Yeah, we filmed this on March 6, 2020. Six days later they declared a state of emergency in Las Vegas. Home Edition certainly does have a new connotation now!
It's interesting. Of course, I was hopeful leading into the performance that I would fool them, but honestly I thought the chances were relatively low They're two VERY smart magic thinkers, after all! When Penn said "index", I actually thought I had them fooled! One of the wrong solutions I thought they might go for was to ask to look in the box. We structured the trick so that they actually can! The box is empty at the end of the trick. So, I think my face was reacting to the little jump in my stomach when I thought they might be going the wrong direction... but then they nailed the rest of the method. Penn was using the term "index" a little loosely in this context. By the end of his guess, I knew they knew :) There's one SMALL part that I think actually did fool them but it was a detail... not a main component. I was satisfied that they guessed the relevant parts.
Wish you could have been there live after you made the trip! But I’m really glad you’re finally able to see it. Maybe we need a Watch It Played rules explanation video. Lol
@@CalebWilesMagic sorry to say you did not fool me either... and I fully understood the clues from Penn.. and I'm not even a magician :) Cool trick tho!
Wow! Mr. Wiles, can't believe you have come this far with your magic! I love Penn and Teller, been watching them since I was a kid. This was the last place I expected to see my old math teacher from Perry High! I still remember the way you would stump all the students in class with your card tricks. Congrats! Oh, and shade, shade, shade shade it shade it...
Great to see that you're still doing what you love. You were one of my favorite teachers in high school. Your magic tricks were really amazing. Thank you for the wonder and excitement you brought to class.
Yeah, I was so flattered that she genuinely seemed happy about me gifting the trophy to her. She asked me after the show if she really was allowed to keep it. One of the writers backstage later mentioned that she kept it on display in her dressing room for the rest of the season's filming :)
@@Invictus13666 I guess I’m just confused because I never claimed to know how it was done, just that the magicians face looked distraught when penn says index. Lighten up buddy.
This was just phenomenal. I was glued to the entire thing. I am a gamer too so appreciated it that much more. This is one of my favorite performance on Fool Us ever.
With everyone knowing that Teller doesn't speak on the stage, I always assumed that when magicians make him pick a number on the card, they expect a number 2-10, cause that's easy to signal. I thought its game over when he mimed king instead :o
Damn it. I really really wanted you to win the rematch. A shame Penn and Teller saw through your latest gambit. Although it was still super cute. Hope to see you again on Fool Us with something truly mindblowing so you can win that trophy for real.
What a creative and entertaining performance. All those funny little details to make us laugh. Truely amazing. And I also like how you really include your volunteer in the performance, both for this one and especially the one in season 3.
"Too Perfect" principle strikes again .. when you printed the chosen card on the backs of the jokers, it narrowed it down to only one method, and that's all she wrote. It's still a good trick 👍
@@SKyrim190 he had an index of different decks with different cards that he swapped out depending on what card they pick. In those decks about halfway through each of them have different pen and teller cards with the selected card in between them and the name on their backs. I'm assuming that he used a little magicans glue to help make sure the cards that were put in when they cut the cards to stick to the card above so they wouldn't spread easily but can probably be done as well without as long as cut is above the halfway point. They also probably had different values on their backs so he could do that face up spread at the end.
The effort you had taken for the preparation and your response after knowing you didn't fool them made me a fan of you instantly ... Awesome perfomence
What a wonderful manner you have, and such a joy to see magic being centred on the audience and the spectator like it should be. You Sir can be very proud of this great piece of mini theatre!
I have studied a lot of magic tricks before and this is one of the more common tricks, but the idea to do something like this. I'm just lost for words with how great the act was and from an audience perspective, I don't think there is another trick that is going to be better than this. I'm just blown away
ZZxd Thanks! Those 3D printed parts were all the work of my brother-in-law. He nailed it. It was a lot of work and a lot of reprinting new versions until we were finally happy.
It might not be the greatest magic trick, but it might be the greatest oda to the show! The performance was really enjoyable and that's what matters the most! Bravo!
This was truly awesome! Finally someone found a creative way to handle the cards. Also, this trick looks like true self-working magic. So, great job, sir, I really liked it!
I think this was a beautifully done execution of what I think would otherwise be a fairly simple trick (I'm not a magician myself so maybe it's way more complicated than I could imagine though!). The board game idea was cute and entertaining. Well done Caleb, even if you didn't get an FU trophy!
Think when when alyson shakes the cards, maybe it dropped from one of the penn and teller cards as it might have been stuck together or there some cyclic maneuverer involved whatever that means
ummmmm predictions are basically a whole genre of magic tricks dude. There are many ways to do them, you can't just say don't do them as a blanket statement. Also ik its on fool us, but magic tricks are for the audience, not the magician watching.
@@CalebWilesMagic It was worth it for all of us. Pretty much everyone who watches the show are fans, so you really pandered to us. :-D Thank you! Loved the special show!
Wait, wait... you were on Fool Us with Penn & Teller?! Twice?! That's so amazing!! 🤯I really hope I get to run into you at Origins! I would be honored! 😳 (Really love the way you incorporated board games into your act, too!)
2:59 He actually takes the deck of cards behind the raised box lid, easily finding the chosen card, while going back and forth with the dollhouse items. Once found, palm and slide...
I don't see how he does it though. At 4:21 he drops the Penn & Teller cards into the deck and clearly nothing is in between. Then he doesn't touch the deck again until after Alyson spreads the deck and you see another card sandwiched between. When did he manage to slide the king of spades in there?
One possible solution is to somehow have 52 different decks inside the game box/table. Just take out the corresponding one. The Penn card has the King Of Spades somehow attached or lightly glued to the back of it, which you unattach at 4:17-4:20 before you place the cards back into the pile.
Cool trick unexpected end. For me predictions immediately allows you to look at the more obvious solutions. Without the prediction there were many ways the trick could be done and I was baffled.
I think the flaw would be that he held the card for too long after opening the card box and reaching for the next item. That was really fishy even with my non magician standard.

I half and half expected you to pull a trick with the images. I mean how cool would it be if the card would be in the hands of the caricature Penn and teller right there on the card, making the drawings even more significant. The index though.... Would be fun if that part disappeared somehow. Guaranteed fooler.
