Just wow. Thank you
Thank you!
wanna cry!
I want also the album and the record player!!!😜😜😜
wonderful...
Sounds great. Thank you for posting.
Thank you! It is an early effort but I think it holds up well for what it is. If you like this music then check out this newer version of an equally amazing reissue I did last year here: czcams.com/video/vjsUGGtl9w0/video.html
people, I want this turntable and the álbum for christmas, the perfect gif!!!!!!
Hahahahaha! I LOVE IT! (and very smart to get your wishes out there publicly. Who knows, it might happen, right?)
Sounds great through my studio monitors thanks for making these great recordings and demoing all the real HiFi gear
You are very welcome Rizzo!
great set up ... wow.
Thank you!
OMG!! I have never heard this number with such clarity before. I am envious! Thank you for sharing with us. ;-)
The pleasure is mine! :)
Xnocturnus Try the SACD version.
The SACD will easily beat a CZcams video, sure. But not the live vinyl playback on a turntable like this. Guaranteed. I should know... I have this fabulous recording in all the available formats including Hi-Res 24/192 and DSD. The ONLY format that's superior to vinyl is Open Reel. Nothing digital come close.
wish I could hear this in person, it sounds amazing
Great sound ... perfect setup
Thank you! Much appreciated!
Wow, were you in the room? LTBS has said the feed wasn't thru speakers but was a direct feed into a digital recorder. So the "sound" you're hearing is thru your computer (speakers), right?
Fantastic sounding!
Thank you. Not bad for being an earlier effort.
If you search either for “Miles Davis” or “So What” on my channel you will get a hit for a newer version done with a different pressing + different turntable/cartridge combo, which I think sounds even better.
perfect! so nice.
Thank you. Much appreciated!
Even the cartridge is swinging back and fore to the music
Sounds incredible... thanks
Thanks for listening!
Que fantástica turntable, con el brazo recto, me dan ganas de no volver a reactivar mi vieja Thorens. Genial la música y el vídeo, gracias!
Gracias amigo!
Amazing clarity my friend.....thanks so much for your efforts.
Rick Davis thank you! But I can’t help thinking this many years later my effort could be even better, more transparent. Today I do have better gear than what I used back then so I may do this track again just for fun. Cheers.
@@LetThereBeSound1 A wise man once told me..."Perfection is a disappointment, it leaves you stranded at the top, with nowhere else to go"
Again my friend..thank you so much.
@@rickdavis3593 Right on brother! LOL
super high end.mmmmm nice gr8!
I have the limited edition Classic Records 200g blue vinyl, but have never opened it. This sounds amazing.
I see ! Looks great , sound great ! Heavy metal 's , solid build 's ! Limited edition..... Super high
да........оборудование не для простых смертных.........супер!!!Спасибо за возможность окунуться в мир звуков HI-END))!!!
Спасибо! Рад, что вам понравилось!
I dunno what other posters were talking, complaining about. I think this sounds terrific. I recently bought an anniversary copy from of all places, Walmart, and I’ll give this another listen on my system. To hear how it compares.
Awe that'd very kind of you. I too agree. This doesn't sound nearly as foul as some here state. Also, I believe some of the noises heard are being confused by high level of hiss in the master tape, the spit on mouthpieces of the instruments, and the brush work. Many have not heard these "extraneous" noises before and confuse them as cartridge mistracking or distortion.
Let me know how your copy sounds.
@@LetThereBeSound1 sorry for the delayed reply. But yeah, mine sounds terrific to my ears. A quick rundown on the gear: Technics SL-1200-MK2 turntable; Reisong A-10 vacuum tube amp; Klipsch RP 600M speakers. Not the best or highest fidelity system designed by man I grant one, but it ain’t bad.
The scratching sound I hear are the brushes and cymbal taps.
So I have no idea what some of the other posters are complaining about.
Cheers!
Amazing!... I want your setup!! Nice! Without saying... What a track! Cheers!
Thank you! Glad you dig my friend's setup! Actually he's recently upgraded to an even more amazing VPI turntable called the Avenger Plus. I have to videotape that beauty next! Cheers!
Un tornamesa totalmente inusual... y el track... relajante. Una forma muy grata de empezar la mañana.
Gracias!
Obra de arte de la musica con un maravilloso sonido, se agradece el compartir.
Gracias!
Very nice!
Beautiful setup. Nice choice of music too.
Thank you sir! Much appreciated :)
Need to get that record.
Combined with a Belgian beer and Belgian choclate....
That sounds awesome! Glad you enjoyed my video.
The multi-channel SACD version of this album sounds awesome too from OPPO UDP-205 Player.
Hello, I'm baaack. Just with one word: wow. I love that sound and also the turntable itself.
Awesome and welcome backkkk!
How exactly are you able to hear the "sound" of a turntable from a YT video?
Sharon Mahart some CZcams videos certainly sound better than others.
Still, this should not be confused as being the same as experiencing a product, any product, live and in person. No way.
@@LetThereBeSound1 And I'd hasten to encourage the word "different", rather than "better", as it allows the listener to make their own decision. For people who have an incredibly trained ear and an incredibly revealing computer audio system, there may be a slight discernible difference that can point to one product vs. the other, while for 99.99% of the others, it's really subjective, at best. There's enough "snake oil" and witchcraft blamed on audiophilia as it is... I always admire people who really love and appreciate sound acknowledging this up front so the trolls aren't emboldened. Your response was greatly appreciated and very genuine, IMHO!
Nice configuration - rare and exotic - especially for the eyes. Well done idler degrades sound only minimally.
Que hermoso equipo. Felicidades ¡¡
Gracias! El placer es mio!
That was just mesmerizing, Oz. Of course, the cartridge cost twice the table, lol. Still...
Thank you Willy!
I DIG.....
Ну....От такого аппарата и я бы не отказался😀😁😂
Que preciosura amigo! La música, tornamesa, luz y sombras del vídeo; solo veo y escucho la perfección. Un saludo!
Gracias a usted! Un saludo de vuelta!
Capolavoro assoluto!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Grazie!
Wow Thanks so much. Subbed
I am humbled. Glad you enjoyed it!
멋지네요^^♡♡♡
Amazing sound 10/10 😨😎
Thank you!
WOW! that sounds fantasic,, although I am not surprised with that turntable setup
Thank you!
Wow, this frying pan sounds nice
!
Thanks for posting. Sounds great. That distortion from the spit in the horn in the right channel at the beginning has always bothered me, but is soon forgotten every time.
You are welcome! ❤️
Love that stuff!!, love McIntosh as well , it is the best you can buy !!! I should know , I sold it and I own it...
robert Neilson it's not the best but it's up there
I am not in this category of "Audiophile" but do have a nice system and collection of music. I just need to get a decent Turntable to complete the setup. Thank you for sharing, absolutely beautiful sound.
+Henry Belk You are very welcome. I would follow this up with when the time comes, if you don't have a quality audio dealer in your town that supports analog, it would be my pleasure to lend a hand in helping you acquire the right turntable to fit your budget.
Thank you for the support, I am currently looking at either the Debut Carbon or the Audio Technica AT-LP120 as a starter system paired with a Schiit Audio Mani Phono Preamp to my Yamaha RX-V475 then to the Polk Audio Speakers. I want to upgrade the speakers to the EMP Tek R5Bi in Rosewood.
I have heard nothing but praise for the AT-LP120, but like the look of the Carbon. Maybe look on Ebay first at a vintage unit. We shall see as the budget is slim at this moment.
+Henry Belk Understood. No worries whenever you're ready and *only if* you don't have a quality local dealer should we can talk. I am a big believer of supporting your local audio dealer first.
For the record I happen to be a Pro-Ject dealer and 100% vouch for anything this brand makes. Totally awesome performance at fair asking prices.
Take care,
Oz
Its platform shows this record without much impulse of the bass compared to others I've heard on youtube. I believe that we hear too much bass and end up losing details. Therefore, as this turntable is sophisticated, I believe that this sound is as pure as possible from the source, and therefore, I must detoxify myself from the excesses of bass. Thank you.
great!
Thank you!
This record sounds Awesome on my Technics 1200 mks
Technics is an awesome hi-fi brand produces excellent products without demanding too much money
I have the humble sl bd 22 fg servo model since 1988 still plays good technically speaking as a machine and also jazz records with awesome quality sound through my Yamaha AX-592 2x100 watts 8 ohm 1998 buy and custom speakers again 1998
But your turntable is waayy better model and i can guess how much better it plays the records ;-)
Too Pity to listen to youtube this amazing piece of art. Could you upload to another place the full sound recording? I'd loved your Setup!!! A M A Z I N G !!!
Thank you!
I'm sure it's the angle but the azimuth looks slightly off. Beautiful ❤️ table and setup👍
Thank you. Yes I can assure you it’s an optical illusion. This cart is very angular.
My KOB two eye copy sounds pretty darn good. And I know its all analog.
not so serious The Columbia 2-eye and of course the mighty 6-eye are hard to beat!
I gotta step my turntable game way up. It sounds amazing!
Thank you! Where are you at now? Incidentally whenever you're on the market please check with me as I usually have turntables available which were trade-ins from when my clients upgrade. Or I can help you move into a new one. I only make the suggestion if you don't have a local high end shop you're already working with - because if you do, please support them!
Let There Be Sound! I'm in Baltimore.
Great
Thanks!
Jazz plus funky.... A slow fox swing
Sounding mellow through the headphone amp on my NAD 3020D MKII with AKG K550's.
Beautiful. Thank you!
Haters gonna hate. thx for the vid
Станок шикарен
Beauty machin........
marian szarf thank you!
Greetings !
I'm still in awe that a rim drive can sound this good vs belt drive. Maybe why the lenco has such a following though they can't be as sophisticated as the vpi. I have the standard scoutmaster version of your table with center clamp and periphery ring and just love it.
They are both great tables. Thanks for your kind comment.
That arms moving all over the shop!
Would like to see a review of a classic album by the Left Bank
Great video. Many thanks for posting it especially given the time it takes. May I ask what components you used to prepare this for CZcams? Are you recording directly from the turntable via DAC or are you using a video recorder to record from your speakers? Look forward to more videos in future. Happy listening.
+Ash Varma Thanks for the kind comments! In this particular case I fed the Tape Out signal from my friend's preamp/line stage into a Zoom H4n digital recorder which then got fed either into my Nikon D7000 or iPhone 6 (I can't remember which I used here but it looks like the Nikon) using a special adaptor which knocks the line level signal into mic level so to not overload the camera's input.
But it is tricky and requires patience as if you don't watch your levels you could esily end up with a so so recording on your phone or D-SLR.
Going forward I will be capturing the sound directly unto the Zoom H4n's SD card as I've discovered that sounds much better and I don't have nearly as much issue reaching the perfect sound level which used to plague some of my previous attempts. The only downside to doing that is more time in post because not have to edit the sound into the video clip on Mac's iMovie. But it is way worth it.
I hope sharing this information has been helpful. Cheers!
Oz
As I see it the turntable is turned by a large idler with a rubber o-ring on its driving surface. The idler, in turn, is driven by the motor shaft by means of a rubber belt. It appears to me that any mechanical vibration from the rapidly rotating motor shaft and the bearings of the idler assembly could be transferred to the turntable by means of its contact with the idler. Also if the o-ring of the idler isn't perfectly regular and free of contamination, mechanical noise could be transferred to the turntable.
The Rim Drive works well. It actually has lowered the noise floor by 20% or 30% when I recently switched from the standard belt driven motor to the new Rim Drive on my VPI Avenger Reference. So that's the reality of the situation rather than extrapolating from what you're seeing. If you haven't experienced this drive system live then you wouldn't know what you don't know. Cheers!
The idler (rim) drive provides the greatest "thrust" or impactful sound of all. Mine is the Thorens TD124 MKII, which is a hybrid type. All of this is concealed inside of the platter with the "tire" pressing on the inside, while all is externally mounted on the VPI Scout--a beautiful machine.
Soo nice!! Suberb, thanks
Hans Dekker you’re so welcome! 😊
Love the sound! What model phono stage (preamp) was used?
Thanks! It was my friend's Pass Labs XP-25 Phono Stage.
This digital reproduction of your analog source sounds fine on my system Some will have lower or higher quality reproduction than I . Perfection is unattainable . For free this is good .
Hey thanks. Not a horrible effort considering how long ago this was. I have improved the way I do my captures. Case in point, check out this newer version of the same song (different system and pressing though) on my channel and tell me what you think:

All my best,

A esta pieza la debe reconocer casi todo el mundo, indistintamente si te guste o no el jazz...
Gracias y de acuerdo!
